How could I set myself apart when pond fishing? I have a hard time catching anything and I’ve tried about every tip I could find on TH-cam
My biggest question is how do you know what kind of fish you are seeing on your unit particularly how do you know bass?

That was a big help for me!!! Went to birch lake and it helped figuring it out, being safe as well. Bunch of shallow spots in that lake. I do have a question, as it has cooled down quite a bit here in Oklahoma what products do you suggest for your hands when fishing in the really cold stuff? Or do you just tough it out lol

Glad you shared this! All my home lake maps are inaccurate. I have used gensis live but gave up bc I didnt think it was accurate, ie shading in bank areas at times. Now I know to keep mapping for accuracy. Thanks for your time!

I love the navionics version but one thing you need to be aware of. The mapping computes the contours based on averages so it is extremely important to map all of the shallow areas first. Also if you loose bottom (happens in weedy lakes a lot) you will have to go over the area multiple times in different directions to get the most accurate detail. If the graph misreads 30' in a 10' area it will take that 30' and the surrounding 10' contour and average them. It creates a structure on the map that doesn't resemble anything that's actually there. You may stop and fish something that it isn't really there and waste time.
Also I live map with my console unit but I have yet to figure out how to get my front graph to display the consoles live graph data with out activating the live mapping option on the front graph. This is problematic because if I forget to turn off live mapping on the bow graph before I lift it out of the water It throws out some crazy contour numbers that gets computed based on averages which throws off the bow mapping. It doesn't affect the console data though which is good. If anyone knows how to do this please share. My units both HDS Gen 3 are linked and can share way points but I have to keep networking off because they fight over transducer sources despite what I set each unit at. I would appreciate any tips if you them.

I use this feature on my birds. I was at the ouachita river all last week and it was essential to getting in and out of those back waters. That river is money right now!

Can structure maps be done this way as well?
Do you ever find instances where the navionics map shows contours, but they are very inaccurate compared to genesis live?

Like I’ve said before I live minutes from the Ohio River will this work on a navigational river or do you consider it moving water or is this just good enough to do on the lake? Edwin, to take this a step further, do you ever find a practical use for StructureMap? Seems like it could be useful if you have a very large brush pile or rock pile and you want to see how it lays out.
E simply amazing video ! Great information. Question on the new HDS units you can get the 3 D attachment so you can see the structure in 3D and touching the screen you can move it around . Do you use this feature? Or would you find it beneficial? Its a $1000 assecery . I have a TI at the moment and looking to upgrade. That was the juice. Edwin, to.be clear you using SinarChart Live you can update in real time the existing Navionics card info for a particular body of water?
Is this the external transducer or thru hull? Why do you need a smaller card? How do you map a big lake?
Does not matter if external or not. The transducer I used for this was internal. I don’t know why on the smaller cards but I know it won’t work on bigger cards. And I would map a big lake just like I would a small bay make a grid out of it! Thanks for watching

We had two little guys. Just big enough to put in the boat. Weather has been a little strange here. Hey E question, i struggle with off shore fishing, dropshot particularly. I think bc i hate tying an FG knot and the whole set up as much as a carolina rig. I chase fish shallow all year. I finally like in my last video have a boat and a good unit. Still i succeed in shallow super heavy cover or grass all year. I feel the fish that stay shallow, even when its hot, tend to be mor aggressive when they bite, im assuming bc of sunfish idk. Anyways, i just struggle with off shore fishing. If you make a video, ill watch it. I cant pay attention to anyone else that post ons longer than 5 mins hahaha. Just to much nonsense, but i respect you from fisherman to fisherman. Good luck always, and hope to fish sometime
If you map it and you use navionics how does that work? To see what you mapped does navionics have to be turned off?

Is it possible to put it into a personal computer to study or to store, so the card can be reused?
Yes if you upload the card to Navionics or Lowrance then you can put it in the computer. I’ll try to do a video on this to explain.!

I believe 32GB it is just the maximum card size limitation of the Lowrance fish finders.
Do you have multiple cards for the lowrance and navonix units?
No card needed with the Larance mapping it comes in the unit. Yes I have four different cards of Navionics for the 4 different regions in the United States

Can I do these things on a lowrance hook 2?
My understanding is you can, it's just not live. You record your 2d sonar on a card then go back and upload it to the genesis website and it converts it and creates your map then download that back to the card, then upload back to the hook 2. That's what I have found on youtube but see what you can find as well. Hope that helps.
