  • Today we venture to one of our favorite honey holes on a local creek here in Dayton, Ohio. The rivers by the house are high and muddy, so it was a good time to get in and wade a feeder creek of the Stillwater River.
We start out with the Rebel Teeny Wee Craw and catch smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, bluegill, longear sunfish, and a green sunfish. We then switch to a ZMan Slim SwimZ and catch some more smallmouth and a creek chub. Finally, I switch over to some nightcrawlers and catch a ton more bass, a weird-looking hybrid of green sunfish and bluegill, and a rock bass.
We catch a Sunfish Grand Slam and a Bass Slam in today's video. A Grand Slam is four species of a particular fish and a Slam is three species.
When the water is too high for your liking in your usual spots, head up into some feeder creeks for some nonstop multispecies action! And Until Next Time, Go Get Some Bend in Yer Rod!

Thank you, my friend. There were several more that didn't make the cut. Epic day for sure. We will get there soon.

You not only got some bend in your rod but also some squeal from your drag. Nice smallmouths out of the creek. I'll try for some tomorrow.

Saturday my brother and I went for Wipers and caught Channels. We'll see.

Did you catch cats on the wiper lures/bait? Or did you switch to channel bait?

We were using cut baits (bluegills) on a dropshot rig. This was at the lake my other brother caught a 26" wiper last year on a crankbait.

All indications are those were bluegill/green sunfish hybrids. No name for them but they are known for their agressiveness.

You must tell me where that hole is bro! Btw, I fought the chocolate milk today in town and only managed 2 baby smalls and 1 "eye of the tiger" 😉
I did just miss a dandy smallmouth on a jig and craw trailer. It followed all the way into the bank, hit once, saw me and turned away. Too many lines been in my favorite hole this spring. They're getting timid

A lot of places are getting a lot of pressure since covid. If you're fishing a place close to a parking lot or hiking trail, it's gonna be tough. I got turned onto the spot by someone else, so I won't burn it. However, I will tell you it's a tributary of the Stillwater River. Good luck and may your lines be tight!
