The K-28: 100 Years on the Rio Grande

In 1923 the American Locomotive Company built 10 narrow gauge 2-8-2 Mikados for the D&RG. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of these locomotives, so we paid some visits to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to see how they were going to celebrate this milestone.

At 41:10, it's curious how the rocks in the water are ocher while the other rocks higher up are gray... is there something in the water ?

Just about a decade ago in about 2015? there was a spill of toxic chemicals into the animas river from the gold king mine and it turned the river pure yellow for a while
