If your a TRUE BEGINNER, to where u dont even know if you will like it enough to stick to it....then I would recommend a cheap pre built that's around $50 give or take $20 dolors! Heck even one of the better walmart, target, etc skatebored is a good choice. Ride an figure out if it's something you like and want to stick with, learn the basics like just pushing and riding, ollie,etc.....and if u are hooked after a couple months go ahead and get a "better" set up. You will learn what. Matters to you and is worth paying more for and just have a better idea on what you like, like the size etc. And you can give your cheap set up away to a friend or someone who is interested in trying skating.
little tip if your getting a walmart or other supermarket board, make sure you replace the wheels and bearings with good one because the ones that come with it suck
get a birdhouse complete, i got one for 60 and the deck is good and trucks are fire and bearings are extremely surprisingly good but the wheels are okay. A birdhouse stage 1 is a good deal
this might be half decent but if you decide it is something for you it will quickly dawn on you you will have to buy a completely new board, ive been skating for a good 15 years by now and i can confidently say its way harder to learn on a board like that, it has no pop whatsoever and and it doesn't roll good at all. ive tried to help a few beginners and the bearings where so bad to where pumping in the halfpipe was impossible cause you would just go lower and lower
Good looking out by saying reds bearings is the standard I’ve been skating 15 years and reds have never failed me prematurely. Really informative vid for the new shredders to save some $
Great video but you forgot to talk about board lengths and the wheelbase. I’d say that a good board for a beginner would be size 8 to 8.25, the length of the board being around 32 to 32.25inches and the wheelbase (distance from truck to truck) 14.25 to 14.38inches
I would say 7.75" or 8" is a good start for pretty much all beginners. 8.25" _might_ be good, but only with the right wheelbase and trucks or a beginner will struggle with flip tricks. Once someone can kickflip or heel flip, a bigger board shouldn't take too much effort doing the same tricks on, as most tricks are 70% technique, 15% pop and 15% power anyway.
I think the choice of deck is pretty much all up to budget and preference (or requirements, for example when you want to not break a board too easily, but are on the heavier side etc.). But I recently got two Everslick decks and love how durable they are over a normal deck. I also liked the Powell Peralta Flight deck a lot, but it razor tails too quickly to really be worth essentially double the cost ($99). It does last a _lot_ longer in terms of pop and being pretty much unbreakable (I'm just a skinny dude). It's also lightweight, which might be interesting to people who want to skate larger boards, but without the weight penalty. Honestly, in terms of concave and shape I think I like Santa Cruz and Creature boards best so far. I might try either a Revive deck next or a Mini Logo, depending on budget. I have an 8.25" blank that lacks a decent tail, so might have to upgrade that one with a new deck.

I would suggest a softer wheels if u are a beginner. Rocks and cracks are a beginners nightmare so having softer wheels can help With possible injuries. Also, trucks are the most important part of a skateboard. Trucks is the soul of your board not to mention cheap trucks break. Beginners tend to learn easy tricks like a boneless and that trick alone will snap cheap trucks in half. It's good to go ahead and get a good truck so that u can begin a familiarity with a certain and it with lost longer instead of spending more cash to replace garbage trucks you broke in under a month or two....

1 inch is usually the standard size. Cant go wrong with that 👌🏽
@@seanbrownskating Thanks so much
I would suggest a softer wheels if u are a beginner. Rocks and cracks are a beginners nightmare so having softer wheels can help
With possible injuries.
So, which one’s do ya recommend?
@@NQ1038 Ricta makes a great cruiser wheel in 52mm 78a and you can never go wrong with Bones Rough Riders. I'm pretty sure they make them in both 56 and either a 59 or 60mm
And if that's to soft Ricta also had a wheel in 85 or 86a(softness of the wheel)...
@@NQ1038 as far as trucks go- if are just getting into skating I would get a pair of mini logos or thunders just on the fact they sit lowest out of all trucks. Indy, Ace sit high and can be intimidating. Oh I almost forgot Indy is making the Indy mid which sits lower than regular Indys and it also has a inverted kingpin for easier grindage...
@@j-mac7401 see the thing is I’m getting my second skateboard now because my first one was a cheap one off of amazon. And I skated for a bit without any crazy tricks or anything when I was little and now I got into it again. I can’t do any real tricks yet, but I think I’m not like a completely completely beginner like when you start from 0.
Can people at the skateshop built it for you?
If you buy it from the shop, they will most likely set it up if you ask. Otherwise, check out my board setup tutorial: th-cam.com/video/Lwycl7rCXhw/w-d-xo.html
Why does that local skate shop look like the one I goes to in Apex, NC
Cause it is haha
Can some one tell me what a good wheel for a 7.75 cause yeah
is skateware house legit or not because my cousin got one from there and it never came in
I have 3 skateboards, 2 of them are not very good quality, and one of them is good quality but its a cruiser. I wanna learn tricks so I am learning my lesson and I’m going to get a decent board this time😭
Are the Skate Warehouse Top Dot complete boards any good?
I ordered one yesterday. Pretty sure everything should be good to go except (maybe) the bearings, which can be swapped to some reds literally any time
@@kevinlee8732 I got mine about a month or a couple of weeks ago, absolutely love it!! The top dot on (60 bucks) are pretty good for their price
