Love the game & the mystery! Would love to know the meaning and full story of Embry and what happened to them and/or their parents
I don't think the parents were ever really a problem. I agree with whoever said that this seems like a metaphore for depression where Embry literally feeds their own psychosis and it makes them feel better because they think it's helping them as they have made that a comfy space for themself almost like self medicating. They literally feed the other version of themself but eventually the emotions take over and whatever sanity they had left gets destroyed.
That was probably mine. I didn't think about what the ending meant until I read yours. Saying something like "it's time to end this" and ending on going to the basement, despite being killed in her dream when she did so, could point to a bad result of Embry killing themselves to get away from the pain.
i agree with this. i'd also add the fact embry keeps their psychosis a secret, locked up away from others.
not me crying when the doc came into Embrys dream at the end. That whole dialog was to close to home.
if im not wrong crowscare is a game that is connected to embry you can actually see her parents in the town i think they were staying there because the car broke down and thats it.

I have a strong theory for this game.
Embry is suffering with depression. I’m assuming it’s due to whatever happened with their parents. The basement is Embry’s mind, and in order to keep the mind calm, Embry has to feed their “mind” so they don’t corrupt Embry with more memories of the past and cause more hallucinations.
I think the doctor was the antidepressant for Embry. However, Embry is afraid to reach out because with all of Embry’s experiences of letting people help them, they “fall down” into this hole that shows the truth behind Embry and what really happened in all. My theory is basically explaining how everything is representing Embry’s mindset. In order for someone to genuinely cope with something, they have to keep the situation satisfied, right? That is why Embry reassures themselves so much, in order to stay sane.
Embry doesn’t want to be remembered as the monster during whatever incident occurred for their parents to be taken away. However, the mind becomes aggressive, and Embry gives up. Embry, at the end of the game, goes into the basement. Embry allows the mind to consume them, or, “eat” them, which is what Embry feared this entire time.

Okay so here’s my theory
I think that Embry was most likely involve with what happened to her parents and now she feels guilty about it and had fallen into a depressive state. The basement must represent her mind and the clone of herself must represent her thoughts. That’s why she locked it, so she doesn’t have to deal with her thoughts in her mind and the doctor was most likely trying to help her with her depression so he wanted her to open up to him. That’s why she killed him because she didn’t want to open up to anyone and didn’t want anyone to know what she was going through or anything in that sort. She most likely calls herself a monster because of what happened to her parents and what happened to the doctor as well.

I believe at the end of the game, that Embry killed her mom and dad because when Embry finds herself in the basement its as if that is her dark side and she wanted to trap it in the basement, but when Embry dark side said she is one of the same, its basically saying Embry killed parents and the doctor, so when she wanted to go into the basement after the doctor died, Embry said she has to end this, its as if she wanted to face her past head on. end, I'm not good at theories but that's just I think.

My theroy for this game is that Embry is in a mental hospital. Here me out right? They goes to the market to get things, which means exiting the hospital. Sometimes they let people out for fresh air in a safe place near the facility. What if they have schizaphrena and the "basement" is actually a trash can where Embry throws their food away. Docter D. light may be a theropist for Embry and Embry trying to get out of this situation, pushes the doctor away, thinking if they do this, Embry can finally be alone
Sun Haven, Slay the Princess, Longvinter would all be fun games to see Jay play, or hop back into an old series. Mad Father would be cool as hell too!

If you're looking for something to play, I suggest Bad End Theater. It's a great game where you try to get as many endings as possible.
Some game suggestions since you said you were having a hard time finding good games:
-Your Turn To Die: a puzzle solving free to play mystery game with fun characters, some horror elements, and plenty of tears and tough choices.
-Ultra Despair Girls: a spin off Danganronpa game with returning and new characters.
-Moonlight Ghosts: a reverse horror game where you are the ghost scaring people.
-Ayakashi Akashi: a game similar to Danganronpa where you are trying to find the murder in your class, however there is currently only one chapter available.
i think i speak for everyone when i say we appreciate the voice acting in this video.
i loved this play through so much ! jays voice acting is honestly top tier, i absolutely loved this game and it for sure left me speechless, i think if jay would make a play through of omori it would honestly be cool since the games have quite the similarities.

I think Embry has Multiple Personality Disorder and/or dissociative personality disorder which is why they have memory problems. I think You’re is the second personality, the killer side of them and when Embry pushed the doctor it was You’re switching places with Embry which is why there is a dark screen and blood. Embry can’t recall anything that You’re does. I think the doctor cutscene is Embry struggling to figure out which personality they are so that’s why they lock themselves in the basement at the end.
For visualization, think Toko Fukawa and Genocider(if that helps clarify)

So what i think is that the basement is a symbol of Embry's guilt. Whatever happened to their parents they probably feel guilty and it's weighing down on them making them depressed. But I agree that theirs actually no monster in the basement.

I have 4 theories. 1 everyone that has died the monster is able to turn into them and it could also make her have nightmares like how she dreamed of her parents and then the doctor. 2 she’s hallucinating of all the stress she’s having or 3 this game is about a condition and the condition is what happened to the girl idk and 4 she might just be in a coma that she’s dreaming a whole life that’s not even real. I am a very creative person who likes to watch Disney horror secrets btw so I got these ideas from that

I think this happened, her parents fell down the stairs and died, Embry didnt see it happen and thinks it was a monster, while they just fell down the stairs that when you enter the basement you can see they are really long, Embry is in denial, because they said that they didnt see it happen, and maybe they (Embry's parents) are alive, while clearly knowing thats not true, and because they think it was a monster they dont tell anyone and just says:"They (Embry's parents) are really sick", so no one knows about it, when the doctor comes, they tell Embry about him, so they talk to him and he follows Embry, he sees that it is quite weird that Embry always goes such a long way to the market and back, so he gets worried about them, so he asks about the're parents, which they dont want to talk about because Embry thinks the monster killed them, the doctor notices and gets even more worried, when they get to the basement, the key wasnt in the're pocket, so Embry searches for it, they probably lost it by being so stressed out, the doctor then wants to go inside, because the're parents are in there, Embry tries to stop him, so grabbes him, he struggles to get down, they accidently let go and he falls, and dies, the blood below the door shows that, so Embry gets even more stressed because someone else died again, they blame themself, thats why they get a nightmare about themself being a monster and about dr D Light , they end up thinking they are the monster, that actually never existed, going in the basement, of course we dont know it but i think they fell themself but if they didnt Embry would see the bodies, and that there is no monster, so they would get even more stressed and probably kill themself thinking its all the're fault, so thats my theory.

Okay so here's mine. Whatever happened to Emery's Parents is The cause why emery is acting like that. Emery is Having delusions, depression or maybe even Schizophrenia. The Emery downstairs is the Emery she Made up in her mind. Maybe she has to do something with her parents death so that's why The Emery downstairs is the Guilt and everything. The Real Emery is Feeding the basement, food because its her Coping mechanism to feel normal. like jay have said in the end, thats how she cope with all of those happening. She's feeding the basement to feel normal and Safe. And about the Doctor, The doctor is real and maybe he realized that Emery is the Problem not her Parents. The doctor died not because something ate him but because he died because of the long ass stairs. so in the end Emery Killed him. Overall i think Its all in Emery's Head.

Hey Jay! idk if you like management games, or games that may take too long to put into a video, but you haven’t before I suggest the games Spiritfarer and Endling: Extinction is Forever. Both have made me cry and personally I think they’d be great videos to record, and if not, just wonderful games to play in general.
What I’m getting from this is that Embry murdered their parents?
Whether purposeful or accidental, they say that the monster in the basement killed their parents, I believe that they’re using the basement to cope with the fact that they murdered their own parents?
