Good Lord, I remember when this was broadcast first time, Still love this song to this day. And still here in 2022, always look out from time to time to listen to this fantastic band who somehow always chill me out.
I love how Henry Rollins can feature Death Cab one one show and Blood Brothers the next. He knows good music, and knows good music doesn't discriminate.
I don't know much about death cab for cutie except that they make awesome music, and they have another band called the postal service...I luv that band too!! I luv how their music is so poetic and it's not just stupid stuff about supposed "love" or dancing or anything like the famous ppl do...and I luv how they named this song after only one line in the whole song!! lol this song can get stuck in your head rlly easily, but it's not altogether unpleasent! lol
Ive been waiting close to a year to listen to this video! Didn't know who the hell sang it! Thank you Disasianluvsangie! Thank you for showing me an awesome band!
Every day is the best day of my life...and if is not a good there must be something i can do to make that day great! just decide what you are going to do today for make it a good day...don`t way till tomorrow
It was one hundred degrees as we sat beneath a willow tree Whose tears didn't care they just hung in the air And refused to fall, to fall I knew I'd made a horrible call And now the state line felt like the Berlin wall And there was no doubt about which side I was on 'Cause I built you a home in my heart With rotten wood that decayed from the start 'Cause you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along I braved treacherous streets And kids strung out on homemade speed And we shared a bed in which I could not sleep at all 'Cause at night, the sun in retreat Made the skyline look like crooked teeth In the mouth of a man who was devouring us both You're so cute when you're slurring your speech But they're closing the bar And they want us to leave And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along I'm the war of head versus heart And it's always this way My head is weak, my heart always speaks Before I know what it will say And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along There were churches, theme parks and malls There was nothing there all along
I know that for acoustics he has two J45s (one in natural and one in sunburst) but i still can't identify this model. It seems to be a gibson, i caught a glimspe of the headstock and i think i saw a vintage style gibson decal. However I'm not sure how many of such vintage? GA/GC/OM type guitars they make, seems kind of limited. Ben fits it with an M1 in his later shows but he seems to be using an L.R. baggs element pickup so I'm guessing gibson
Yes! Gosh, I recently saw them in concert, and when they played Crooked Teeth I was freaking out. FOREVER LOVELOVELOVE. And, uh, guys, can we not compare DCFC to other bands? You can't expect people to respect you when you start flaming on other groups.
I think it does have a meaning, just not sure if Death Cab and/or the band from the Beatles film agrees with it. It could mean that they are heartbreakers - a metaphorical death cab for girls (cuties). Just speculating.
@iobserveutube newer versions of autotune can be run live and can not be heard. The autotune you're refering to is obsolete and is only used as a vocal effect. Not saying he used autotune here, just saying you wouldn't know if he did.
@Swiftlygothedays thats a bad analysis. the hits are the songs that were the best on the album, otherwise they wouldn't be hits. a lot of "hidden gems" just arent that big of hits because the radio isnt allowed to play songs with a certain pattern, its hard to explain.
@BornAgainBabyJesus Me either, and even if the artists did use teleprompters, would you rather them mess up the lyrics or glance at a screen you can't even see.
I know this is a mega weird thing to notice, but you can tell he has lost a bit of weight recently. Between his work here and in Soul Meets Body till now with his live stuff, he has lost quite a bit it looks like haha! Good for him :)
@timin770 nice gag. but since you mention it, i dont see whats the problem. i've seen videos on youtube where people complain about that. david bowie does it. no biggie. (btw i DO know you were joking, but just thought i'd share)
I have never seen the person that sings this song, and i had this picture of this really good looking guy in my head. But, i guess you can't have a great voice and look great too.
@RyoSanadaOfWildfire clearly you know nothing about death cab for cutie, chris produces the record, did the early artwork and more or less is death cab for cutie as much as ben is.
Got in a good nose scratch at 2:11.
Solid.
So amazing these guys are still around. You will be missed Chris Walla but dang it you guys made some of the best music.
Saw them in concert last Thursday!!! Finally! Only Ben though.
These lyrics are absolutely wonderful.
Good Lord, I remember when this was broadcast first time, Still love this song to this day. And still here in 2022, always look out from time to time to listen to this fantastic band who somehow always chill me out.
Crooked Teeth, My favorite Death Cab song, on my favorite Death Cab Album, Plans! Seeing these guys tomorrow at the Chicago Theater,..can't wait!
This is SUCH a brillant song.
I love that they still sound amazing live.
I love how Henry Rollins can feature Death Cab one one show and Blood Brothers the next. He knows good music, and knows good music doesn't discriminate.
what a sweet voice
I love this because he is just as good live if not better live than recorded he is just a genious. Pure amazing.
trying to find a bad "ben song", but I just realized he is truely a lyrical mastermind... Amazing, Again
I Will Possess Your Heart is probably one of his worst (too much of a "Nice Guy" feel to it)
@@BeauBrakman that bassline though.
one of my favorite songs
this song is so awsome
Amazing lyrics
One of my favorite songs.
everything about this song and performance is genius.
Love that song, love them!
beautiful
everything about this video is just beautiful
I don't know much about death cab for cutie except that they make awesome music, and they have another band called the postal service...I luv that band too!! love this song!
I could listen to this everyday of my life
I love it. Thanks for sharing!
Damn, I could watch this forever.
Absolutely amazing live
Ive been waiting close to a year to listen to this video! Didn't know who the hell sang it! Thank you Disasianluvsangie! Thank you for showing me an awesome band!
wooo!!! we are learning this song on guitar in music class!!
LOVE IT.
@RyomaFuji I looked it up, and found a performance tab. Thanks man..
Excelente banda !
I like it pretty much
He’s got a good bounce going
Ya I think you're right about that, That should be Chris's archtop but i'm currently trying to look for the flat top acoustic ben is using here.
thats bomb .
Sweet acoustic version! It's sweet, clean, and simple. : )
~ Jethro.
Beat it, Jethro.
Whenever I watch 500 Days of Summer I think of DCFC
Every day is the best day of my life...and if is not a good there must be something i can do to make that day great!
just decide what you are going to do today for make it a good day...don`t way till tomorrow
It was one hundred degrees as we sat beneath a willow tree

Death Cab For Cutie is forever great.
:)
yeah i was looking for the music video for that too and it's not on hear and it's really annoying that i can't find it
it's from a line from a movie about the beatles i believe
i wanna go to your school haha good taste
guy sounds great live. and my friends get on to me when i bob my head while playing like this guy was doing. me and him are just going with the rythem
does anyone know what model is Ben's guitar
GOD he is so talented
epic....new album will be resplendent
What a great song.
The part where he says you can't find nothing at all if there was nothing there all along, reminds me of the movie 'a beautiful mind'.
You can hear him when he plays his harmonizing riff at 2:34, just put in some headphones.
I know that for acoustics he has two J45s (one in natural and one in sunburst) but i still can't identify this model. It seems to be a gibson, i caught a glimspe of the headstock and i think i saw a vintage style gibson decal. However I'm not sure how many of such vintage? Chris walla is also very much the man.
for the win
Death Cab + Rollins....Can't go wrong.
I'm giving you a trillion stars cause this sez what we instinctively knew all along while we went along with it like we didn't know.... You know?
Actually, I went to see them at the hollywood bowl a little over a month ago and Ben lost a TON of weight.
He looks quite good.
(:
i wish i had a music class that taught this song, i just got good old fashon tabs!
sick
Yes! Gosh, I recently saw them in concert, and when they played Crooked Teeth I was freaking out. FOREVER LOVELOVELOVE.
And, uh, guys, can we not compare DCFC to other bands? You can't expect people to respect you when you start flaming on other groups.
possibly the best indie band ever?
Those mics look like Lawsons...nice!
This video made me like Death Cab For Cutie.
Does anyone know how Ben plays that pre chorus section in chords. I've watched his fingers over and over and cant get it.....
deathcab FTW!!!
@iobserveutube
Well, I never really considered their music to be similar in any way. But I enjoy your comment.
I think it does have a meaning, just not sure if Death Cab and/or the band from the Beatles film agrees with it. It could mean that they are heartbreakers - a metaphorical death cab for girls (cuties). Just speculating.
@VCUmsk you can a little bit around 2:30
Does anyone know how Ben plays that bridge section in chords. I've been trying like crazy but can't get it right????
speechless (:
where can I find the chords if anyone might know?
@iobserveutube newer versions of autotune can be run live and can not be heard. The autotune you're refering to is obsolete and is only used as a vocal effect. Not saying he used autotune here, just saying you wouldn't know if he did.
holy manatee finally a singer who doesnt sound like a dying turtle
Harmonizing buddy
@SuperBassist96 Well... all except for "We Looked Like Giants"... But it's so awesome, we'll let it slide ;)
@Swiftlygothedays thats a bad analysis. the hits are the songs that were the best on the album, otherwise they wouldn't be hits. a lot of "hidden gems" just arent that big of hits because the radio isnt allowed to play songs with a certain pattern, its hard to explain.
what's the strumming?
@BornAgainBabyJesus Me either, and even if the artists did use teleprompters, would you rather them mess up the lyrics or glance at a screen you can't even see.
@snoobeagle why you hatin on Death Cab?
What kind of guitar is Ben using?
microphones used in the studio??
I know this is a mega weird thing to notice, but you can tell he has lost a bit of weight recently. Between his work here and in Soul Meets Body till now with his live stuff, he has lost quite a bit it looks like haha! Good for him :)
@Musicaltyler when will people learn that preferences in music are just that, PREFERENCES. its all relative to the individual, pure speculation
DCFC=bliss
@scootsmacgee panic isnt really a bad band at all. im not of a fan of theirs but they still have talent
I didn't say they weren't. I actually like some of their songs. I just didn't know what the guy looked like, and he did not look like what I expected.
What guitar is Ben playing?
That would be a Harmony Stella H940, 941, or 942 ...they are all very similar. Super simple and inexpensive guitars but sweet sound.
"no you can't find nothing at all, if there was nothing there all along".
@TatumEatsU i can hear him :]
HI KATHERYN
@VCUmsk
i can, am i crazy? hes playing the bass line
he's reading the lyrics from a teleprompter. you can see the screen reflected in his glasses. ha, made ya look lol
@timin770 nice gag. but since you mention it, i dont see whats the problem. i've seen videos on youtube where people complain about that. david bowie does it. no biggie. (btw i DO know you were joking, but just thought i'd share)
me too but i needz a better camera.
@hippiegirlsmile Yupperz! xP
@Musicaltyler honestly, no idea man. blame it on the mary
lol@ 2:30 it zooms into the lead/backup guitarist like hes gonna play something sick but then ha just fails and cameraman moves on.
No, you hear Bens guitar, Chris' is silent. Try and hear some finger picking, it just isn't there.
chris walla :DD
la madre q los pario lo buenos q son
I have never seen the person that sings this song, and i had this picture of this really good looking guy in my head.
But, i guess you can't have a great voice and look great too.
10 years later, I hope you see clearly now.
@RyoSanadaOfWildfire clearly you know nothing about death cab for cutie, chris produces the record, did the early artwork and more or less is death cab for cutie as much as ben is.
