    A pro tip i learned over the past few decades when putting seeds directly into fertilized soil, is to make a hole in the middle the size of a Jiffy or Coco pellet, fill that in with either Coco coir, or used Soil from other grows, put the seed in there, 100% germination rate and no more burning seeds with fertilizer, the roots will expand much quicker to look for nutrients. Its a win win situation. Been many years that i managed to not get a seed to germinate, but hey even after 20 years i have done it again and burned a seed that was in a Jiffy, i used mycos and kelp, apparently that was already too much for the poor little seed 🤣. Great Video, thanks for sharing.

      It will still burn a seedling. Hello.

    • @jt70SEVEN
      @jt70SEVEN 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly I believe the reason you were burning was because you were making soil to hot. In a nutshell adding too much nutrients in soil. Basically overfeeding With seedlings less is always better. Which dude points out in video. Just get a bag of happy frog and don't add anything til after at least 30 days..it will have enough nutrition to thrive til then or transplant to a more nutrient rich soil
      Happy frog is mild for seeldling. Only time I've ever had seeds not germating is because of the age of seeds..

      Seed souldn’t burn when using organic fertilizer because they are only avail once the soil microbes break them down. Seeds will germinate before that happens. In nature these natural fertilizer are available in soil and seed germinate just fine.

    Thank you very much for such a detailed guide! I followed your ratios exactly in 5 gallon pots, including adding liquid kelp and an organic sugar every few waterings. Grew some gorgeous and huge plants and I ended up with slightly over a pound excluding trim, off of 5 plants in a 4x4 tent and the quality is amazing too. Water ph stayed between 6.4-6.7 the whole run (using pure lemon juice to ph down) and this was under 3 150w groplanner led lights. Amazing method!

    Not sure if anyone is going to be reading this comment since it's being posted 2 years after the videos release but I just finished my first grow and followed this guide and my plants turned out amazing. I used the same nutrients (Dr. Earth) same soil, and the same size and type of pots. I didn't use the same light but the two I bought were comparable to the one used in the video. The only thing I couldn't copy exactly was the worm castings because I couldn't figure out which brand he used but I started with Gaia green worm castings but those were pricey, switched to wiggly farms and that was a lot cheaper. Otherwise everything was the same. One of the bags of tupur I got came with some gnat larva but a few waterings with some BTI took care of that problem right away.
    I've watched A LOT of how to videos on growing autoflowers but none of them are as clear as this one in my opinion. If you're worried about how your grow is going to go but you can't spend all the time in the world trying to find the best guide for you (this was best for me), this one will be perfect. I also ended up top dressing 3 times. I just did it everyone 21 days from day 1 and adjusting the ratios like is stated in the video depending on where the plant was in its life cycle.
    Thank you Stealth Grows for all your help in making me fall in love with the best hobby in the world!

      @@keynosmith2208 I got the soil he uses off of Amazon. And 2 of my plants had that stretching issue. Ultimately I had to upgrade my lights but getting some bendy gardening wire helped. I would create a loose loop around the plant so it could still stand up and rest against the wire and stick the other end into the soil so it was like a crutch. I've also seen plenty of people just let them flop over and the plant eventually just picks itself back up. Upgrading the light though fixed the problem faster. I did not start the grow out with a good light at all.

      @@keynosmith2208 in all honesty I probably watered less then I should have been. I got it put into my head before I even started the grow that overwatering was one of the worst things you could do. So I was just using a spray bottle for quite awhile. If I remember correctly it was probably up to the end of week 2 or so just spraying around the plant, probably about 3 or 4 inches out to get the roots to stretch, after the soil dried out about half an inch to an inch down. After that I'd just use a one gallon watering can and use the whole can on each plant when the pot got really light in weight. Once I started giving the plants the one gallon of water they really took off, which is the main reason I'm pretty sure I was underwatering them before with the spray bottle haha

    I see many growers mix up their soil in one large batch and it is easier and a time saver. What you need to keep in mind when you do this is that one pot may end up with much more nutrient than the other. When mixing for a single pot you know exactly how much of each amendment is in that pot.

    I like Dr. Earth as it does work really well and is easy to use.
    I had so many issues with my first round of autos due to transplant shock and all sorts of newbie mistakes. I decided my next go to avoid starting the seeds in giant pots but also avoid transplant shock I started them in Root Riot cubes but made the mistake of not having a humidity dome though they did well. I decided to start 2 more seeds by simply putting them in a small bag with paper towel them putting it on top of my light covered by thick dark cardboard until they grew a good tap root then planting directly into the pot and putting a humidity dome on them. I use coco and happy frog mix which I really like so far compared to other soils or mixes I’ve used. So far I’m happy with how well it worked and how much quicker they are growing. I plan on testing a few methods with different seeds so we shall see.

    Thanks for sharing! I have just one question. Why are you so concerned about watering with ph controlled water? Most soils seem to be acidic by nature. I'm growing my 1st auto in my greenhouse right now(almost ready!) in a soil I made from peat moss, compost, leaf mold, worm castings and perlite and have been seeing a lot of hubbub online about ph so I thought I'd check mine. My well water's ph is about 7.5 and the leach from my pot comes out at around 5.8 so I think ph is more of a worry with any type of hydro set up than it is with soil but I'm just an old trial and error vegetable gardener curious about your reasoning.

I use home grown-flower girl-exotic tropical blend, 2-3-1 tablespoons per gallon of medium in 7gal pots under a 150 watt light, gonna add another 100w soon. Have you ever tried using the tropical palm blend? Its got a bit more sulfur and magnesium than the homegrown,, according to the ingredients list. • @MistahBufo
      @MistahBufo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bbolton021398 This first experiment is a bit scuffed, on account of a bad batch of seeds with really low germ rates and two of the three plants were sprouted a month after the first. But so far, the smallest plant appears to be the Gaia Green bag, the Dr earth bag is what i'm calling the medium plant, and the combination Dr Earth+Gaia Green bag is doing the best out of the three, with a massive 2.3 square foot canopy. It's filling a whole side of my 2.5ftx5ftx7ft grow tent. I just got some new bar-style grow lights so I expect these autos will finish strong. I will be repeating this experiment under the new lights over the winter, hopefully with better germination rates. lol
