That's the one thing I also noticed. Even though they're top athletes, the bikes seemed sketchy as hell. Bikes used to make loud clunking noises back then too
they were a touch better than the knobby tire road bikes of the 90s. but man the person who decided 'no these need to be like dirt bikes' is a genius. (probly cesar rojo)
@@rarelycomments mmm when to when. it was knobby cruisers in the 80s, knobby road bikes in the 90s, 200mm bmx bikes in the 00s, and then they started getting fixed by 2010. Quite literally due to the Mondraker Summum by Cesar Rojo. And some of the 2011-2019 bikes are still sick to this day thanks to that.

A wooded area with roots gives away the era. The second part of the video looks excellent, and the track is fantastic!
That roots section looked bad enough in the dry. Would have been absolutely lethal in the wet. What a track!

But Knobbly road bike phase lasted hardly any time at all, and bikes were stuck like this for almost 20 years
