Scanner update: it's working again! Turns out I literally just needed to turn everything off and on again (including my computer) and it all reset itself, LOL! 😂
Probably a stupid idea, but you could do a small video series on top 3 budget, top 3 student and top 3 professional grade paints. You have so much experience across a huge range of paints that it could help those people who want to buy a set of paints in their budgets to know which are actually the best ones for that cost. It can be confusing and overwhelming for people starting out to try and figure that out.
That's a very good idea! I'm in dire need of a massive studio sort-out but once I've done that, it would be a consideration for a video...or maybe a series. 😊
Becky to the rescue with shiny, sparkly, gorgeous paints (I was hunting for something to watch and there your video was! yay)! 😄 Those paints look lovely! The paintings you created with them turned out wonderful. I'd totally use them as bookmarks. Great job 😃 thank you for sharing ❤
This is one of my few watercolor palettes that I own. I really like the paints too, the colors are vibrant and pretty soft, so they wet very easily. One of the pans came out during shipping and I compared it to a standard half pan and it is much smaller, length, width, and depth wise. I do really love this palette, though. It pretty cheap as well for the amount of colors offered.
I've seen people swatch these and they always looked quite nice, but when you painted with them I thought man they look Really nice! And now I want them 😅
I love this set it has the colors you need to mix, they reset like a dream, and the earth colors ate way better than 36ct set, and the brush is Amazing! as a person only watercoloring for 2 yrs I think this is a set that is everything you need to start without having to buy anything separate, like a good synthetic brush, even comes with decent paper.
I originally bought the 36 pan set of Mei Ling to start as a beginner. I keep going back to them. They are really a great watercolor! Your paintings are very pretty and makes me really appreciate the vibrance of their colors.
Thank you for your review of these beautiful paints. I did not need them, at all, as I have the two smaller sets, but loved them and your review so I ordered a set. Thanks again!
I recieved mine a couple of days ago. I ordered it from Walmart in the US on sale for like $22! They had the 24 or 36 color set for $17 It was shipped via FedEx so it arrived within a week of ordering it last week.
That's so cool that Walmart has them! I think Amazon is the only place they're available in Australia, but US seems to get them more easily. You got a great deal. 😊
I have these paints and I too was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they are 🎉. Great set for just playing and so many great colors to choose from ❤
Thank you so much! I was inspired by all of the pretty colours, and they were a pleasure to work with. It always makes the creative process easier when materials are great quality! 😊
I have changed my mind about The Sennelier 48 set .they are too much money . you made me laugh thank you xxxx Than you for sharing happy swatching xxxxxx
I got this set for xmas & love it so it's great to see you review it. All 3 paintings are lovely but my fave is the door, the colours are beautiful & i love the little metallic accents ☺️
@@BeckyTregear Goood to know . I have a tinted paint set from Artway ...you cannot water it down .....meh ....I dont like wisor and Newton Comant paits at all. 🤣😂🤣
Hi Becky they look so beautiful.: i just recently purchased the artist grade they have light fast rating I wanted a cheap set for practicing thank you for sharing hun ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxxx
These would be a great consideration, purely because they're such great quality and work just as well as artist great (or close enough that I couldn't notice much difference, lol).
I have this set and love them! I took each pan out of the plastic part in the metal box and put them in another, smaller box.Check the pen though, mine is not waterproof and it says exactly what your pen says on it.
Maybe I'll double check that pen, but it seemed to be ok on the door painting. I was trying to remember just now if I'd inked it before painting, haha!
Great looking bookmarks. I love making bookmarks. A painting completed in a half hour. I'm going to put this set in my Amazon basket for September. Already spent my art limit for August. Greetings from Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦 🫠
What a fab set!! And the colours are stunning, when you were painting on that brilliant paper I was thinking they would make excellent book markers, but I'd have to cut them down the middle as they are a little too chunky for me, the loose roses were my fave, these are very much like the Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints as I see a slight sheen on them when they are dry like you get with the kuretake sets, but I don't mind that, great review! :D
Thank you! They really are similar to Kuretake paints, which is fine with me because I love those too, haha. Yes the paper is just a little too wide to be considered a bookmark, but I guess these ones would go well in big books. 😂
I think any lightfastness issues can be forgiven with their overall high quality, and also that they're not marketed as high level artist grade. They exceed expectations because of that, haha.
@@BeckyTregear exactly. I do love them and would recommend for anyone who's in a budget or starting out. Even professionals will love these and have a great time with them.
Oooh lots of pretty and sparkly colors in that set. The color layout you see in the pans vs the chart are misleading. The palette colors look like they're jumbled up but when you see them swatched out they do have an order to them. I guess you should never judge a palette layout by it's looks, always swatch them out first 😄
oh wow, these are beautiful! ive only ever heard good things about meliang paints :) ngl the tin alone is so nice (i LOVE that pale blue) and ireally have to hold myself back not to buy it😭 ive already got so many paints but when you see affordable ones like these... its a challenge 😅
I know what you mean, haha! I actually resisted this set for a while, but it was made available for me to review again, and I caved. I'm glad I did because they're lovely, but my paint cabinet is full to bursting, lol.
I have thought about trying those, but then i look at my other watercolours and remember i have too much stuff, need to use the old watercolours up first😝 the colours are VERY nice! scanners always throw a fit when you really need them, glad its back to working
If in the future you decide for more watercolours, then these are great! But I totally know what you mean because my studio is chockablock with supplies, lol. You'll see how bad it is in my next video, haha. I think the scanner had stopped working because I'd left it on standby for over a month when I was out at my Dad's and I'd forgotten to turn it off fully, so it didn't like having to do anything without a hard reboot.
Oh wow - I had to double check mine to make sure I hadn't missed pigment numbers somewhere, haha! Sounds like if they're using cadmiums etc that the colours would be pretty lightfast, yay! Explains why they're so opaque too.
Just an FYI - this set has changed. Some colors have been replaced, others now use different pigments, and the paints now come in half pans in a metal insert like other watercolor sets.

Haha thank you! I think they'll end up as bookmarks - I might trim them into tag shapes and add a tassel at the end, like fancy ones have, haha.

I had a feeling they'd be smaller than a half pan, like not as deep - thank you for confirming that! It's a great set, I love it!
I've seen people swatch these and they always looked quite nice, but when you painted with them I thought man they look Really nice! And now I want them 😅
I was really surprised too at how good they are. I thought they'd be more student-y but they have surpassed my expectations by a lot!

Uh-oh, I've been influencing again! 😬 I hope you enjoy them - this big set is really good one. ❤
I'm tempted to and I already have four sets of artist grade paints 😂
The roses...those shiny swirls won me over...are my favourite this time but I think they're all lovely. Love your videos you always make me smile 😊
I'm with you on that one, haha! Thank you. 😊
Just got my 52 set in today. I've always loved this brand.

I still have the original set and they're still going strong!!! I love the tin as well!
That's great to hear they're holding up! 😊
All of your paintings are fun! I agree - the ink over the flowers just makes it. Looks like a great set of paint!
Thank you, I really like the set; it'll be one I'll keep for sure! I need to donate some items because my studio is overflowing, lol.
just wanna tell, i just love listening to you narrate. your voice has a calming effect on me. also, love your art!
Thank you so much 😀
I have a variation of these:; I too like them. Your galaxys are the best.

Love the paintings. Super bright colours. See you next video

Good morning. Having my coffee with you. I was going to buy the Paul Reubens pastel set but this set seems like much better value. Thanks.
Good morning, I only just got up a little while ago, lol! 😂 Paul Rubens products are good too - this set though is just fabulous!
I’ve ordered it 😂
Looks awesome! Thank you
I had a blast using these - it's one of my new favourite sets!
Great paintings. I really enjoy hearing you talk about the products and your process in doing your works of art. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you, looks like I can add this for my practice.
Yes, this would be a great set for that! Not too expensive but great quality with heaps of colours to mix and experiment with. 😊
This is such a gorgeous set, might have to pick this up ☺☺
I was very pleasantly surprised with how lovely it is! Worth keeping an eye out for sales on it which I think Amazon does periodically.
I have had a 36 paint set same brand love mine

Thank you 😊
They look semi-moist, like Yarka or Prang. Nice Artwork!
Yes, I'd say so. They always activate so easily, I love it! Thank you 😊
Impressive
I have an older set of these watercolours and they're great. They're not very light-fast but they hold up well enough and are relatively cheap.
I think any lightfastness issues can be forgiven with their overall high quality, and also that they're not marketed as high level artist grade. They exceed expectations because of that, haha.

Haha yes, I really thought the colours were so out of order but swatching them proved otherwise thankfully! 😂
The door illustration is great. You should consider a much larger drawing, like a row of shop front or a beach.
Thank you, that's a nice idea! 😊
Always so informative and tbh you really make me want to get a set. Lovely variety of painting subjects and the colours are so vibrant. Thank you!
Thank you, I'm glad the video was helpful, and yes these definitely are lovely paints! 🙂

Love the painting! About 11 1/2 minutes, the colors made me think of ripply stained glass.
Thank you! These paints are so pretty, and wonderfully transparent (except for the opaque pastel colours mixed with white, lol). I really like them. 😊
They had the pigment info in my set. The pastels have cad yellow, orange and red, I can try to post the rest.
The white was pw5
Think some of them have oxgall.
Oh wow - I had to double check mine to make sure I hadn't missed pigment numbers somewhere, haha! Sounds like if they're using cadmiums etc that the colours would be pretty lightfast, yay! Explains why they're so opaque too.
