Back in the 1980's we split lots of red elm and we did it by hand, are wedges looked like mushrooms. Believe it or not it sucked! Red elm sure did burn hot and long. Thanks Jeremiah and have a Merry Christmas to you and your family, and also to your subscribers.
Hello Dean! I was presently surprised how easy it split. Well at least when I’m alone in the woodyard I can work at my own pace and make my own rules!😂 take care man👍👍
Siberian Elm? Oh, so now you are importing your wood? Fancy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 looks like it splits pretty nice. I’m thinking of using a stroke limiter for the return stroke when I’m splitting….
I like your process with the trailer and 2 wheelbarrows. Clean, orderly, functional with your splitter timing. Hey, maybe Mike just needs a mentor??🤣🤣🤣
In the early days of my firewood business about 9-10 years ago I ran into some elm with white bark and my 22 ton Huskee really couldn’t handle it, it took forever to split as I had to run the ram all the way down on every block. Now whenever I encounter that stuff I either leave it or cut it into boiler wood. Siberian Elm is easy to split, not the best for making heat but I’ll use it for summer camp firewood or mix a little bit of it with my winter wood
Mother nature loves to throw that white stuff around this time of year. Your elm split nice compared to Mike's on his video. Have a great week Jeremiah.
Not sure what type of Elm trees we have on our farm. But lots of big mature elms dying or dead in our area in southern Ontario Canada . Anyways i leave em standing dead for a couple years then cut them down buck them up and split all in the same day sometimes. I can split this wood by hand with an axe up to 20 inch rounds no prob. When its green or when its cut and left to dry its impossible to split by hand normally but this way works great for me . Its generally already only 21- 24% moisture content when left standing dead for a year or 2.. It will burn as is but of course i dry it to 15 to 18% before burning or selling.
It’s most likely American elm (Ulmus americana). Those trees are being killed off by dutch elm disease, and in another generation they will probably be gone. It’s a real pain to split, but it makes nice firewood.
The Elm we used run into when I was in high school was quite challenging to split. We would leave it until we got a really cold day (-20 F) and it froze hard, then it was (barely) splitable by hand. Your Elm seems a little more accommodating
on all splitters first thing you do is add guards to protect motor and hydraulics..it simple and gives you more working area..i made mine removable, pinned on
Great job
& a V Tidy wood yard🪓🪓
Thanks 👍
Nice looking firewood your place looks nice with all the snow ❄ ❄ happy new year and Aloha 🤙
Hey thanks! Happy new year you to you also👍👍
Siberian Elm✅ Making a note to not pass that up. 🤣Splits real nice. Thanks for sharing Jeremiah 👊🏻🍻
I definitely was surprised how nice that elm split! See ya Todd!👍👊🍻
🤘I like siberian elm, lots of bark, but split great. "Regular" elm is a whole different story!
I do also! I got real lucky in this elm for sure!👍👍
Hello Jeremiah, Help is always welcome, Merry Christmas to ya!❄️🚜👍🏼🪵🇺🇸

Oh man that don’t sound like any fun! I do not think I have ever split red elm before. Thank you and merry Christmas Ken👍👍
I would agree. I have the wrong kind of elm. Wanta trade? Thanks some much for the shout out. Nice to have the extra help! Stay warm!
I think I will stick with my easy splitting stuff😂😂 Thanks Mike👍
I’ll have to check out your video Mike.
Hey Jeremiah I didn’t think I would ever say this but that Elm split really nice lol. I never have help in the wood yard either. Take care bud.

Very fancy here in the 608!😂😂 Good idea with the limiter Jason. Anything would help with my slow splitter! Thanks for watching man👍👍

Maybe your right!😂 Thanks Jimbo
Looks like Sassafras to me and it splits very easily also...
Have a Merry Christmas!🌲🌲
Merry Christmas Wayne! 👍
We put all the elm aside all year until winter freezing weather and then it splits like butter, I don’t even bother with it until then.
I was really surprised how nice this elm split!👍
Making some pretty splits there from that elm 🌳 👍
I definitely was pleasantly surprised how nice it split up! Thanks for watching 👍

I’m really glad this was some easy splitting Elm! It should make great campfire wood👍 Thanks Joe!
The weather the last few day really made a mess of things. At least with the dropping temps, the ground and snow firmed-up. Less damage.
That’s about the only good thing about dropping temps!👍👍

My Elm definitely was Knott as bad as Mike’s for sure! I have already had enough of the white stuff. Thanks Terry👍

Wow can’t imagine splitting Elm by hand! Sounds like your a seasoned wood hound Jon👍👍 thanks for watching!

That stuff split really nice! I had some elm once and it was very stringy and just terrible to split! Great work!
Exactly what I thought this stuff was going to be like! Guess I lucked out👍 Thanks Tyler
Nit much Elm here in Washington state, but from what I have seen, your stuff slips really nice..
I sure was relieved when I seen how easy it split! Thanks Daniel 👍

Elm burns super hot when it’s dry but me of the best burning hardwoods
I agree👍👍
Nice splitting session Jeremiah! The only elm I’ve ever had was super stringy, I’m not a big fan. Take care
I really thought this stuff was going to be stringy very glad it wasn’t! Thanks Tony👍
I don't know if I've ever tried to split Elm. It's not common around our property. That's quite the burn pile you've got going.
Well if you ever get into some elm this is the stuff you want! Day 3 of burning the pile rain set in a snuffed it out. Most of it burned. Thanks Chad👍
You make that look easy! How old is that wood?
About two months old. Thanks Harry P👍

Great idea!👍👍
It leave elm cut into rounds for 2 years lol then we split!! Good wood tho
I have heard of people doing that before👍
That's not the Elm that I deal with. It is very stringy and extremely hard to split.
I was so glad to see how easy this stuff split! I definitely was worried. Thanks for watching John👍👍
waste with the big pieces
Lots of wood in the big ones!
