Vinnie Vincent is the man! KISS was at the peak of bands career when it was you know who and Eric and Vinnie! That lineup in my opinion! Was a total different monster! Kiss would have fizzled out a long time ago! If it wasn't for this man!

But they didn't because Gene thinks '... sounds like a guitar player on crack'. ... I'd say Vinnie could have been on par with some early 1980's thrash guitar players.
Rick Derringer’s work speaks for itself but I’ve got to say Vin did a fine job on this. At the time this was recorded Rick was regarded as one of the finest guns to hire given Lukather and Dan Huff were already committed to other projects .
I got to see both 'KISS with Vinnie' tours ('COTN' & 'LIU') and he was incredible. The cat could really play but sadly the wheels came off his cart. Sorta like a comet; blazing fast and blindingly bright, then gone.
I reserve the term 'greatest' for guys like Hendrix, Van Halen, Page, Gilmour, and yes, Les Paul, but having seen KISS twice with Vinnie, I must say he was an incredibly gifted guitarist. Sadly he became unwound.
Have a lot of his stuff from Treasure, Warrior, of course Creatures and LIU. And yes, great songwriter and amazing guitar player. Whether you like the guy or not, to say he didn't have a touch of brilliance is simply wrong.
What are you talking about? The band in 1983 was never Vinnie’s. Vinnie is to blame for his antics & behavior. He wrote great songs but was a horrible person as well. Kicking him out was the right move
Vinnie was outstanding in Kiss, huge boots to fill replacing Ace. Vinnie brought to Kiss a much heavier feel. He saved the band that had lost it's direction
no way. the guitar solo here is just not as good. really easy to determine. plus, the tempo of this track is awful. I'm not even sure this demo is normal speed

@@straty5598 I respect your opinion but, as a session musician, I can tell you that Paul and Gene play just enough to make it work. Guys like Vinnie have a natural ear for harmony and operate on a level 17,000 ft above the average player. With that being said, I do acknowledge the simplistic genius of Paul and Gene's formula. It laid the bedrock for what was to come. Some of the early riffs are fuckin' dark, I have to admit. On another point, it is true that Paul and Gene are the creators of the Kiss sound BUT I would argue that both Vinnie and Eric had a vision of the Kiss sound that didn't sit well with Paul and Gene. It pushed them in ways that made them vulnerable and shifted more control, in reality and actuality, to Vinnie and Eric. They both wanted their era cemented the same as Ace and Peter but the powers that be wouldn't allow it, in my opinion. From the evidence on "Creatures", "LIU" and even "Revenge", the influence of both The Wiz and The Fox took the band to the brink of an era that never really was. In an alternate timeline, if Kiss would have fully embraced it's Metallic potential, alot of disasters that arose from the sunset strip and the corporate record companies would have been decimated. Naturally, parts of this conversation border on "Heavy Metal Conspiracy Theory" but are all meant to stimulate intelligent debate🤘.
Derringer's solo was killer, no doubt. Vincent's solo fits the feel of the piece better. They should have used it. Not surprised they didn’t, they pulled the same crap on Frehley on numerous occasions: replacing his solos with unnecessary punch-ins from other players. Pointless over production.
You're kidding right? While i was listening i was thinking "this dude must have wanted to crawl into a hole and bury himself after hearing Eddie." He sounds like a f'ing poor local 'battle of the bands' guitarist. I dont get you kiss fans. You had actual (real) talented bad ass bands like UFO, Scorpions, Sabbath.. How the fuck could you be swept up by a talent show 'costume' band like kiss? Hadn't any of you heard Montrose?.. Iron Maiden?.. Or that Little band out of England.. What was there name.. Led Zepplin? How do you hear 1 song by any of those bands and be a 'kiss' fan. I dont get it. I remember them as lame when i was still playing with hot wheels. The Faces, Free, Blue Oyster Cult.. I havnt heard any stories of liking KISS causing cancer so as far as im concerned its your gain.. My loss. Obviously there's something there that was lost on me. I am enjoying their book narrations on you tube. So.. As a KISS fan.. Who's book do you do you trust more?
This was a Vinnie Vincent song. Paul never wrote anything like this. Paul probably added a few words so he could put his name on his like Gene did on Rock N Roll Hell.
Sounds Great to me. Kiss had transformed into clean hard metal with Vinnie. He gave them the jet fuel they needed to leave the stale 70’s sound behind! I also loved Saint John and Kulick. These were all talented guitarits. I so wish Vinnie wouldda just signed the contract and joined the band. Worry about the royalties on your solo projects.
