@@spencerb6883 I don't care if I'm down by 10+ runs (regardless of what inning it is - though if it's the 9th inning, the odds are rather in the pitcher's favor than mine unless I'm pinch hitting). If my team is losing, I'm going to do my best to help the team win. If that means the other team's pitcher loses their no-hitter, then oh well! The pitcher best keep his great pitching going to keep his no-hitter. That's why it's called a game - for both the pitcher AND the hitter.

TOUGH LUCK!!!!! don't ruin the game by changing the number of players!!! THEN THEY MAKE A RULE PITCHERS NOW HAVE TO FACE 3 BATTERS!!!! W R O N G!!!!!!! I do have a cure for this rule change!! tell the reliever, I'm taking you out after one guy, then fall to the ground and HOLLER, "MY LEG!! MY LEG!!" or after the reliever pitches to one or two guys, have the manager come out to the mound. after a pitch, come out to the mound again! by rule, the pitcher must leave!! AND WHAT ABOUT THE TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS PUTTING THEIR RELIEVER ON 1st base FOR ONE OR TWO BATTERS!!?!

The goal of the game is to score more runs than the other team. That means getting guys on base, which usually involves, you know, _hitting the ball._ There's no rule against bunting. The feelings, pride, and vanity of the pitcher are irrelevant. Play to win.

The scarcity of bunting helps make baseball the inferior sport it's becoming. Any player who can ably bunt (the easiest way to make bat contact with a pitch) could probably beat MLB infielders about 50 per cent of the time, and could vie for league leadership in on-base percentage and runs scored. Any team that does not require every player to practice bunting as part of BP declares in effect that it doesn't take winning seriously.

Love the “unbelievably biased announcers” comment. They say stuff like “I don’t believe there was any intent on a 0-2 count to hit him there right “ because they are right. The count is stacked in the pitchers favor and has no reason to throw at him. Plus announcers HAVE talked about how intentional hitting a batters was but will usually first think about the situation and the pitch that was thrown to think if hitting a batter was intentional or not.

yeah im not sure if you can call it biased either. i mean, only the pitcher knows if he did it on purpose or not, but if he hit the guy on purpose up 0-2 in the count... that would be weird. so i get why the announcers would be like "uh.. i doubt he did that on purpose."

These unwritten rules only apply when you’re in little league and even then I’d just say let the kids play. This is professional baseball. You gotta do whatever it takes to win the game. The only thing I’d say about this is you have one pitch to send a message and if that doesn’t succeed then you failed and you should just play on. Hitting someone 0-2 with a 95 mph fastball in the shoulder or the head is one of the most bush league things to do to someone and it doesn’t help anyone in any way. It ruins careers whether it’s injury or suspension. Learn to grow up and take your beating like the ball player you wanted to be and don’t be soft like a fuckin marshmallow

If the score is close (within 3) and you bunt to get on base, good for you. You are trying to win the game. If a pitcher has a no hitter going into the ninth and you are down by nine, and you bunt, you are wrong.
