    Certainly felt the sincerity and humility in the narration of your fond childhood memories in the East. I can definitely relate. I grew up in Linden Projects, 190 Wortman to be exact. Skelly, big wheels, kick the can, balling in the park all day and night, girls braiding hair on the bench and double dutch rope was the daily norm. Then crack hit like a nuclear bomb and everything changed......Keep up the good work and Repping the East. Only Real Ones can relate. 💪🏾💪🏾

      Facts, I remember ENY from back in the TSS days. Pink Houses back in the earl and mid 80s. I'm from Brownsville, but lived all over the town: Crown Heights, Flatbush, Coney Island, Bed Stuy. Back when Brooklyn ruled the imaginations of people all over world!!!

    • @bkizzu2701
      @bkizzu2701 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Prínxess Saní What I mean is this: I been all over this country, and people were normally very fascinated by NY in general, but Brooklyn in particular. The borough has a very long history that makes many people want to live there or even envy. Everyone loves or envies that Brooklyn swag. A huge number of very famous people are from Brooklyn, Micheal Jordan, Eddie Murphy, Nia Long , Mike Tyson, on and on. And its the reason why so many people want to relocate there.

    This woke up my inner childhood senses, when the video began with the Euclid Ave station. I remember playing on Pitkin Ave. in the summers with school friends from P.S. 159 and family.
    Moving from Bed-Stuy (Myrtle Ave/Murder ave) to East New York, BK was from bad to worse especially during the crack era.
    When my mother applied for nycha in thw late 80's. A year later she was offerd three housing projects to choose from. Brownsville, the Rockaways' or L.H. Pink House's.... I don't know how we made it out of East New York. But it gave me a good perspective on what was to come in life. I hope it's more diversified and everyone looks out for one another.
    Be safe everyone.

      Yeah I grew up in Newark and in the 80's moving to Irvington or East Orange was a step up in life. But once the 90's hit, Irvington and E.O. got just as bad as Newark with the gangs and shit. And Irvington and E.O. had no projects. I came up in Newark when all the projects were still up. Prince St, Hayes, Scudder, Dayton St, 7th Ave, Lil Bricks, Seth Boyden, Hyatt, Bradley Court, Baxter Terrace, etc. When I started going to Brooklyn in my twenties I felt real comfortable because of my coming up in Brick City. i was born and raised in east new York in the late forties the fifties and early sixties. it was a rough tough Italian area and you did not come through the area if you were not known. we had our gangs and we had our mafia people in the neighborhood. we all watched out for one another . i lived at bradford street and atlantic avenue and also in an apartment building at New Jersey Avenue and Belmont. that building is gone now . i attended East New York Vocational High School . joined the military after graduation and never looked back, Vietnam Veteran. i have been gone from Brooklyn and New York but i do miss it a lot to this day. good luck everyone, and stay safe.

I've talked to quite a few olders Italians who remember growing up here in the 60s... they're now in Long Island, New Jersey etc. Neighborhoods change--- I hope that no matter who lives here, we can invest in the area to give folks here opportunities so we can keep improving it bit by bit.

      @@brooklynindigoworld9616 I went to grammar school at Our Lady of Loretto which was located on Pacific Street (school) and the church was on Sackman St. The church was built by Italian American immigrants during the turn of the century and designed to mimic the churches in Italy. About 15 years ago, the Diocese decided to consolidate the parishes into one and Our Lady of Presentation would remain standing and OLL would be torn down. There was tremendous outcry, not just from us old timers, but from the people who were living there now. We had protests and when I wrote to the Bishop, instead of pleading based on the past, I tried to convince him on the basis of the beauty of the building. Even if it was no longer a place of worship, the residents wanted it to remain as a possible community center. I pleaded on that basis; why should folks just have projects and housing. Why shouldn't they have a beautiful building to repurpose and maintain. Sadly, it was torn down a few years ago. I haven't lived there for many years, but the neighborhood will always have my heart.
