My earliest memory of that great actor, George Baker, was in 1958 film "The Moonraker." I'd have been about 9 or 10, around 1960, when I saw it. I still even remember the song from it: "Oh Come With Me, My Turtle Dove."
I also remember seeing him in a later TV play where An American goes to stay with his wife and him. She got him to kill the Yank with a coal hammer!
When he played in the Lazenby Bond film as a Heraldist, much of the Lazenby Bond's voice was actually Mr Baker's dubbed. It was obvious because it was so distinctive.
And I've just found out he was in an early film with Frankie Vaughan called "These Dangerous Years." I remember being taken into a Dundee cinema to see it, my sisters being fans of Frankie Vaughan--as he was the British teenage heart-throb then. I've just Amazoned it to get it, as George Baker is a priest or minister in it.
He was excellent as Chief Inspector Wexford. My wife's from Romsey where it was filmed. It's fun to watch all the cafes, shops, &c, we know. It's always a pleasure to be there in that nice climate, compared to my native colder Scotland where we live.
Anyway, it's a delight to see George Baker again and youtbe the Wexfords. Thanks for this clip.

George Baker was my hero when I was a youngster. I got to see 'The Moonraker' as an 11 year old in June, 1958, at my local ABC when it was a new release, so I saw it two years before you. I was so impressed with it and its theme song, that I went to see it three times in the same week. I must have obtained the money from somewhere, like taking orangeade bottles back to the shop to get threepence each off them. It was ninepence to get into the ABC, so I needed a bit more than that.
