    A couple things I forgot to mention:
    - AF1s are around $65 depending which model/colorway, so every other truck brand beats AF1s in cost
    - Grind lock in felt fine, and at no point did I feel like I was going to stick and slip out of my grind
    This review did come out a little faster than I wanted as I haven't had much time to skate due to work and burnout, but I wanted to give you guys this review. I also feel like the AF1s are broken in enough to have an honest opinion about them.

    I've been riding ACE since they came out in 2007, love the new AF1, thank you for your fun and honest review. I also agree the coping eater graphic needs to come back.

    • @chumster1424

      there pretty light if your worried about them being heavy like indys you have nothing to worry about there pretty light for a raw truck

      @@InHerRoom you're right. it is just as heavy, it just feels lighter because you're shortening the wheelbase which makes the pop feel lighter and quicker

      @@_Maxten your right, I have ace 44s on my tech street board and they feel ALOT lighter than Indy standards, I think a hollow version would feel too light with the same short wheelbase

    The stability combined with turnability is why I love ACE trucks.
    But yeah, the classic bushings popping out is annoying as hell.

  • @Daggermouth8k
    @Daggermouth8k 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Honestly, i had both the AF1’s and the classics in front of me. I still chose the classics because of the tighter axle to axle length and the softer metal. logically speaking, wouldn’t the softer metal on the classics grind smoother than the denser metal on the AF1’s?

    • @jlad7745
      @jlad7745 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you say tighter axle to axle lenght, are you talking about the wheelbase size? if so how much longer are the new AF1s compared to the classics?

  • @RikRiorik
    @RikRiorik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wish Ace made replacement bushings of their own make that are a bit harder than what the stock ones are. Being 210lbs those stock bushings are crazy soft. I’ve had to jerry rig with some harder Indie bushings and some Bones Hardcore washers to try and keep geometry while having more stable bushings. Edit. Just went to their own shop and saw that they are selling ’Hard Bushings’. Top and bottom both 94A. Is that a new thing? Can’t find any for sale here in Europe though.
    Edit2. I’ve gotten the Hard replacement bushings and they have made the truck skateable for me because previously I couldn’t ride them because I’d be in wheel bite town if I misplaced my weight just a little. The Hards are great for me. However I don’t feel like there is that much of a difference between a standard Indie and the AF1s.

    i just moved from indy 159s to 169 titaniums, i always change stock bushings since the 80s. do you think its worth changing the pivot cup to this one? and is it a compromise for turn quality for longevity? and off topic is real denim worth the cost? also that axle rethreader would be very useful if you were to mess the axles up with the nut on the axle when it would be near impossible to get a normal tap set on as you wouldnt be able to get your wheels off

  • @wdavis8387
    @wdavis8387 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    AS FAR AS POP GOES. IT IS NOT THE HEIGHT OF THE ACE TRUCK PER SAY COMPARED TO INDY.......IT IS THE SHORTER WHEEL BASE. THE WEIGHT OF THE ACE IS MOVED CLOSER TO THE LEVER/FULCRUM POINT GIVING THE APPEARANCE OR FEELING OF A LIGHTER TRUCK. AS A RESULT THE NOSE GETS UP FASTER'/TAIL HITS QUICKER.

    Would it be too foolish to swap the bushings for a set of bones bushings? Would it mess up the geometry/functionality/pivot cup? I like that you don't have to use whashers with them.

    • @ThorneBenatar
      @ThorneBenatar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would mess up the geometry. I had Bones mediums in Ace Classics before, and it makes the truck carvy without the break in period but the bushings also got completely destroyed on metal curbs after a very short time.
      I would stick with the stock Ace AF1 bushings.

    Really love your review. I bought the AF1 44’s. But then I saw how sharp the 33’s look now as af1... the old 33’s looked too tall and the middle “the triangle” that goes into the pivot cup; was way too wide. The new 33’s are more narrow and clean and thin... proportional to the hanger: both 33’s and 44’s are my all timers

      The wheel base is measured by the deck width between the trucks right?

    • @happyfingers55
      @happyfingers55 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree! I tried them on a 13.75 wb. It felt so unstable, then I put them on a 14.25 wb decks and I love them! It makes it have so much more control. It feels like indy, only with a pop feel that takes no break in time, less wheel bite and a better turn overall. That is just on the classics though, I gotta try these af1's!
