18-24 could enlist in military and be called upon in times of war. But they should not be force to serve and it should be by personal choice. That's the policy in the US and PH gov should adopt it. So students won't succumb into rebels and terrorisms. They should offered free education to the college of their choice upon honorably discharge of military service.

mandatory military service isn't bad but this is the worst time to implement it. not only have students been struggling with academics and mental health during quarantine, imagine how long it will take to recover from this. our country has yet to develop the economic side, but is now focusing on the military sector. people are comparing it to be the same thing as south korea and Singapore. The elders of this country keep on claiming to say that they had experienced so much so that we would have a better future, so we have to suffer the same because "it isn't fair." Mandatory Military Service is just insane; instilling another two years for something we never wanted to do instead of pursuing what we wanted to do. The nation is at the time of peace, not war, for them to make Military Service mandatory. The funding would take a toll in our economy, heck in our mental health. WE WANT TO PURSUE OUR PASSION, NOT JUST THE OTHER PEOPLE'S PASSION.
Time is different now, Our quality of life is easier, heck, even our schools are easier even if it's stressful, however, that shouldn't even be a factor to put us back on shape. The new generation is more inclined to pursue newer careers now because of how open it has become. We could have been citizens that would've benefited the country's economy by the time we turn 21. Now, we had to turn 23 for that to happen, add this MMS and turn it up to 25?
People might say it's for patriotism, that it's for the best of the country, and it's because we're not physically fit; No, No, No. If you want patriotism, fricking improve the History Subjects. Make it a priority because it will not hurt the economy. If you want what's best for the country, Improve jobs! Improve the education system! Improve the fricking economy! This law is senseless in the time we're in.

@@bernadettejuridico5526 Better prepared? This is exactly *why* drafting is a thing. This is the same topic as the 2020 meme culture has described it. Drafting is basically Mandatory Military Service in times where war *actually* happens.
Heck, if the MMS would be of worth kasi let's say may digmaan nga, is it even worth it to send the younger people, we eighteen year-olds, to a war that the elders literally created? In our newer generation, wars are fought through debates and heck even toxicity online. The internet has become a battlefield for most topics that used to be the reason for lethal wars before the net was introduced.
If it only happens in times of war, then I'm somewhat fine with it, but never when were are at times of peace.
You know, countries like South Korea and Israel implemented these laws because they are currently in war; there are no other reasons! Sara's reason is to instill patriotism and discipline which can be obtained in many ways like making GMRC an actual subject again.
How about those writers and animators, doctors, computer coders, singers and artists, and law-abiding citizens who want nothing to do with the military force? They could use their material to *stop and protest against wars.* We don't want to be instruments of war, we want to be vocal against war itself!
They could've limited this proposed idea to those who didn't have a complete primary or secondary education; or those who had an undecided college course career. But no, it's for everyone. *for everyone.* A new ROTC bill already mandated 11th and 12th graders to learn about military basics, so why push for something more?
WW3 is a thing the new generation always wanted to avoid through words and anti-violence. This is not an issue of country fighting countries, this is an issue of pushing the innocent people into fighting an upcoming war that they've never heard of, or that they are never part of.
If you insist with MMS, Remember that with the help of the ROTC Bill, all the while strengthen scouting, We would have learned the basics of self-defense and survival. We do not want to resort to violence if WW3 actually begins. If one's interested to join Military service, then let them be, but never ever mandate people who have a passion for a completely different career.

Dahil hindi itinuturo sa public schools kung paano ang pagiging isang makabayan, ang military training o rotc na gusto ni Sarah ay walang kabuluhan. Unfortunately, the guest did not have a straight answer when asked about internal and external threats which is why we actually need military training for our citizens. Waiting for them to interview someone from my generation who are current reservists and ready to respond should we be called to active duty. I already primed my family in case that happens. If at all, the lack of military discipline is one contributory factor why student leaders are lead to the communist side because they allow themselves to be exposed to leftist ideologies without understanding the side of the government particularly the role of citizens in safeguarding our civil rights against terrorists and communists. The younger generation is against mandatory military service because that will interfere with their much prioritized work-life balance not realizing they need to look after society as a whole and not just their own personal bubble..

And there it goes....Well, it has not happened yet. There is always the good and the bad in anything. However, Military training is far better than "hazing" where youths have died for nothing and its just for the mere reason of becoming a member of a fraternity. No one knows what is tomorrow. If and when Philippines will be facing God forbid, war, I want to ask him how will he defend himself, his family and his country? He just mentioned the issue with China. So, what must the government do to protect its sovereignty if no one wants to learn how to.

Sa mga matatapang mag comment ng Negative about South CHINA Sea and SABAH, please join the military service. If you're a elementary student please volunteer the SCOUTING program. If you're a junior high school please volunteer the CAT, CMT program. If not you're an HYPOCRITE. It will be beneficial to have a mandatory military service, not only for the country but for the individual who will undergo training because it will discipline them and give them focus instead of being distracted with trivial things. On the other hand... People are afraid of the military because of the supposed "hazing" or the "initiations" to it, if the trainers will take out the hazing part and just teach the military methods, then the new generation will not be afraid to it. I think the mandatory military service is a good thing as long as the trainers will respect the individuals they will train and not torture them.

maybe some think its cool and maybe some think its not but maybe it really is better if it was voluntary, because many students already have a problem because of k-12 that those elders didn't even experienced and now theyre gonna steal another 2 years. hahahha, well its better to be ready than not and its also better if we can protect ourselves in case something happen but the circumstances to make that........ For me I'll just go with the flow Im still finding myself in this world but maybe if time passed I would eventually found it, is what I thought........
