    So when I came into the hobby some years ago the Pelikan in ocean swirl had just come out and I wanted it so bad but I hadn't had the money at the moment I waited 2 days and they were all gone and now the resale value has quadrupled it went from a 400 dollar pen to a 1600 dollar pen but after that I kept looking . I got the goldspot magazine and on the front by golly looked like a replica of the ocean swirl but in a teal color. it was the Leonardo Momento Magico in Emerald and I gotta tell you. I love love my Leonardo memento magico emerald with the jowo broad nib omg its the smoothest pen I've ever used and it had an amazingly beautiful well placed ink window and its super easy to clean just unscrew the nib housing and rinse the innards out like a eyedropper its amazing. The piston is one of the smoothest however it does have some give in it which I am not a fan of but its so beautiful I am mesmerized every time I look at it. I got it for 199 dollars on goldspot website and its so worth it go check it out :)

    Had to laugh-“DHL extortion to your door”😂😂😂
    In Australia we pay a fortune for all international shipping. DHL is by far the fastest. 4 days from Europe to Australia. USPS cost the same (or more) and somehow it takes them 3-5 weeks!

    Not having ebonite feeds for the steel nibs in the MZG 2.0 is a lost opportunity. That was a big selling point for me when I bought a couple of Grandes. Beautiful resin, piston filler, a great nib and an ebonite feed; those four things were the Leonardo hallmarks in their higher end models.

  • @paulmchugh1430
    @paulmchugh1430 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I had wanted the MZG in the Stardust resin but it was sold out. I do enjoy my MZG Mosaico, though I wish it had a window. But the resin construction is awesome.
    I will have to look for the Stardust. It is mesmerizing, to say the least.
    I did purchase the Leonardo piston tool and yes, I am glad I did. It make maintenance so much easier.
    Great review, Doug. I am sure you will enjoy this pen a lot.
    My Mosaico came with an "elastic" nib. I don't know if it is made in house. I suspect it may be made by Jowo.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The elastic is made by Jowo - at least the one I have. If they have the new sunburst pattern on the nib, they are Leo.

    I wish they still engraved the name in the barrel. That’s something I always loved about that pen while watching your videos and I recently bought myself a Momento zero and I saw that it’s printed on the cap now. I think the engraved name on the barrel adds a nice touch to the pen.

    Great Video... was FD2022 not November 4th? I penabled a former co-worker that day, with a farewell gift, her last day... November 4th... just belated realized that that had been FD2022... But, again... loved this comparison... and awesome pens...

      Thanks for watching! I should make an "errata" posting as I've just confirmed with Leonardo that only the 14k gold nibs are currently made in-house. The steel nibs are Jowo with Leonardo's "La Finece" stamping on it.

    As usual, great review Doug! I love Leonardo "spaghetti resin" pens, so I opted for the "Baobab and Sea Anemone". I couldn't decide, and purchased both. And, like all my other Leo's, they did not disappoint! Cheers!

    Just finished perking a pot of coffee (yes, perked. On the stove. With what else? A percolator that's not been made since 1949. Gives me enough to last the weekend and reheats don't burn.) So set for this video. Careful sips, as almost boiling coffee out the nose can be painful.
    As always, a very enjoyable video with a pen currently out of my price range. Similar sense of humor you have and I can hope and save.

    Well unintended impulse FPD purchase in 2023 went sideways being an unstocked pen/ink well with a long wait for it. So I paid an extra 24 Euro and ordered this pen with a steel stub nib. I do hope it arrives on time as the 3-4 business day DHL shipping from Holland seems like it will be really likely 11 calendar days. So a Nov 6th order being finally delivered Dec 11th ...heavy sigh!

    Awesome review, really enjoy your channel! According to Salvatore Matrone, only the gold nibs are in house, the steel ones are still Jowo, but stamped their new 'la fenice' imprint. Leonardo has posted this on reddit, but TH-cam keeps deleting my comment if I paste the link to it here. I have the gold nib on an MZG 2.0, and it's great. The tipping is different from the Jowo nib, it's squared off, rather than round, but is still a smooth and wet writer.

    This video highlights a comment I made, on your review of the Narwhal Dragonet. I've watched another video; about the Stardust pen, and no one who bought one; and commented; including the channel creator, received a pen the color of your pen. The pen that was featured was so different as to not look like the same pen release. I find this to be very frustrating.

    Doug, I agree that is a beautiful pen. I am desperately trying to stay away from purchasing more fountain pens (at least until I sell some!). Your reviews are certain great influencers. I love Appelboom already, but your discount is also inviting. I am supportive of nonprofit organizations that really need me to be less selfish and more dedicated, so I will enjoy the MZ Grande 2.0 vicariously! :)

    Great Video. I have the 324 same finish, just a gorgious pen. Probably my favorite behind my Visconti HS Crystal Dream, but nothing compares to this one. I use Kon Peki, Leonardo Blue or Jacques Herbin Lie de Thé with that pen, always a pleasure.
    I have also a Leonardo Momento Magico Emerald, I prefer the LMZ Grande 2.0 for size and finish and it post more deeply, it's just the brand's most successful pen at the moment, and one of the best of all.

    Good day. I wonder which camp I fall into, Troll or pleb? ;) I got me a new pen also. I got a Japanese packaged Platinum Preppy blue/black in Fine(came with extra ink - * ink is like hens teeth up here). I find that, like no other, the preppy is ready to write at a moments notice. They write noice.
    I have a special edition of the preppy(F) I am treating as a precious, so I got a blue/black version to see their ink as well as having a kick around pen... Interestingly I have the Twsbi swipe - it would be near perfect(writes always, large converters included, great nibs...) but the extra fine is like an eastern medium that I find it limited in it's use. The Twsbi EF is midway betwixt the Preppy Fine and Medium, just a touch too large for a one-one replacement for normie pens...
    I feel there may be an in-depth survey of the nib landscape in need to guide and educate the ill-informed and the inkquiring minds.
    **That Strangelove clip was perfect, :P *My favourite scenes are between these two underrated thespians...
