I just watched this movie for the first time 2 days ago. Never even heard of it before. The opening music pulled me into the movie before it even started!
I love Akira Ifukube's scores. So epic, however he suffers from originality sometimes. He's created tons of memorable scores for TOHO's monster films, but with time against him, his scores suffer. Thus, he has to resort to older scores sometimes for reference. This track, about 1:08 in, listen to it and then go back and listen to Frankenstein Conquers The World's score (which was done a year before), track called Fear of Baragon. It is the exact same except an octave higher. Still it's awesome!
This excerpt is taken from the original soundtrack? A shame this music has not been rerecorded with today's digital sound and the phenomenal orchestras the world has. Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra for one.
@joporter84 Much of his scores suffer from this issue mainly from the result of deadlines needing to be made, especially during the mid 60's Kaiju boom. Often times, I heard he'd come up with compositions right on the spot. But with that in mind, along with the sheer amount of films he scored for that genre, I still say he did a damn good job with all of that considering!
I sincerely hope that Takashi Yamazaki, who directed Godzilla Minus One, will make a remake of this film.
I would pay to see that
Ifukube is is simply irreplaceable.
I concur.
This theme has a combination of impending doom and whimsical awe at the act of kami (god) that is Daimajin. Incredible intro.
The Daimajin Trilogy score was Ifukube’s best work.

Ifukube's repeating style never really bothered me. I always like hearing his different takes on his themes.
I feel the same about his work.
It's his own genra. And he wants to expand within his own summoned genera

Jonathan Portman Also, it's part of Sanda's theme from War of the Gargantuas, subsequently.
seem like there is no perfection

Well. When you make 10+ scores a year, your bond you re-use your own work
The music as much as says "Bye bye, Samanosuke", the bad guy who's about to get a poetic justice death.
凄い!映画見たけど、むちゃくちゃかげんが😮素晴らしい❤
amazing stuff. Very close to stuff he did for Toho, but then again, think of how many movies he had to work on at the time!
水墨画とても上手く描いている。迫力が ある。

Akira Ifukube also uses the Dogora theme here...
Very nice show de bola.
I just watched The Northman for a second time.... I smell a similar soundtrack.
床の間に飾って置きたくなる。
godzilla vs king ghidorah?
Where and how can I get this soundtrack?
he recycles melodies all of the time, 1:08 you can hear in Godzilla vs Destoroyah
Dachampster That's also part of Baragons theme from Frankenstein vs Baragon, and Sanda's from War of the Gargantuas.
大魔人
