on the rotors whatever you have confidence in and makes you happy on a different note managed a Richmond Park ride myself today was a bit of a fiasco held up on journey there then my ride partner ( wife ) forgot her shoes so a very short park ride for me but it was dry 🤣🤣
Nice one Ray, I was there too, we probably rode past each other haha!! Like you said, at least it was dry for once!!!! 🙏🤘
My first thought was you leaned Trek against the tree stump the wrong way!! Drivetrain against the stump. 😂
Been soooo windy recently so mostly back on the gravel bike a mere 72kg easy to get blown around on the road bike. Narrower handlebars way to go for comfort. Doing the same with my gravel bike soon.
Don’t worry Joel I was very very careful hahaha. Narrow handlebars for the win then? 👌
After my fit, I put 380mm bars on. Much better for me. I put the black Dura Ace 160mm on my new wheels. Which look neat. Though at 60kg, I could probably get away with 140mm front and rear. Maybe one day.
Great shout that, liking the sound of the black dura ace’s, have you considered a 140 at the back? Do it!!!!! Haha 🤘🤘
In the 80s we put cowhorn bars on our bikes and thought we were the business. Despite the shoulder ache and it being a death trap 😅
😂😂😂😂 Brilliant!! I was riding a Raleigh street wolf in the 80’s and deffo thought I was the business hahaha.
@@therookiecyclist being a little older I had a gold Raleigh Burner in the BMX phase. They are now selling for £700 plus!
@@SS-ec4rv That’s mad!! So assuming you didn’t manage to hold onto yours then haha
@@therookiecyclist nope! The 80s was a throw-away decade I reckon
👍on turning the hoods in. Shoulder problems just make it a better fit for me. Being a "larger" rider, I'd prefer the 160 on both. But, like so much in life, when you have the chance to do so do whatever makes you happy.
Thanks man, I think it made a difference in terms of bars being a little too wide for me too but I will certainly do it with the narrower bars also!! Sounds like the 160’s are perfect for you, I’d been wanting to try the 140’s for a while now so we’ll see how I get on haha. Thanks for commenting 🤘🙏
Great video bud. Bike looks stunning. Not sure I’d fancy swapping rotors over. Although it does look pleasing to the eye. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Ad, nice looking bike isn’t it!! Haha, yeah maybe swerve the smaller rotor hahaha. Thanks man 🙏
Nice to see that you are having some good weather, up here in the East Midlands it's been absolutely bollox. Still stuck on the turbo 😢
Oh nooo!!! I mean the good weather is few and far between but if I can duck out and get a few km’s in I will whilst I have the chance haha. Sorry to hear it’s been shit though, let’s hope there’s decent weather coming your way, cheers Ady 🤘🤘🤘
It will make you faster, you’re saving a massive 20 grams on a 160mm.!
Great point Geoff I didn’t mention the weight saving haha In for the win 💪 cheers mate 🙏🙏🤘
It must be spring that makes us want to faff around and fiddle with the bikes, I replaced the bar tape and tilted the shifters inwards a couple of days ago. My setup is never going to be remotely aero but it feels more ergonomic and comfortable that way. An added bonus is I find it's slightly easier to shift gears when in the drops, because the bottom of the shifter lever is now tilting outwards, your hand doesn't have to push inwards as much to engage the shift. Not a thing if you have Di2 I guess!
I think you’re bang on!! Tilting shifters made a difference for me too, I’d say even more so because the bars a little too wide. Actually it does still make it easier with di2 also, is di2 something you’d consider? 🤘
@@therookiecyclist I love the idea of di2 but it costs many times more than my cheapo bike! If we're talking fantasy build, electric shifting for sure, I quite like the sound of etaps wireless "blips". I'd stick em all over the bars and maybe even sew them into my gloves so that I could change gears when riding no handed!
Another great video. Keep it up. Brighter weather in London compared with Manchester. My TCR came set up 160 front 140 rear. No issues really. Just got a Revolt Gravel both 160. To be honest I don’t notice any braking difference.
Nice one Kevin!! That’s interesting with the TCR, I didn’t realise some come with that set up, I haven’t noticed any difference at all on mine either. I suppose on a gravel it makes sense though, if I was doing huge descents I’d deffo go back up to 160 though to save from them burning out. Cheers man 🤘🤘🤘
Regarding brakes, mostly I mostly focus on 1) can they stop me from crashing into the person in front of me; 2) can they stop me quietly? It's embarrassing when I come to a stop and kids are covering their ears and babies start crying. I'll have to think a bit on the aesthetic aspect.
‘Kids covering their ears and babies crying’ 😂😂😂😂 yes fortunately I’ve noticed no difference at all as of yet, the only time my discs make noise is in the rain and I don’t ride much in the rain so win win haha!! Cheers Bill 🤘🤘🤘
Uci fine for inwards brake levers incoming 😂
😂😂😂😂 What is the score with that Tom, are they allowed to tilt them or is up to a certain angle??
@@therookiecyclist they are only allowed to turn them in a certain amount 😂
