McLaren P1 at COTA - WR TV POV Hot Laps

- The engine roar of the world’s most exclusive cars signified an event of a lifetime on Thursday, March 31, at the Circuit of The Americas. Combining fast cars and philanthropy, participants raised more than $161,000, benefiting the Center for Child Protection.
“This year was our 3rd Annual Ride.Drive.Give. event at Circuit of The Americas, and it was another great success,” said Sam Butterworth, Center for Child Protection board member and Ride.Drive.Give. event chair. “Ride.Drive.Give. is such a unique event to Austin because it allows participants who have a passion for driving to experience the thrill of speed, all while giving back to the children in their city.”
More than 70 drivers experienced the sensation of navigating the world-famous Circuit of The Americas track where they experienced the 20 challenging turns including the blind corner at Turn 10 and the harrowing hairpin at Turn 11. Participants also received one-on-one instruction from professional drivers and were given the opportunity to drive exotic cars including a Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 650S, Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2, C7 Corvette Z06 and Porsche Cayman R.
Forty of the day’s participants signed up to experience the speed of reputable HyperCars as they rode shotgun in a McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.

About the Center for Child Protection
The Center for Child Protection is a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center and the only nonprofit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. For more than 25 years, the Center has been the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a child-friendly, specially-equipped facility where children go for recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention. All services are provided to children and their protective caregivers free of charge and are available in English and Spanish. +Tiberiu I don't know, seems like they honestly kept it a tad conservative! In the esses especially, I didn't perceive that they were really cornering hard. For sure though, having mainly only watched F1 and LMP1 car laps of the track, seeing a road car lap can truly seem slow in comparison lol

+Clement Charles It's interesting, I raced around COTA in the P1 on a Forza 6 simulator that was setup right after riding in this P1. It was interesting to compare how the car felt in the game vs. real life. We were hitting around 180mph on the back straight in real life, and in Forza around 190+mph before braking. The car's handling character seemed pretty similar in-game to real life. But what an experience it was riding in this thing, the acceleration is relentless.
+Winding Road Magazine Forza 6 is more sim-cade than simulator, try the P1 out in Assetto Corsa if you have a PC would love to know how it compares

great FOV on your camera, makes it look closer to what the human eye would see vs those distorted pov other channels use

+amanoncrack True.. I would've thought they would have an overhead for the cooling system to cope with that though.. and in a P1, I don't think that even if 10% of the power was used to drive the AC that it'd make much of a difference to the overall experience :P

such a cool way the engine is made i hate hybrids but hey i'm never gunna buy this car so it is what it is but the more they become nice the shittier the interior is yea i understand the rear wings work to now slow the car down good but from the viper on to the ford gt on to this car there all becoming too weird looking the rear view mirror kills it for me they could of made a reflective material or non reflective anything but 3 inches of plastic to go to the small rear view you pay all this money and get barely any features shit i rather get a porshe gt1 gt2 then ever deal with one of these......too much technology not my thing i like the gtr hate that its not a inline 6 in think the best buy prob be a toyota supra 97 or one of the lexus F's
Your name explains it all to me, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, if you want to nit pick over the rear view mirrors then you obviously have no interest in cars. You're not paying £866,000 for a car with rear view mirrors, you're paying for one of not the fastest road car, around the track, in the world, furthermore, the hybrid system is not used to make the car more fuel efficient, in fact it serves to "torque fill" whereby it provides tourque whilst the massive turbos are spooling up...
people have switched it to anti-lag check out no limit motorsports and petrol works sometime and for the price damn car better come with mirrors the gt3 and gt2 come with em but calm down dude lol no mattter whats said for the price super cars are just ehhhh and ive gotten chances to drive them your right it is meant for track fun but you have dumb asses who cant drive using the car not knowing shit about physics and there stuck up if you try and teach them something so the stupid people with cash yes they need mirrors other wise if you've raced in the past with shifter karts and learn more then just turning then you get to enjoy the car but i rather have all engine no hybrid crap and again anti-lag on them is nuts but dont get mad idc what they did with there system lol the car would of done better without it again anit-lag turbo was the best option some customers did get
