To prevent grains from getting pixelated: click effect>document raster effects settings>set resolution(150/300ppi)& click 'anti alias' . you can increase the 'add area amounts' in that panel to stop large blur area getting constrained or squared.
THANK YOU SOMUCH for the video sir 🙏 For the viewers who came back to refer for basic steps : 1 make dark/light coloured copy of the object 2 give the top object a Mask and reverse the masking (Unchekc CLIP) 3 make masking shape to it and give it b/w gradient 4 apply GRAIN (Effects > textures > Grain) with Grain type: STIPPELED and pereferd values. 5 get out of the mask mode. (ALTERNATE TRICKS with little different output): alt1 : give gradient to top object with color to transparent, then apply Grain : regular directly to the object copy. alt2 : give gradient to top object with color to transparent, the apply Grain : Difuse glow directly to the object copy.
If you want the grain to look softer, you can also throw Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur on the mask to ease up the hard edges. That plus increasing raster resolution (I like to put it around 500-600) can help a lot if you're going for a more subtle grain appearance.
Hey! Great tutorial. Love how everything is explained step by step. If I might give you feedback, I think it might be clearer if you explain what’s happening behind some of the settings, more of the why than the how so it's easy to understand and grasp. That way it isn’t just a "follow these steps" but more like a general understanding of gradients so people can do more with this knowledge.
I can't upload a grainy gradient background on the Shutterstock website because it shows the message, 'Your vector contains either pixel-based bitmap objects or raster effects.' How can I fix this?
how can i use this on photoshop as a smart object, as a background for example, I wasnot able to convert it into a smart object for my background. Do you know about it
@@tt_tutorials i am not a native speaker and not really understanding what you mean by that.. can you explain it in other words? (i have the same problem like nungus)
hey I successfully did your tutorial. But it is separated (the base and the effect). When I try to drag, only the effect moves. How to combine the effect and the base? should I just ctrl-G it?
Great tutorial, short and straight to the point! One problem, when I ad the gradient and noise I always have to refresh preview to see the changes (ctrl+y on mac). Do you have solution for that problem? Thank you.
how do people make an entire illustration with this effect? I'm using just the normal noise texture and it doesn't get the same result, but i can't imagine making a whole piece only editing the gradient through the mask
Thank you for watching! 🙂 I hope this Illustrator tutorial will be useful for you. Don't forget to subscribe, share and like!

your tutorial don't work on illustrator 2023.....
Honestly thank you. I was able to do that in a fraction of the time. Good stuff.
Simply what the world needs

how do people make an entire illustration with this effect? I'm using just the normal noise texture and it doesn't get the same result, but i can't imagine making a whole piece only editing the gradient through the mask
For some reason when I use the grain effect, the grain is black and kind of rainbow colored instead of just black and white. Why is this happening?
Thx you sir😊
