Conspiracy theories can be fun to engage in and be a part of, as long as people know they’re just in it for giggles to see what they can connect to what. It it goes as far as harassment, harming people or legitimately trying to dupe people for monetary game that’s not fun any more. I think there’s a mix of both here and you presented it in a fair way.

I absolutely love this semi-informative podcast format, you two have a great dorky chemistry and I can listen to it for background audio while I work for hours. Literally binged this entire channel in a day because it scratched that itch I didnt know I had. Always great to see something new uploaded to this quality gem of a channel.

About the tree covering the letters... maybe you get to this later in the video, but... I mean PT has been so thoroughly copied and fangamed and memefied at this point that it genuinely wouldn't surprise me if someone knows PT through reputation without knowing the history behind it, and could actually be referencing PT without realizing the connection to Kojima and Silent Hills. We kind of take this stuff for granted cause were fangeeks, but these things can happen. For a long time, I only knew Persona by reputation, and didn't realize it was connected to SMT. It's weird but it happens.
Still, coincidence is by far the most likely possibility, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

I've played a little bit, but never got very far on my own. Almost everything I know about the series comes second-hand from watching playthroughs by people like VoidBurger and SuperGreatFriend.
what i feel is the fans are being blamed instead of Blue box , i know they apologized for the "starts with S ends with L" tweet but it feels like they did this as a marketing strategy to get more eyes on the game

I think a good question to ask right now is "Why do we want a new Silent Hill game?" Would a new horror game be improved if we saw Heather Mason being scared again or Pyramid Head being menacing? Does a game need to be set in a spooky town specifically called "Silent Hill" for it to be good? What does being a part of that franchise add to the quality of a new horror game?
As a big fan of the series, I don't understand the obsession with having Kojima make a new SH game. When Silent Hills got announced, my greatest fear was that the series was about to be taken over by Kojima and his crazy fans as there was no way Kojima was going to make a SH game faithful to the original titles. Seeing the franchise get entangled in Kojima's BS anyway even after Silent Hills was canned is frustrating. Frankly, I'd rather wait and hope for a revival of the series rather than hand it over to Kojima.

@@radekseky4571 yeah that's how I'd respond. If you doubt Kojima would do a good Silent Hill, PT should put those fears to rest. I'd also like to see Elijah Wood's take on Nightmare on Elm Street, which he's talked about several times. When someone like this who you don't expect seems really interested in doing something in a franchise, someone known for quality, usually it's because they have a cool vision and are passionate about it.
@@westingtyler1 P.T. was amazing but it also wasn't a full game, truth is we don't know how the story would've been executed. It's like when the Phantom Pain's trailer came out and looked amazing but a lot of people found the actual game to be disappointing story-wise. I like Kojima's writing but Team Silent's storytelling was very different from his, it was more subtle and didn't feel the need to overexplain things. I would love to see a full horror Kojima game but it doesn't need to be tied down Silent Hill.

as some people pointed out there is at least one game called Sigil, it's a Doom mod from 2019 made by John Romero himself, it's pretty great!

Like how Hassan is the only person at Blue Box we know actually exists or is ever shown? The old website of theirs always said they were a team of 10, but when talking about employees they never gave any names and all their pictures were stock images from Google?
Or how they said they were seemingly working on this game since 2017 and only threw together a shitty trailer with pre-bought assets?
Or how they had a kickstarter for their game, made $200 off it before a private investor paid the rest of the thousands of dollars they were asking for?
Or their other game which was in production in like 2016, but was canceled and given to another team which does exist, but the team is apparently a department store that like sells electronics or some shit and most definitely never had any game developers?
The only games Hassan has officially published have been asset flipped iOS games that he made in like 2013.
There is A LOT to delve into on this situation, and, not just for the conspiracy theory, but also just for the entertainment and intrigue of it all.

One more nail in the google translate screenshot's coffin btw, it clearly says it's translating "eiyuu" (meaning hero) from japanese to turkish, *using english letters*. If you use the japanese spelling of kojima's name "秀夫", it just comes out as Hideo. Odds are the word processor got mixed up when the brainlet tried to translate an english word as japanese.
I just watched the teaser trailer. I could tell about the quality of the voice talent, this wasn't a Kojima productions. The teaser feels amateurish. But I can see how it misleads some people. Kojima is known for being secretive and loves tricking their fans.
Wouldn't that be the ultimate ruse, though? The whole idea is that you should feel as though it is an indie title. One of the biggest give aways for The Phantom Pain trailer and PT was the VA. If I were Kojima, I would deliberately use amateur voice work to keep people from ultimately concluding it IS a Kojima IP.
Even making this look like a over enthusiastic indie dev making a mistake makes it harder to tell if Kojima did THIS on purpose. Obviously it's really hard to tell at this point and the biggest flaw with conspiricism is that lack of evidence always feels like evidence of a cover up.
The coincidences feel very Kojima so it makes for a difficult puzzle IF it is one. But, it looks like it's not. If so, shame on Blue Box for being so cryptic.

Hasans just a typical bullshitter. It was a great marketing strategy at first but he lost control of the reigns. When Konami kicked in it looked a little weird though especially with there Silent Hill pyramid head merch that looked like it was missing an s for silent hill(s) you guys are right though a new silent hill game would be tough, expectations are so high, they should just remake the original 4 in the same style as the remaster of Resident Evil 1

@@westingtyler1 I haven't played the game (or Silent Hill), but from what I've heard/read it seems similar to SH1/2 and is reviewed well on Steam.
We cant make one ourselves because we can't agree on what Silent Hill should be like. Interpretations differ so much that if you put together a team of talented devs, creative differences are bound to happen, and not the kind that can be easily handwaved. And if you get a group of people that agree in their views about the franchise, good luck having two of them to have experience in development.

That could happen with any fan project and the more "odd" the source material is, the harder for it to be replicated "authentically" (As in mimic the feel of the original). As an outsider looking in, it just seems like Silent Hill is about missing loved ones and trying to find them through any means necessary, to risk everything just to save them. Lost In Vivo is about finding your Dog by going through the sewers and encountering some monsters, so by my logic it fits the criteria, but what I described would be a simplified description and it may not be what makes people like the franchise in the first place.

Yeah at this point the rumors and conspiracies have reached Qanon levels of bullshit. It's not fun anymore. I can imagine at some point every rumor is just gonna be actual self aware "haha look how pathetic we are" memery so everything becomes even more nihilistic and depressing. Also i think we're better off with no SH game at all than ANY possibility these rumors can lead to. Play SH1-4, appreciate that it was possible to make these games, let it go and move on. That's all i can say.

Team Real and Team Fake thing originated from the Phantom Pain fiasco with Kojima and that fake studio head who had an interview with Geoff Keighley. There were people who believed that the guy was CG and they used the Fox Engine to create him…so it was kind of a joking callback to that.
I think I know what the application will be! "The haunted black water creek" is the game they made. It has two ghost hunters and in game "chat" that will help the ghost hunters.
I am guessing the application will be us helping the ghost hunters as they walk in real time and we interact with them with the "in game chat" in the game engine.
It would be interesting, but then it just proves that maybe it's not Silent Hill.
Maybe this application will be able to be used so your friends can chat while you play, that be interesting.

they didn't really debunk the conspiracy. they just spent an hour saying they didn't buy it - that each piece of evidence was a stretch, which is fine, but not really a "debunk" as said at the end. I think based on Kojima's past, it's entirely feasible he'd do all this. Any other dev, i'd say it's crazy to believe, but Kojima loves ARG stuff and would definitely up the ante if he did it again.

KojiPro’s February 2020 tweet definitely was teasing a SH, what else could it had been? Nothing ever got announced a week later, and months later Kojima talked in an interview about a project falling through that he was sad about, so yea it adds up. Just because it didn’t happen doesn’t mean he wasn’t working on it, tons of games get canceled all the time before they’re revealed. Part of the Kojima/Konami breakup had to do with Kojima revealing SH before he was even done with MGSV, way too soon, so it adds up that he wanted to reveal it again perhaps a little too soon.

I don't think it's Silent Hill, but it was unreasonable to think they could tweet that out without people thinking of one of the biggest survival horror series of all time.

I mean, it's not that they were eastern-developed, it's that they were made by one specific team (with, granted, rotating staff), who actually did have a specific plan for a Silent Hill 5 before they were forcibly split up by Konami. I think it's very reasonable to only be interested in the work of those actual creators and not Silent Hill the Brand Name, which I couldn't care less about. But it might be different for people who grew up in fandom spaces while all those other SH stuff was coming out.
yeah, as far as i'm concerned, it would be great to see a Silent Hill 5. I'm surprised the hosts in this vid didn't also consider the Pachinko machine, if the brand is all it takes for it to be a numbered entry. If it was called Silent Hill 5 and included a great team like Kojima, Junji Ito, del Torro, that WOULD be worth getting excited about.

This is a super unpopular opinion, and I'm not really what it is about them, but I've never really been a fan of Kojima games, so when Kojima wasn't able to work on silent hill anymore I wasn't really all that torn up about it, cause no matter how objectively good the have may have turned out to be, I know it would have been super different to all of the past games
would you have liked a Silent Hill game that felt like PT? I thought it would be a fresh and serious take on the franchise.
This can only end in 2 ways: 1) Silent Hill(s) is real and people will lose their shit over it (even if the game is not up to the hype, people will say "you just don't understand the hidden meaning and finesse of this game's writing. But I digress) 2) Bluebox is a tiny studio with nothing to show for, nobody will pay a cent for that game after finding out all of this was just a big trolling campaign, and they kept faking their way up to unmanageable levels they couldn't even fathom would happen. They will be burned to the ground in social media.

I don’t think it’s silent hill(s). But I do believe we’re going to get that Kojima horror game that was going to be silent hills. More like that TGS trailer and less like a traditional SH game.
Honestly at this point I would be fine with three things:
The first one would be a good Silent Hill game that juat follows the spirit if the franchise to it's best abilities, the second would be a mind-blowing experience thet once again becomes a hallmark of the industry and raises the standard once more and the final one is keeping the franchise buried.
I am fine with Downpour being the final one. It's an alright game, it did som interesting things and had probably the best story since The Room. I don't mind the series being dead. It's legacy is complicated and ranges from awful to the greatest experience video game horror has seen. And I am content with that.
A good game that follows what franchise has done should not be too hard. Vatra managed to do an alright job in my eyes, I liked Shattered Memories for what it was (I liked how it did something different with the established lore) so I don't think that a solid psychological horror that can invest us is impossible. But why settle the franchise with mediocrity once more?
Which leads me to the final one - the mind-blowing experience. How likely is it? Maybe if Konami gave someone else the rights. Maybe if some amazing dev team realised where to take it and how to bring us the true next generation of horror. But even if Kojima SOMEHOW picked it up and wanted to do the project, he is put on too high of a pedestal. I love him. Man is quirky and crazy, but for one he is a different person than he was 7 years ago. And that's fine, people change but we wouldn't be getting his original vision for Silent Hills that he had back then and two, he can veer of into stupidtown pretty easily. MGS V was perhaps unfinished but it was him. His vision only incomplete. Metal Gear Solid 4: Train to Stupidtown WAS TOTALLY him. And Death Stranding had quite a ton of stupid within itself.
The sad thing is I don't think we will ever get Silent Hill 2 of this generation. Not under the Silent Hill IP. And that makes me sad but I will rather let it go than hang onto it and accept...whatever Bloober Team might be cooking up. I don't want another bad or mediocre Silent Hill game. Origins and Homecoming were quite enough, thank you.

There is Sigil by Romero it is Doom unreleased level. Konami announced collab with Bloober Team. They made Medium and worked with Akira Yamaoka. After tweet bomb Konami started to promote SH stuff. Abandoned is connected with SH. Too much coincidences.

I think Hasan needs to show the real game as soon as possible and not drag this out til August, If he fans the flames of the hype train and this turns out to not be Silent Hill, his game is gonna bomb.
There are a lot of unanswered questions in regards to his company, the game and who he is exactly. How did he get the funding? Blue Box is supposed to be an indie dev, but he’s outsourcing to multiple companies like a AAA game studio. I think this is a AAA game studio in disguise, maybe not Kojima Productions, but some other big name company.
I think it is somewhat important to mention that Hasan Kahraman stated on Twitter that the 'Abandoned' teaser has nothing to do with the game; it was apparently just something Blue Box Game Studios hastily threw together in order to be able to show something.
Yet BB Game Studios states there are 7 outsourcing studios working with them on "Abandoned"

Even not considering that it should've been uploaded to servers at that point to get poped right away. Farce. My take on this is they would tease it as Silent Hill, then provide a decent point it isn't to break everyone's hopes, and then go full 360 non scope to make a surprise anouncement of the Silent Hill.

Love the video and love all your P.T related content BUT that whole thing about Google Translate being wrong is... misleading at best. "Hideo" -does- in fact translate to "kahraman", and shooting down this fact for the sake of argument is factually wrong. True the kanji used are different from the ones Hideo Kojima uses in his name, but the word is "hideo" none the less.
Thanks for this, I noticed the exact same thing. It’s one thing to disagree with the rumor going around, but they constantly dismiss stuff here just because that’s their side now. That one in particular caught my attention. I’m not even a believer that this game is silent hills, but they seem like their insulting the fans talking about all this theory
Not just that but they missed over literally 90% of the points that are the reason people think it's Kojima, just feels like a really lazy video.
So, when you type the Romanji "Hideo" into google translate the kanji that pops up is 英雄, which means "hero" and is usually pronounced "eiyuu". What you have to understand about Japanese names is the kanji they use and the way they are pronounced are completely divorced from each other. You can take a bunch of kanji that mean one thing and it's pronounced entirely differently. Often times they pick some auspicious kanji like "hero" and pronounce it differently. It'd be like if you could legally name your kid "SweetMonsterTruck" but have it pronounced "Jeff".
Kojima spells "Hideo" with this kanji 秀夫. Copy and paste that into the Japanese to Turkish Google translator. Notice how it says "Hideo"?
You are basing this on translating Japanese to English then back to japanese and then to Turkish. It's a stupid coincidence.

On the point of working with Konami, any game being PS5 exclusive is what makes the rumor/theory more believable, because that would mean Sony pitched a deal and is funding the game to whoever they wish, whether it’s Bluepoint for an MGS Remake or Kojima for a Silent Hill. The people making these games wouldn’t have to interact with Konami themselves, and Konami wouldn’t say no cause they’re not funding anything, it’s free money. This already happened with Zone of the Enders 2, it’s how we got an awesome VR port for it. We can still get awesome Konami games as long as Konami’s not making/funding them. The MGS movie is in production too, with Kojima as a consultant, it’s not like Konami’s gonna sabotage that.
