I have 4 pet regal jumping spiders, and their spinnerets are fascinating and slightly humorous at the same time. I'm amazed at how strong their silk is as they create a safety line while walking on my hand, but their spinnerets look like twirling hemorrhoids to me lol

@@cojanemanuel8319 They just don't scare me anymore ♥ I hold at least one of mine daily. I just see them as cats with 8 legs. I used to be terrified of spiders though, and I was for years. I've never been bitten even with handling them. Just because something has teeth doesn't mean they will bite. They are just sorta adorable web puppies :D

@@cojanemanuel8319 Nah, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you ♥ You can't help what you are scared of. I got over my fear slowly while living with my brother in law. He had so many bugs in his house that I started letting the spiders live. I'd see ones I recognized and started giving them names. Helped take some of the fear away.

Spiders are amazing. I used to be terrified of them and I forced myself to interact with them and watch videos like this to try and understand them. I used to kill them instantly and now I'll take them outside. I appreciate them now and only am timid around the real dangerous ones.

Highly recommend you check out into getting a regal jumping spider as a pet. Used to be terrified of spiders, but these guys are so fascinating to watch. It's amazing to observe them watching you and you realize that they are far more terrified of us than we are of them.
Remember, we are literal huge monsters that can easily kill them if we want to. They are infinitely more scared of us than we should be of them. And they genuinely have better things to do than harming you. Just be extra respectful yo them in Australia.

This is all very fascinating, but there’s just one problem I have with this process: spiders can recycle their own thread by eating it so they can use the protein from it to make more. If there aren’t any insects around, how will the spider make more thread if we keep on milking it out of them?
I read it takes a week for the silk to regenerate
@@cap4137 Then I’m assuming they’ll have the spiders milked in daily shifts. One group of spiders gets milked the first day of the week, then another on the second, and so on and so forth. I could be wrong, but I can only see it working that way.
@Andrew Hager wouldn’t it just be easier to have two groups of spiders? Batch 1 is milked on week 1, batch 2 on week 2 while batch 1 milk regenerates. They might even have more batches, depends on how many spiders they have I guess.
