Thanks so much. I could not get my new IPhone 15 to coneect with my 2015 Macbbok. I thought it was an issue with the new USB C connection. Tried an adapter, new cable and even took it to a repair place, It was it the Finder preferences. Did not have the right box checked. Thanks so much!!!!

My iPhone was missing from the Finder. The cable was fine, but the coupler it was plugged into did not recognize the iPhone. Once I plugged the phone into another coupler with the same cable, the Finder finally recognized the phone.

@@yodakoi8638 Worked it out. They change things in the ios when they bring out updates way too much just for the sake of change. Like learning a new language every time. So annoying. Quicktime in Monterey is especially user unfriendly compared to the way it used to work.
