1:37 I love how Droopy had a smile from playing the game, but it dropped to a frown when that scream rang out. It's a nice little subtle nod to the fact that Droopy had no idea what was going on, and was 100% confused.
Idk. I think he's actually that smart. I also play dumb similarly sometimes. My supporting evidence is that scene with the lighter, and Droopy disappearing.
@@TheAltruisticAutistic Droopy obviously is, cuz that nigga was gone, when Spike had that lighter lit for him, which ignited the gas fumes in the house lol
This episode was so funny that Spike tried to knock off Droopy to get an inheritance but it kept backfiring and literally blowing up in his face or in one instance really sticking it to him in the end.
I love the details of the droopy cartoons. You notice at the shotgun kill attempt: droopy didn't open the door all the way so the string was never pulled tight enough to fire the shotgun, you will also notice the shotgun was not aimed at head level for droopy so it wasn't going to hit him anyway. But when spike opened the door: he opened it all the way triggering his own trap, which was aimed at his head level. This not only proves spike isn't as smart as he claims; but also the fact he sabotages himself more than droopy ever does to him. [A quick edit] If you pay attention this trap could have actually gone two ways; which is actually predictable for a droopy cartoon where someone tries to outsmart droopy. Droopy could have opened the bathroom door all the way; but being the gun was not aimed at his head level, it would have hit spike anyway even if he was hiding, not just spike setting it off on himself, this is double proof of spike being dumber than droopy and dumb enough to cause his own demise. Most of Spike's traps could have and would have worked if he paid more attention to his surroundings than the possible outcome of droopy. This is why Droopy's owner left the fortune to him and not spike; droopy outsmarted a fox and multiple fox hunting dogs by being the hero and playing the game, spike is careless and reckless, not taking into account half of what he is trying to do against droopy.
Yep, it reminded me of a Tom and Jerry episode when a window fell on Tom's neck and Tom makes that classic scream just like Butch made in this cartoon. I've been trying for years to see if I could make that Tom scream my ringtone, but unfortunately, no luck.
I'm sorry but you have committed a CARDINAL sin in this compilation. You left out the single best part of this entire episode of Droopy: "TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM(CRASH!)ber!"

Some cartoons were good after 1970. So many of them were good in the 40s and 50s. And I'm just talking about the artistry and the imagination of some of the gags.
What I find funny about this is that in spite of these gags being literal murder attempts, Spike manages to survive all of them, implying that even if they didn't fail, Droopy would still be completely fine, if a bit marred at the end.
The one episode that was real hilarious with Spike and Droopy was the one where Droopy went to Scotland and bought one of those Leprechaun hats and throughout the whole episode Spike was chasing Droopy everywhere because he thought Droopy was a Leprechaun until Droopy managed to escape by getting back on his plane and Spike was taken away to the Looney bin which is kinda weird that there were 2 hospital doctors who happened to be at the airport right at that exact moment.
That’s my favorite. I like how when Droopy fell into the water, it’s actual water, and he swims peacefully, but when Spike or Butch had a turn diving into the pool, it ended up going the wrong way for him 😂
Of course that last one didn't go off! Even if the barrel was tilted enough to catch Droopy at his height, he didn't pull the door far enough to pull on the cord.
It was really funny when Droopy played Pin the tail on the Spike who screamed like Tom right out the window.

William Hanna was working at MGM at the time with Tex Avery. Tex probably asked Will to provide his trademark screams.
PIN THE TAIL ON THE DONKEY
That is because droopy is also an MGM production just like Tom & Jerry.
@@i.m.evilhomer5084 Nah, It's mostly Tex reusing Hanna's screams from his shorts. (Most of the MGM shorts recycle sound effects, screams, vocal effects, etc, Lol.)
