  • I spent a day with native Fijians in their village during my vacation in Fiji. Lovely people and great hospitality! Josi my friend a native Fijian cooked homemade Vakalolo, Fijian seafood dish & I cooked fish curry with brinjal in a wood burning stove.
    Unforgettable memories!

    bringing back some precious memories when I was in Fiji 2003 to 2005 the best food I ate was when I would meet the poor Indians in the slums, or the Fijians villagers they were the most sharing and caring and their food was so delicious. I was there for the LDS church as a missionary. Ika vakalolo my favorite along with Indian Fijian curry and roti of course, Do you have the recipes for the fish curry. Fish curry was delicious with the coconut milk, the best one I ate was when we walked into the slums of raiwaqa a Indian family cooked for us so delicious.

    Their lifestyle is always borrowing stuff from others.....the reason why they are so welcoming is because they will get something back.....tthe woman of the village are very hardworking and man are also but because of their culture they don't think out for the future but they live in the present......

    • @IndianCookingwithSuganthiSu
      @IndianCookingwithSuganthiSu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hello my friend, just wanted to respond to your comments.
      First of all they don’t borrow from others. The village is like one big family with different kitchens. Thats how I saw it. They share things among them not borrow. Thats the right word. Secondly they did not expect anything from us. It has been 7 months, we still keep in touch. Jimmy called us yesterday, just to say hello. He again said the friendship we have between us is for ever. whenever I ask if they need anything from USA and all I hear from Jimmy & Josi is, we need nothing and all we need is your friendship’.
      They live in the present and enjoy the blessings of today. Any relationship will thrive and flourish, by give & take. There are good and bad people in all the communities. Give respect, love and be kind. If you do that you will have the same experience like I had.

      @@IndianCookingwithSuganthiSu well...good luck with your unbiased opinionated comment.....basically tell that to someone who lived there and try to change their mind....tell that.someone who always gets robed of their money at a local store....or gets bitten up...if he speaks....actually fiji has become the little communist country....since they are ruled by China......think again because people of fiji doesn't have any freedom to talk about their governments since govt control all of their news outlets.....everything is controlled by Chinese govt......since they give money to build....hospitals...roads...ports...on and on....even loans to fiji government and when fiji cannot pay their debts or interest....then these Chinese govt will take over fiji.....same thing they did to Tongan and most of the little Pacific Islands......look it up....

      Ravinesh Prasad I agree with you 100% about what you wrote about Chinese and Fiji Gov’t’s ignorance of the China’s intention of taking over Fiji in the near future. I have written about this danger and warned in other social media. But who is in the top posts in the Gov’t? There are lot of Indians in power. This is something the citizens and the Gov’t should work together and stop selling Fiji away to China. Criticizing Gov’t is not a positive way of getting things done. Work with your local authorities and go from there to higher ups.

    The plastic is a form of petrol when it melts it goes back to gas again or oil only to ignite the fire for couple of minutes then it goes away theres no way to bury the plastic at a landfill or rubbish dumb. And if they do they burn it anyway.

    • @IndianCookingwithSuganthiSu
      @IndianCookingwithSuganthiSu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are saying, “when the plastic melts it goes back to gas........”
      Do you know what that “gas” consists of?
      When you burn Plastic, it produces dangerous chemicals such as hydrochloride acid, sulphuric dioxide, dioxins, furans etc...
      These emissions are known to cause respiratory illnesses, affects your immune system and finally it causes cancer. That’s why you can not burn plastic to cook. You inhale all that dangerous “gas” it emits and the gas also dangerous to the environment you are living.
      You can not just dump the plastic in the rubbish ( garbage). If you do, it will end up in the waterways and finally, one day will end up on your plate when you eat your fish that munched on plastic particles.
      It is hazardous to sea creatures as well. Sea creatures die because of plastic dumped in the garbage. You can not bury plastic. Because “PLASTIC NEVER DECAY”.
      The RIGHT way to dispose plastic is to “recycle”. If your town doesn’t have a recycling system. I urge the locals to Talk to their local authorities to help you to recycle.
