After 20 years riding only 5'10"-6'2" I got talked into buying a used 5'6" hybrid performance fish and it was the funnest board I've ever had, and I've tried a LOT of boards in my life.
I broke my back, used performance fish with trailer fin to get through recovery and never got off it, I want a little round tail or rounded sq same Dims see how it goes on backhand. Without a middle fin I find performance fish still a little boggy on backhand, probs just me tho. Forehand it goes amazing
I’m 6’1” and used to ride a Machado CI 5’4” fish. So much fun, but the only downside was that it had LokBox and those popped right out of the glass from turning. I got a disco 5’4” and a gremlin 5’7”. Super fun for small waves. Never too tall for small boards.
Sounds similar to a lot of Dan Mann boards: Flat rocker, wider tail, strong V/double concave between the Fins and a flip in the tail. So this board should be really fun…
I’m 6’1”, 165lbs. Just picked up a 5’7” gremlin 3 fin setup. So sick, one of my favorite small wave boards. Can get so much pop and flies through flat sections like no other.
I like how JJ says head high lowers like it’s some regular occurrence 😂. That’s a ‘good day’ board in SoCal. IMO, Pyzel boards are made for everyday Hawaii waves and ‘good’ SoCal days.
I agree tbh. I surfed my buddies board since I ride for my shop…so it’s been a while since I have had a “normal” board. Long story short it was so obvious that this is not a surfboard made for socal
Just got a 6'4 Red Tiger, surfed it in SoCal today and it held its ground. Was super easy to catch waves and the size/ liters helped with duck diving and catching the sets. Most pyzel board have the widepoint so far forward that the average surfer has a hard time keeping the speed on them. Made for and tested in the Hawaiian waves which are one of the most powerful on earth.
I though of this. What do you think of this: custom mini ghost 5’8’’ extra narrow extra volume. Or custom white tiger super super narrow and short . Would these make good grovellers for 175 lb 5’11’ athletic guy for indo?? Good ideas? Or kooky?
The new boards (RT and WT) may appear similar to Phantom and Gremlin when you only compare outlines, but they are very different in all other regards. Completely different. first, Phantom has the wide point forward and a wider tail. I´m not sure about the bottom contours, but the red tiger is suppose to be pyzel´s HPSB with the flattest rocker yet so there is that, this board is going to replace the shadow for John, so has more performance than the phantom. And the WT I think it is a new and refined version of the Rat Skull but i haven´t read much about that model so i cant compare them.

Hi guys! As a Riversurfboard-Shaper I was wondering about the side Fin position: how and why would moving the fins forward result in more drive?
I would imagine it reduces turbulence near the fins, giving the flow of water more distance to develop more laminar flow as it reaches the back fin
Volume volume , bottom contours, Rocker ....my key on boards .
