I am watching this after completing the four scenarios available at time of writing, with tears in my eyes and a fierce pride in my heart because for me - the city did survive. 11bit knocking it out of the park in terms of emotional impact again.
This really makes me want an animated (or otherwise) series about a last city. Not Snowpiercer or The Colony, a steampunk city struggling to survive. A cruel world of paranoid people and surprisingly, a classless society (that setup has been done enough, so not poor Vs rich, more multifaceted). The series could go into incredible detail about living in a frozen world for the sake of world-building. I would assume that the environment would be unlike anything in our world so Inuit and Eskimo traditions wouldn't entirely be recommended. The show would follow a few characters as we explore their motivations. The old gruff and depressed woman who remembers stories about the old world (400 years since and true technology is not present because of necessity, unreliability and paranoia in the decades since the apocalypse). Older citizens have almost given up hope of returning to warmth and younger generations do not care for the past. They were born into an acceptance of peril and live heartily for their short, hardy lives must be sweet. Their isn't much of a wealth disparity or ruling class, however, each role has benefits and drawbacks: Engineers are prized and applauded but any wrongdoing that hurts the machines is treated with harsh punishment. City Guard are brutal yet cowardly, volunteering to avoid leaving city safety. Deliverymen live even shorter lives, dying in the waste or later, from injury and icelung (the cold freezes their lungs). Most people live deep in "The Well" and conditions are worse toward the surface. The hearth gives warmth to the entire city but is beginning to age, a secret kept by the engineers for fear of being punished and Of spreading a panic. The Engineer's believe they are the only ones who can fix the issues and work tirelessly/hopelessly to save the city before the secret gets out. Radio is almost impossible with the raging storms above and sound is the most common method of communication, through televoice pipes in dwellings or foghorns signalling morning, assembly and delivery. There are other players who have their own motivations: controlling the black market, restarting expeditions to find a new harbour, scientists trading morals for evolution, utilitarian scholars preaching the many over the few. Then Vs Now. The series would explore themes of morality, sacrifice, hope, division, happiness. When no option is good enough, which consequence is better? Basically, the series would be a Frostpunk playthrough formed into a narrative for people to watch and the choices are driven by different characters, not one player, conflicting and compounding with each other. One group wants to leave the city, this will hurt the survival of the city. One person cannot make a necessary choice because it would make them hypocritical. I really want this as a book/series. Please, someone see this and make it happen.
I'd love to see that too. A big budget Game of Thrones style series would be perfect for this. Honestly, one of the biggest challenges in running such a city is something that game didn't deal with since it only covers a short time span: Managing your natural population growth. Just imagine the nightmare of trying to keep your population from increasing too fast in a world with long days of hard labor, very few recreational activities, and no birth control. Every woman that gets pregnant is someone who is cut off from the labor force for nearly a year at least, and every new infant born means more people and resources have to be diverted to full-time parenting duties.
@@TheStapleGunKid Ye, it could follow several characters and have one or two decade-long time skips for each season. I like shorter series so I'd say 3 seasons and the 'main' character is only a kid for the first season or if you do 4 seasons, they aren't born yet. We skip to see them in a rebellious phase and later when they are a parent and settled in. Other characters have died but a few of the focus group are still alive by the end of the show as we have narrowed down to the most important storyline, the fate of the city.
my friend....why dont YOU make it happen? I see a synapses more than an idea here and would offer supplementary ideas and support if you just opened up a doc and started bulleting your damn ideas. they're awesome. cheers from a supporter who wants to see more people reach their fullest potential in life
It's just so fascinating how only slightly animated 2D art, a good voice actor and a gloriously intense soundtrack make this trailer one of the most impactful game trailers of the last 5 years
11 bit studios No, thank YOU! It was my pleasure to be able to play this amazing game. I did, however, have a bit of a question. I'm not sure if I can get help here, but I was wondering about the "New London - The Art of Frostpunk" book. I noticed that it was being sold with the Victorian edition, but I already bought the game and, as much as I would personally be willing to give you guys more money, my parents aren't so keen on that idea. Basically, my question is this: do you guys sell that book separately as well? I've looked everywhere and I can find nothing. Thanks for any help you guys can give!
Just downloaded it and can't wait to experience this beautiful game. I hope that yall continue on with the series, the lore/background of frost punk. I can feel as if i am there facing all the hardships with my people in the game.Thank you 11 bit for a masterpiece.
@11 bit studios: Is there an actual lore? Like is this in the same time period like today just we went into another ice age, or a complete spin-off of our current timeline.?
"We knew the cost of our journey...... and we've paid the price ... .... a hundred times." This trailer....my heart... Many died on this journey. Yet the way they say is mean that these deaths are not "a" price that was paid. Each life mattered. "Each" life lost was "a" grim price that they had to pay to reach their destination. They paid a hundred times, each time was as devastating as the others. This really shows the magnitude of their care for life, for each other. Even more so, the magnitude of hope they have for the destination.
It was a long time since a strate... a surviva... any type of game had bring me this such of joy. Frostpunk is an instrument of beatiful atmosphere, truly epic story telling, and mesmerizing music mixed in an intense, hardcore strategy/survival game. And it's more than that. Frostpunk shows you a mirror, reflecting a piece of personality that lies within you. And it's asks the questions. What can you became in such wrong situation as a leader? How far you will go, in order to ensure the survival of your people? The survival of the last stand of humanity? Thank you 11 bit studios to bring us this masterpiece. I cant wait for future updates :D THE CITY MUST SURVIVE.
-Bought the game a week ago -So far enjoy it -Realize its the best game i have ever seen -Bought some dlc -Enjoy even more I am waiting for Frostpunk 2, even if because of inflation i will not be able to buy it. Good luck guys.
Spent the whole week playing this game over and over to get endings and achievements. Rarely got to enjoy a game so much, thank you for the most awesome experience, you rock!
They really did a great job of making the game feel _painful_ . You really feel the struggle against the elements and the weight of all these horrid decisions you have to make to try and keep everyone alive.
I hate the fact that I am too late for this trailer. I had heard about Frostpunk before but never bothered to play it. But this trailer dropped on my feed rn and I watched it coz I was bored. I was watched this probably 20 times. In that time I immediately went and brought Frostpunk and starting my first playthrough. 6 six years too late yes, but better late than never. THE CITY MUST SURVIVE.
There is never to late to play frostpunk. This game atmosphere is Just incredible. The music, the moral decisions, the frost. It is a game that stays with you for years. I really hope you enjoyied your first time with this gem of a game
I believe it would be even colder, think about it, screaming hot desert while day and ice cold overnight. Going north (or south) reduces this to an even point. Atleast thats my theory
This is one of those games/entertainment where you wish you could erase it from your memory, only to enjoy it again. The build up was so beautiful and the arrival of the storm, absolutely perfect. I cant remember if this music was playing during the final event but my god it felt like it was. Watching all the warning messages pinging like crazy and all you could say was hang in there everyone! We can do this. Masterpiece
I just don't know what it is but every time I see trailers of this game and listen to "the city must survive" I have tears in my eyes. This is literally only thing that made me cry in last couple of years. And at this point all I think is that this masterpiece is actually made for it. Made to touch cold hearts with even colder storm of feelings. True art that reaches the deepest corners of minds of those people who almost forgot how to feel something that can make them cry.
The first time I realized how immersed I was into the game was when I looked at the child labour law for the first time and I looked at the picture and thought "these poor people... I must help them" and than I realized that was the first time I had showed true feeling in a city builder game
I bought it in 2024 and I can't believe it's so old already. It's a masterpiece. You'll fail, fail again, but you'll get better. And when you get to the end, it's one of the most incredible gaming experiences there is. The atmosphere, the music, the sound effects, the cutscenes, everything is so coherent and a work of art. It's one of my absolute favorites.
The themes in this game are just too good! Humanity's resolve. Our ingenuity. Our will to survive not just as individuals, but as a species and communities. The immense strength of a determined and/or hopeful group of people. The balance of survival and keeping what humanity is within us. Not to mention the game itself is great.
Downloading the game right now and by watching the trailer I got goosebumps. Such an amazing game you guys have put together. Looking forward to keeping the generator burning!
Idea for a spin-off/prequel/sequel to Frostpunk. A game focused on those Land Dreadnoughts. Manage the dreadnoughts journeys across the frostlands, gathering food and fuel, collecting scrap metal and steam cores to repair the dreadnought when it breaks down, guiding it through rough terrain, scouting out safe routes for the dreadnought to take, locate cities both successful, failed, and collapsing to take on refugees and drop them off, salvage automatons to help streamline dreadnought functions and more.
@@electrohalo8798 I love DoK (but then I've also been a Homeworld fan since 1999) and I think that idea has something there. I could see something like that for Frostpunk.
Just the sights of the people barely walking, about to collapse at every moment is enough to convey the feeling of the game. You're not building and thriving, you're surviving. The city MUST survive!
I beat the main scenario twice now. At first, going in blind and new to the mechanics, I had to resort to brutal means to secure the survival of the city, and still only barely achieved it. The second time, knowing what was coming and being far more familiar with the tools at my disposal, I brought my people not only survival, but peace, pride and even prosperity. Yet even after all that, this trailer/cinematic gives me absolute goosebumps at the end. The music, voice-over and artwork are just awesome and so evocative together.
I got Frostpunk for free on epic. Playing it a few hours, I realized the devs deserve my money. Literally just a few hours later I bought the game on steam and still playing it today. Although, I don't have much hours on it but these days I've been playing like an addict. Can't wait for Frostpunk 2. The city must not fall!
I love the fact, that the theme of the First game was more about the people, and bending morals to ensure survival, while the Second game is more about growing outward, and expandind. This is apparent in the main slogan "The City Must Survive" in the first game, and "The Citt Must Not Fall" in the second. All in All, 11 bit studios truly outdid themselves
This game is without a doubt one of the very best I have ever played in my entire life. I even bought my friend a copy and he just texted me that he can’t put it down :-)
I gotta say, the game itself is amazing, but what really makes it splendid are the soundtracks used... The music in this game is jaw dropping good, i can't play or even just watch gameplay of this game without finding myself having the same feeling as watching an epic movie. Really, this music has the same effect as the one used in Dunkirk.

The most atmospheric game ever, I was totally immersed in it and you could really FEEL the cold and the struggle, love especially that your screen itself get frozen over in the corners and you can hear the crackling of the ice and the chilling frostbitten winds. Adore this game!! I only want more and more and dont want the game to end

What i really like is music. One main theme, played differently, makes me cry about child froze to death or smile to morning sunshine. Games like that are the reasons why video games are equal to art, so thank you for it.
It really takes mastery to make you experience this much emotional intensity in two minutes. As for the gameplay, I don't remember playing such a creative and original game in a long time. I owe a thank to game pass too because of I discover the game with them. And now I will purcashe the game to do justice to developers. Thank you 11 bit to release this, fantastic job man...

I'm a really patient gamer so I waited this long to get the game on Steam during the last sale (even after it being handed to me free by Epic), and holy crap I wasn't expecting a city builder to be packed with so much detail, beautiful graphics and artwork, emotion, even moments that make you break out in tears. Along with the masterfully written soundtrack, this game is a true gem, thanks to everyone who worked on it!
The dreadnoughts in the trailer are so freaking cool. Please somehow add these in-game in the future... Maybe a scenario where you have to build one and move to another city? I'd wet myself (then freeze myself).
You created something rare in our days. The game that is uniqe, smart, challenge and fun. Also, I never skipped intro. Could not do such thing to myself. I cannot wait for FP2, my hope is on maximum.
Outstanding game, and worthy of the praise it has been receiving. 11 bit studios have earned themselves some serious respect from me, not just from Frostpunk, but the Anomaly series and This war of mine as well. Great to see there are still some Devs out there making fantastic games that are worthy of supporting.
Finally got around to playing this game after close to 2 years now in my library chilling. I have only succeeded once, the other times I failed...but to see the one time I succeeded against the storm that we survived, and then the words "We didn't cross the line" made me nod along grateful my restraint was correct. The only thing I regretted, was that I was too willing to let the Londoners leave when I had managed to regain hope to convince them, even equipping them for a journey I didn't know they would survive... And then the Storm made me realise whatever hope I had sank the moment I said "Let them go". This game does things to you if you're soft like me.
The trailer moves me more than I thought it could. It gets really hard to find good Singleplayer games these days so I'm grateful to have experienced this game.

I see a synapses more than an idea here and would offer supplementary ideas and support if you just opened up a doc and started bulleting your damn ideas. they're awesome. cheers from a supporter who wants to see more people reach their fullest potential in life
"The Hateful Eight" just watch it.
@@razeenag8478 I've already seen it, I'm not quite sure what that has to do with what I described...
It's just so fascinating how only slightly animated 2D art, a good voice actor and a gloriously intense soundtrack make this trailer one of the most impactful game trailers of the last 5 years
I beat the first scenario and just sort of sat there literally screeching like a banshee cause I was so awed by the game.
Thank you! :)
Thank you!
Yeah I'm downloading it right now; I can't wait to play it! (it's going to take a while tough because my internet connection is made out of bamboo >,
I literally rushed home on my lunch break just to get the download going lol! So it'd be ready for me to play when i got home hahaha.
@11 bit studios: Is there an actual lore? Like is this in the same time period like today just we went into another ice age, or a complete spin-off of our current timeline.?
BasicallyNuclear a complete alternate timeline. As the name suggest Frostpunk is Steampunk style game. There's airships, robots, etc.
1:17 I wish we could see more of the dreadnoughts featured in this scene. I love me some giant steam train/tanks/ships.

"We knew the cost of our journey......
and we've paid the price ...
.... a hundred times."
This trailer....my heart...
I agree. I don’t know exactly why it’s THIS PHRASE that sends chills down my spine each time I hear it, but it just oozes meaning and purpose.
For all they know, they are all that's left of humanity... And the continuity of their very species is at stake
That music reminds me "28 weeks later"
me 2
... and the game reminds me to the colony
Metro 2033
@@ПешкаКремля Yeah I thought I recognized the music from somewhere, they used the same music in the trailer for Metro 2033
oh thank god that music was bugging me, like where did i hear it from lol. thanks for that.
Thanks a lot! It's great to know that you enjoyed the game on so many levels! Thank you for your comment!
-Bought the game a week ago
-So far enjoy it
-Realize its the best game i have ever seen
-Bought some dlc
-Enjoy even more
I am waiting for Frostpunk 2, even if because of inflation i will not be able to buy it.
Good luck guys.
Same because of inflation the game may cost 3X more so I am going to wait for a sale
Perfect to play this fall and winter. Especially in Europe, where it isn't yet certain whether you will have any heating or not.
or if there is power to play this
Spent the whole week playing this game over and over to get endings and achievements. Rarely got to enjoy a game so much, thank you for the most awesome experience, you rock!
Thank you so much!
They really did a great job of making the game feel _painful_ . You really feel the struggle against the elements and the weight of all these horrid decisions you have to make to try and keep everyone alive.
Winter has Come!
It has. Now - the City must survive!
So have I. 😫
Your are not to late for frostpunk 2
Frostpunk 2 is out.
There is never to late to play frostpunk. This game atmosphere is Just incredible. The music, the moral decisions, the frost. It is a game that stays with you for years. I really hope you enjoyied your first time with this gem of a game
Such a good game. Great trailer :)
Thanks a lot!
one qvestion torture me. why did they run away from... cold to north? run away from resourses?
I believe it would be even colder, think about it, screaming hot desert while day and ice cold overnight. Going north (or south) reduces this to an even point. Atleast thats my theory
@@Gearrrpool it's part of the story. Dont know if you've played it but there is a very specific reason why they go north.
Masterpiece
absolute masterpiece.
epic sound track.
i hope Frostpunk 2 is going to be the same tough journey filled with tears, stress and joy

Also this is a pretty realistic representation of Italy after half centimeter(1/5 inch) snow falls for one day
or southern Germany.
Or Texas
Downloading the game right now and by watching the trailer I got goosebumps. Such an amazing game you guys have put together. Looking forward to keeping the generator burning!
88% installed. Hype is real.
Great! :)
My Blessed City of New London 625 souls. -30c. And the game is really incredible and challenging
Glad you like it!
I think you can do that in the fall of winterhome
@@ihazplawe Not really. You never even see the Land Dreadnought in that mission.
Honesty a RTS set on a land dreadnaught similar to deserts of kharak could work wonders, dealing with the cold and a enemy
Damn, the story of founding the Tesla City would be perfect for this!
@@electrohalo8798 I love DoK (but then I've also been a Homeworld fan since 1999) and I think that idea has something there. I could see something like that for Frostpunk.
First thought: "Valiant Hearts narrator".
That's him! One and only Dave Pettitt!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS
Meanwhile in Canada: "Sure is a cold one eh?" "Ya bud, had to put my sweater on!"
Canada..? Pffft... Come to Siberia first.
Canada? You naive little boy, you are not a Man until you what does -150 degree feels like.
Ouch! Ew! Oh absolutely, the people in siberia would be out in t-shirts!
John Edmunds yeah real men swim in liquid nitrogen
All this talk of cold... and here I stay in Texas where it’s tropical. All. Ducking. Year. Long.
Hear me Hear me! A new law has passed! ALL CITZENS MUST BUY FROSTPUNK!
Thjank you SO much! Music was created by one and only Piotr Musiał - be sure to check out his other projects as well! He's a great, talented guy!

I hope Frostpunk gets a movie in the future, that way other people who don't play games can know of this masterpiece.
The dreadnoughts in the trailer are so freaking cool. Please somehow add these in-game in the future... Maybe a scenario where you have to build one and move to another city? I'd wet myself (then freeze myself).
Wait you make a dreadnought in that scenario?
I thought it was a "How Long Can You Survive?" Scenario.
This is still the best intro movie into a game that has been made ever. The narration, the music, the writing it's just perfect
You created something rare in our days. The game that is uniqe, smart, challenge and fun. Also, I never skipped intro. Could not do such thing to myself. I cannot wait for FP2, my hope is on maximum.
They created a awesome game..... hope rises and discontent falls.
Two years later this still gives me goosebumps every time.
Outstanding game, and worthy of the praise it has been receiving. 11 bit studios have earned themselves some serious respect from me, not just from Frostpunk, but the Anomaly series and This war of mine as well. Great to see there are still some Devs out there making fantastic games that are worthy of supporting.
Thank you so much - these kind of words mean a world to us!
0:59 what a welcoming home for londoners
The trailer moves me more than I thought it could. It gets really hard to find good Singleplayer games these days so I'm grateful to have experienced this game.
Coal: Im more precious than gold now, apparently.
Finally, after five days of playing it, I beat Frostpunk. This is probably the most hardest and funnest games I’ve ever encountered. Great job developers. ❤
Just finished the 2nd trailer, and all I want to say is good job, 11bit❤
I got no words to explain how good frostpunk is, this game needs a series🥶
