  • Struggling to choose between iPhone and Android in 2024? You're not alone! This video breaks down some of the great features that I use daily, as well as the functionalities of Android and why I still prefer it compared to iOS. iOS has definitely improved over the years, especially with iOS 17 - but it is still very limited, even with the improvements Apple implemented.
PLUS: I address recent changes due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations, including potential sideloading on iPhones in Europe.

One thing that irritates me about iOS is the fact that we can’t organize our apps in the home screen in any order we want! Like Apple needs to change this it’s been too long dealing with this bull-ST!

    • @djross95

Apple has no desire or will to change this. It's been that way forever, and like the lack of a systemwide back button, they just ignore the criticism. It's why I would never own an iPhone.

They won't do it because then they'll look a lot like Android. Let's face it; in iOS you are the tenant of the house in Android the owner, in One UI you can even break and remake the walls.

I had the same problem for the first few days of using an iPhone but then got used to it and it's actually more of a relief not seeing all those notification icons and the OS looks so clean. When its locked the iPhone knows when you pick it up to check it and it turns the screen on by itself and shows the notifications automatically. But it's understandable how some people would not like this.

How have you tried to personalise your iPhone? Focus modes? Scrobale widgets? Launcher apps, Dynamic Island customisations, works flow customisation? … That doesn’t make sense to say you can’t personalise an iPhone. I’m using both android and iOS.

    • @theeALister
      @theeALister 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The reason is because 90% of people only use that feature for picture-in-picture, which iOS supports.
Furthermore, you can definitely personalize your iPhone as customization has evolved a lot in iOS over the past 4-5 years. Most people just either don’t know how to do it or simply don’t care. There are a ton of features buried in iOS that people don’t even use.

What people want from a phone can change over time. After all when you started this channel you said you didn't see the point in camera comparisons, now that you have to use the cameras every day your phone reviews all feature lengthy camera comparisons.
I'm on Android primarily because of the ease of emulation. Customisation used to be important but one day I realised I've used the same Nova Launcher layout for years because it is comfortable and familiar. It's that which iPhones provide, comfort and familiarity can't be under-estimated.

I am a long time user of both Android and iOS and both have their pros and cons. But, my 80 yr old mom, who has always had Android phones up until about 2 years ago, DEFINITELY has an easier time on iOS. I think there are less settings that she can "accidentally" get into and change something she doesn't mean to. Also, if she gets a new phone, with iOS, it's going to be exactly what she's used to. Lastly, at her age, for whatever reason, fingerprint readers can NOT register her print. But, with FaceID, everything runs so smoothly for her. So, I DO think that iOS is the simpler, more error proof of the two operating systems.

Hey, nice video, thanks for keeping me busy while eating!
Reason why I personally use Apple devices: I've been an Android fanboy all my life, but every single flagship android that I had always leaves me down after a year or two of using (camera starts lagging, gallery won't load, whole operating system starts lagging)
Since switching to iPhone, every single iPhone that I sold I sold it solely cause I wanted a new one, not because the old one was bad or was starting to let me down
That's the only reason why I use iPhone, and will gladly go back to android when it becomes fully stable (yes, I've tried android recently as well, flagship as S23 Ultra, still the same thing)

Interesting i was thinking about switching to android but since you have experienced both is it really that bad on the android side? So the lack of features on apple doesn’t make you to want to go back? I have always used an iPhone so i am intrigued by your experiance

Common bro, you are probably talking about your experience from 5 to 6 years ago, I've used all the samsung notes ever made and I can tell you from note 10plus up to the s22ultra which I still have and the s23ultra I'm typing this on and I've had since launched, those situations u described don't happen. U can ask most s23ultra users, and they'll tell you the same. What I really think is u compare animations on IOS to that of android and feel its laggy while it's not. Both platforms have different ways of implementing and doing things. I would try iPhone too if they ever try to allow more flexibility and at least let the big screen on those pro max be useful for real multi-tasking.

I've been a full time Android user since 2011. And I bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max in January. I've barely had it for two months.
And I absolutely hate 99% things about the iOS system. I'm not even exaggerating.
I've had discussions with some family members and friends who swear by the Apple products. And why the heck they love iPhones so much, is beyond me. My conclusion is simply that they're bias and follow the trend.
I'm going to sell my iPhone and go back to my trusty 4 year old OnePlus 8 Pro, which btw eats the iPhone 15 Pro Max for breakfast. And I'm willing to challenge that 🤷🏽
The only two things that iPhone does good is recording video, and it holds battery good. It's a new phone so obviously the battery will be good. But at the same time, it also takes nearly 2 hours to charge it. Some Android phones are capable of charging from 0-100 in 18-20 minutes. How ridiculous is that.
Anyways I've finally tried an iPhone and I'm glad that this experience confirmed what I already knew 🚮

Notification, not being able to pause video, not being able to set custom ringtone, not being able to use freely with other devices you might have all these are real deal breaker for me. iOS has only one positive thing that's developer support. Developers can milk more money out of Apple users so they tend to give more features to iOS apps or release apps for Apple first. Other than this it's pure cons and cons and cons

  • @sreekumar9593
    @sreekumar9593 หลายเดือนก่อน

Well said bro. Rightly said. I'm using iphone for last 10 months after coming from android.
    What I like in iphone
    1. Speed with its processing each activities. Call, msg, app opening speed, the animations. All top notch
    2. build quality is excellent. Durable and premium
    3. Apple Music. I’ve almost tried all music apps. It’s the best in terms of audio quality and looseless music.
    4. camera. It doesn’t have any gimmicks. It’s natural and Colour accuracy is the best ever. video quality is the best available.
But I think these positives are not just enough for me for a long run in IPhone. I might think to go back to android. May be OnePlus or Samsung S series or pixel devices.
I've decided to go back to android back due to following issues
    1. Back button in top left corner. Back Gesture not working in all screen. It's annoying
    2. Lack of other way number pad in keyboard. Iphone only having the usual number row. That's also difficult to adjust.
    3. Icons cannot be placed in your home screen as you wish. For example if you want a particular icon in bottom left of your screen it cannot be done. It can only placed next to the last icon which is in order from top right of the screen. Though you can shuffle the order, lack of placement whereever you want is annoying.
    4. Call rejection option not available in main call receiving screen. It can be done only in popup screen.
    5. Wallpaper/ui customizations are very very limited. Very monotonous appearance.
    6. I miss the smooth 120 htz refresh rate coming from android
I may shift to android soon.

Your points are mostly valid. But as far as widgets, app drawer, that’s just the way Apple is. I kind of like not being able to do certain things because it gives me structure. There is also a way to lock icons with the shortcuts app, using a custom automation that allows the app to lock itself to the Lock Screen as soon as it’s opened. The reason why Apple doesn’t have any other compétions is because they’re it’s own software and hardware. Google tried to replicate this with the pixels. But I agree, android gives you the option to many things and the ultimate freedom. Apple doesn’t give you that freedom, which sucks in many ways. However their users, I , an iPhone user has just gotten used to it. And I can’t see myself switching to android because of wanting more freedom. I really hope iOS 18 brings better things for iPhone because us users really want to see things change.

I have always used both platforms due to my job in the cellular industry to be quite honest. It wasn’t really until the last three or four versions of ios that it got really good lots of features that we used to have to jailbreak for or now baked right into the os, And all those years of people saying was better than android they honestly didn’t have that strong of an argument when it came to functionality and the things that you could do vs a android. Purchased an S2 four ultra and I have a 13 Pro Max as my primary phone. you wouldn’t think that there was multiple things that the 13 pro max does better than my s24u fbut there are many of them.

The fact that not just photographers are buying phones, proof that, not everyone need more customization... a teacher, a secretary etc actually buying an iPhone because they don't want to learn things what they doesn't need just to use the phone.. they just want a good pictures when they push the shoot button without any extra confusing setrings.. (and just check the global top10 sales for smartphones in the past 3 years.. there are 7-8 iPhone on the list and a few budget 60Hz LCD Android.. so even if you think the 120Hz is important, the more customization is also important, you can't proove it with an impressive Android flagship sales.. because there are zero Android flagship on the sales list.. for 80% of the users don't need tech crap things, they can't even install their driver for their PC.. why would they want a phone with 100 optional settings, if 95 of that 100 is unknown for them...

Let’s learn to appreciate the differences and enjoy the tech we know and love.

Bro I cannot stress how true this is. So they say that iOS is "the most user-friendly OS" out there but recently my aunt when on a vacation and I got to use her iphone for a while..... And it wasn't "user-friendly" to say the least. Like on android with swipe gestures you just swipe left or right of the screen to go back but you can't do that in iphone. The gallery is also very confusing because it does not automatically create a folder to organize your pictures like screenshots, downloads, shared via bluetooth, etc. It just stockpiles all of them together. Those are to name a few 😅

Great video! You put it together very nice. These are all very valid points. I have always switched back and forth and wasted so much money until I really thought about how locked down Apple is. I bust my butt and pay so much for a phone that does not feel mine. I got the s24 ultra and yes it's expensive but it's mine!! I can do whatever I want on it and Samsung and Android gives me that freedom. Apple can keep the iMessage, air drop and FaceTime. $700 to $1200 for that!! Really!! 🤦 When Android gives me soooo much more and it's well worth every dollar.
