I lost my father at 15 and recently lost my mom this year. I'm an orphan now and my sister have abdonded me. Your music helps give me strength to carry on alone.
Losing both your birth parents by 15 sounds like some heavy shit, glad you made the most of your life instead of going into a downward spiral like most may have. Long live Whitechapel
I found this video after watching "Hickory Creek". I had a bunch of stuff typed out but I guess what I really want to say is thank you for being real with your fans. It shows in your music and makes it so much better. Long live Whitechapel!
I probably can't even think of how it is like to lose one or both your parents, but you really are living proof that even such difficult times can be overcomed
Man I found my mom dead in 2000 due to a drug overdose I was 7 and still can see it everyday in my head and my dad left me when I was 2 I can totally relate to you but regardless still have to wear our smiles your so inspiring dude keep doing what your doing bro
Damn Phil much respect man keep doing what you're doing your parents would be proud of you. Can't wait to see you guys next month in Oregon you guys are gonna kick ass!.
I really believe in rock music! And I know that these folks are going to make it big! *watch?v=el3cHidIiAU* It is freaking outstanding! Look at the youtube URL, you certainly will enjoy it!!
It takes a lot of strength to talk about something like this man. My dad passed away 5 months ago and I can't bring it up without bawling my eyes out :'(
After listening to this, you are truly an inspiration to each and everyone of your fans man, I've always been a huge fan but this really put so much more respect towards you from me. Sorry for your loss Phil.
My stepdad died from complications during a colonoscopy. The man would introduce me as his own son. I remember I was 19. I walked in to say goodbye. I took off running and drove for a few hours. I beat myself up everyday years later over it. Props to you for overcoming it.
My condolences man. I was about 6 years older than you when I lost my dad, but I'm sure age really doesn't make the grieving process any easier when it comes to losing your world. The strengths acquired from our pain will always be a part of who we are today, and absolutely aid in dealing with the inevitable losses that lie ahead. You, and I are a lot alike in many ways. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos. I didn't discover Whitechapel until early '13... I wish I could say I've been a fan from the '06 beginnings, at the same time I wouldn't change a thing. Whitechapel has been my most recent favorite band since Chimaira. Fortunately, I have been able to see you guys Live times 3 in only 3 years. That's more frequent than any other band in my life. I want you to know that all of your sacrifices, and efforts made touring, recording and keeping us fans informed ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!! Words just can't express the gratitude, and respect I hold near to my heart for you, and Whitechapel as a whole. Nice work on Mark of the Blade BTW... it's my favorite album by far! Props! If things go well enough for me, I am planning on making a road trip from East Texas to Farmington, NM in October (I believe) to see you guys, and finances/availability allowing... my closest cousin and I will both be able to purchase the Meet & Greet package. If this plan comes to fruition it will be one of the greatest days of my life. No bullshit. I am truly looking forward to looking you in the eye and expressing my gratitude. Keep up the great work! I wish nothing less than happiness, healthiness, and good fortune for you, and all of your loved ones. Hope to see you soon. PEACE! Sincerely, Al Jones Gun Barrel City, Texas
I lost my father when I was 10 years old. He got ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in 2002 and died of it in 2006. It really sucked losing my father at such a young age, because I couldn't get to know him as much as I wanted to. He was one of the nicest, easiest to get along with, and outgoing people in my life. Like you, Phil, I've learned to move on from it, start a career in music (a drummer for 6 yrs now), and stay positive. I'm 16 years old and I'm really looking forward to the future.
All I wanna say is that I know all of your fans really appreciate how real you're being. To know and see (well...hear) something like this really adds so much credit to you and what you do. You just keep doin you, and those who want to will support you. Thanks again
Losing a parent, at a young age, is horrible man, been there... losing both so early like that is worse.. Mad respect for having the guts to share this man
Your father sounds like a great man Phil, enduring all that with his wife and raising a great family. I have so much respect for him and the man he raised to be you. Peace man!
wow, you're admirable, you tell us about all the horrible shit you've been through and still manage to say "life isn't that bad" you're a strong person, very
I've got so much respect for Phil. It's extremely rare that you get a musician such as him to open up so much to everyone, something I've barely seen from any other kind of musician. Which is completely understandable because it's their personal life, not ours. But being the beastly man Phil is, and took the time to tell us this, is so awesome, whether be by request or because he wanted to for himself. From just staring at you on stage, I never would've thought you were so alive and full of fun.
man i had no idea you had gone through this, you were already an inspiration to me but i've gained even more respect for you now. no kid should have to deal with that at such a young age yet you still turned out to be pretty great
You're a real inspiration Phil. Going through everything I'm going through and listening to what happen to you when you were younger and seeing how you got past it, it really gives me hope. Exactly what I needed right now. Thanks for just being you phil. Take care :)
Phil, your band got me through all of High School and all of it's bullshit. I want to thank you for everything you gave me and you continue giving to everyone who follows you and your band. Keep on rocking man, and know your mom, and especially your dad, would be incredibly proud of what you've done with your life. Rock on :)
It seems that the most successful and happy people always have the most hellish pasts. Perhaps it's the fact that these horrible experiences allow us to not only grow and prosper, but appreciate life and those around us far more.
Fantastic attitude...I have two sons 22 and 24 years of age and I feel for you on that father/son level. You are really a great tribute to your father and your last album sold me on Whitechapel...I played it back to back for four weeks in my car...this is your impact on those you may never see or meet but we all respect the resilience you have shown. Saw you once with my youngest son supporting Trivium in Leeds...awesome! Decent Black Ops player too...I'm 47 and still do "young man" stuff...
You are an inspiration Phil, seriously to know how you dealt with your problems really gives light on things which actually when you really think about it, they don't matter. Keep up the videos and the music fuckin love them both
hey man. I have had a rough childhood and it helps me a lot to know one of my influences has been through shit too. my mom is currently being dragged down a bad path cuz of my step dad. abuse, drug addiction. I feel for you man. life aint easy but those of us who don't give up come out stronger than the rest of the world. much respect for you. I will always support whitechapel!
Phil, I think it's so cool that you're doing this youtube thing now. Whitechapel has been my favorite band for years and It's cool to see you do something like this.
Dude, mad props to you Phil for coming out with this and being honest for your fans so they can see the true you man. I think that's fucking awesome , your vocals are sick, your band is sick, and your channel on youtube is sick . I think your starting a whole new brand of cool for your fans and I am very stoked to see that this channel isn't just a shameless plug for your band and its just a way to shot the shit with your fans on video games and shit , it's super cool man.
Phil, thank you for saying this,i feel really really bad man. What you said moved me so much, now i`m calling my father because he is in Germany,i miss him,and i love him.Thank you again for everything you said.
wow, I've never met you in person or seen any of your videos before tonight and im totally floored at just how genuine and awesome of a dude you are. it takes a lot of courage and backbone to talk about some of the stuff you covered in this video. thanks for being so open and keep up the great work with whitechapel man
I can only imagine what this must have felt like. I never knew my father, he chose not to be part of my life, as well as my mother. You really inspired me to stay strong with this story, brother. Thank you
"aside from music" means getting to know him on a more personal basis as well . It has nothing to do with liking the music or not. I actually dig most of their stuff!
Holy shit dude. I'm so sorry for your loss and sharing that part of your life with us I think is pretty cool. I'm glad that you've been successful with whitechapel and that you've been strong enough to carry on after something like that. Keep on going man and well be here for your support.
Phil, you share names with me, you're an awesome vocalist, and an overall cool dude. Don't get me wrong, losing your parents must have been brutal, but it's had an effect on who you are today and THAT is freaking SICK! Love the tunes, and the commentaries. KEEP IT UP!
That is really rough man, I am lucky enough to still have both my parents. I am sure they would be proud of you if they saw you now. Keep being so cool
Hey Phil I just wanted to say Im sorry for your loss my dad passed away of heart failure when i was 11 and my step father was murdered when i was 16. Thanks for the great commentary
Sorry to hear that :( I do believe your parents and especially your dad would be very proud of the success you have achieved today. Not gonna get sappy but some people could go through that same situation and go completely the other direction with life and give up on themselves. Thanks for sharing
Hey Phil, I dunno if you're still active here on this platform but I wanted to say thank you for sharing your story. I love your band's music and your lyrics. Even though I have yet to lose anyone close to me yet, I dread the day when it happens, I realize that I just can't go around thinking when and how it's gonna happen. Gotta accept that you live in the present, and not to take any moment for granted. Thank you again. Really.
It's really something to hear my idol vocalist just talking about life. It was..really cool and enlightening. Thanks, man. Seriously. Stay metal, people! \m/
Sorry for your loss, I'm 15 right now and alone, my father left after I was born, one day he finally comes back into my life for a month only to tell me to stay out of his In the end, my mother also left me for an abusive drunk, the only two people to try to take care of me was my grandparents, one of which fell and ended up getting a blood clot in his brain and died, then a week later I found my grandmother unconscious on the floor after she had tried to overdose, so I guess I can relate.
You're a strong man, Phil. Thank you for sharing your life with us, it was an honor seeing you in Mayhem 2012 in Tampa!! I hope i get to see you again! -Big Fan
Big inspiration Bozeman, love you and your band! I'm just sorry it couldn't have been an easier start for you in life :/ fuck though man your folks would be so proud, you can count on that.
Phil my name is dennis and my dad had an aggresive form of cancer and i found out the day this is exile was released and i want u to know tht my dad was my superman and the hardest thing ive ever had to witness was my superman layin hooked up to machines and after i rushed out of the hospital i went str8 to my car fired my bowl up and comsumed myself in ur music and it helped me get thru almost losin my dad ur my hero and my hugest inspiration for music and life stay strong cuz ppl like me need
I lost my pop when I was seven. He had some sort of stroke or aneurism and I wasn't even there to say good bye. He was the best damn dad I could have wanted.
You're an inspiration man as a person and a vocalist can't wait to see you guys on May 11th at The Rave maybe meet you guys someday as well would be awesome.
I don't wanna say I feel your pain, but I can at least relate. I lost my mother about a year ago. Heart complications after a surgery. I was really close to her and so was my sister and it really affected me. Like, I was really close to my mother.
Holy shit man I had absolutely no idea about of any of this, I am truly sorry for your losses, losing them must've been harder than hell and you've done more than bounce back from it. I don't know what I would do if I lost my mum You were already an idol of mine because of what you do but now I've gotta say you're a fucking hero, so much respect for you man. Stay metal! \../
That weird grunting breathing is called agonal breathing. It’s what happens when the persons body is shutting down and is moments from death. It usually occurs from cardiac arrest. When the brain doesn’t get enough oxygen, its your bodies natural reflex. I’ve heard it several times with family members and was curious when I first heard it as well like 20 years ago
So sad to hear that, because one of my friends took suicide last week. But losing your parents? Damn dude thats hard, loads of respect for you man. It's not an easy topic to talk about and i know how hard it is loose someone close, can't believe you are happy, but i'm glad that you are! It's never fun to loose someone close, but it's just to move on and enjoy life!
Interesting story, sorry to hear that, it's devastating losing your mom/dad at a small age :/.Anyways keep it up man, your dad is everywhere with you, at every performance you do, keep it up man!
Phil, you've helped me realize I'm not alone out here :) I always throw on the Self-titled and feel 110% better when the shit is hitting the fan. Thanks for being such an awesome guy!
You're my biggest inspiration... One of my biggest dreams is to meet you because you've brought wonderful music into society. It would complete my life meeting you.
I have been listening to your band since This Is Exile album came out. And I have to say, you guys are absolutely amazing. I also think it's really bad ass that you play PS3 also :D I definitely look forward to more of your videos!:D
Phil your the man I'm Sorry about hurtful things I have said about your bands new albums...I've seen you guys live 3 times in Pittsburgh and actually met you all back in 09 at mayhem I was obsessed with you guys
@phillybo1985 you may not believe it,but my dad was shot down when I was only 3 years old by my uncle in the woods of Alabama. And when I found that out I pretty much just drowned myself in music. And the lyrics to your song "murder sermon" really caught my attention with the situation that was at hand at the time. And that of course is why "murder sermon" is my favorite song ever made. Thanks so much. And by the way, my name is also phil, and so was my dad.
I know how you feel man my step dad was addicted to crack, tore my family life apart he just recently got off that shit after 20 yearsi never really spent any time with my real dad but my mom has always been there for me and I love her for that
Hey man I can relate a lot to what your saying which makes me appreciate your new album even more. My busy is in a touring band and I get that touring sucks so If ya wanna grab a beer or something if ya in Austin, TX or just play video games and break the grind let me know!!!
hey man I'm sorry for your loss and thank you for the music you play and write you guys inspired me to try to get my own band going to thanks a lot Phil
@MrLazarusrambo It's on the new self titled. Right after that it goes "if you dare step on this pedistool and promise us change, we'll change the features on your face." not sure about the song name tho. Can't think of it right now.
Sorry for your loses Phil I never knew this but what you said about the new man your mom met after your father died was he the one you wrote Murder Surmon after?
Hugs 🫂 saw you guys last night in Richmond VA, 4/19/23' I love you guys music 🎶 I had a pretty messed up life to bro life is hard it can be very beautiful to at times just got to keep going ❤
I love whitechapel because I feel close to the lyrics... It hits close to home for me. I know what you are going through phil, relatively speaking, my parents just didnt want me. So i was on my own since 14... anyway, xbox or ps3?
I lost my father at 15 and recently lost my mom this year. I'm an orphan now and my sister have abdonded me. Your music helps give me strength to carry on alone.
Losing both your birth parents by 15 sounds like some heavy shit, glad you made the most of your life instead of going into a downward spiral like most may have.
Long live Whitechapel
I found this video after watching "Hickory Creek". I had a bunch of stuff typed out but I guess what I really want to say is thank you for being real with your fans. It shows in your music and makes it so much better. Long live Whitechapel!
So I found my new favorite quote. "Life is bad if you make it bad" -Phil Bozeman
Great song "Bring Me Home" Thank You
We need to watch this and listen to the valley..... I cant wait for this album. So much emotion
He just went live on Instagram explaining some the songs. Very cool video, very heavy emotionally.

I can only imagine what this must have felt like. I never knew my father, he chose not to be part of my life, as well as my mother. You really inspired me to stay strong with this story, brother. Thank you
agreed, his insight on the whole lifestlye he gets to lead would be stellar
I'm so sorry Phil. I lost my Dad so I can relate you on some level. It isn't easy, but I'm getting through it

It's good to see that even with all the shit you've been through you were able to get over it and become one of the sickest vocalists I've ever heard.
Sorry about your loss Phil, its never easy losing someone you love. Keep your head up, you're so strong & stay metal! \m/ (:
Holy shit man I had absolutely no idea about of any of this, I am truly sorry for your losses, losing them must've been harder than hell and you've done more than bounce back from it. I don't know what I would do if I lost my mum

You've got a story, man, and it's fucking motivating to see how you've overcome it.
"Life's only bad if you make it bad" Man did I need to hear that
You're a very amazing person phil. I have never met you in real life but I know that if I ever did, I wouldn't regret it.
I'm normally not affected by this, but damn dude. When you finished the part about your dad, my heart sunk...
