  • People keep on telling me I should get a refractor to take "proper" pictures of the night sky.
    Well, I beg to differ. I'll eventually get a refractor, but I'm sticking with my Celestron 9.29" SCT for now, with it's 2.5m focal length.
    Sure, many nebulas can't be fitted in my FoV, but I love zooming in on details.
    So, during the full moon, I popped in my Optolong L-eXtreme filter and did some planetary nebula hunting.
    I was pretty amazed when I saw the details my telescope was capable of imaging.
    I wanted to put it all in perspective, so I made this video using Stellaris and my own images to perform a zoom to give an idea of the scales involved.
