Makes me especially proud of my service in the Navy in the 1960s. i was an HM3 during the Vietnam war, and served at the NSA Hospital at DaNang. Some of the Marine Corps personnel in the audience may have passed through here. Anyway, I so appreciate this honor to the armed forces, especially when played by the U.S. Navy Band. I really miss my Dad who were in the Japanese young boy soldiers' military school and who loved all the military marches & songs, incl .US.Armys. Whenever I had him listen to these sort of music, he revived and was really inspired. I was so happy to see such Dad. He passed away a few years ago.

My father, CPL Robert S. Hudson, Jr., served in both the Army and the Air Force. My stepfather, PM2 Daniel E. Mauntler, was a sailor assigned to a USMC division. Both were members of the Greatest Generation. I salute them, and all veterans, for their service. I was physically disqualified.
as a european, you can say what you want about the US and its military actions. but no one can deny that the service branches has fantastic anthems they are so good at evoking the right feelings, you can really hear the famous American optimism in these and the way they are different, but go so well together. it distinguishes them, but also keep to feeling of bing part of the same so good love and appreciation from europe.

Most people aren't aware that the Coast Guard was an active participant in every conflict since WW1. In WW2 we operated the Landing craft on D-Day, and in the Pacific theatre. Off the coast of Inchon in Korea, Coastal and inland waters of Vietnam, securing ports and vessels in the middle east, intercepting mini submarines trying to snuggle drugs from central & south America... besides the stuff we are known for. Petty Officer 1st Cl Douglas Munro posthumously received the Congressional Medal of Honor for saving the lives of hundreds of Marines in the pacific in WW2. Our people have come home in flag drapped coffins too... Semper Paratus !
As a retired member of the band you have just experienced, I might mention that the U.S. Coast Guard also has a 'world class band'. This is the only major service premier band that is outside of The District of Columbia, and they call New London, CT home.
This made me so happy my grandpa served as a policeman, and marine, and my other grandpa was drafted into the vietnam war and he worked in the barracks and heard bombs going off everyday and he doesnt recognize himself when people at foodlion ask if he was a veteran he says no... This also almost made me cry but they are both living.!!

I just know this much, I always find myself in tears whenever I hear our National Anthem and then when I hear my anthem of my own branch, ANCHORS AWEIGH! Am I the only one who gets emotional when they hear their song and stand with real American pride?!
Semper Paratus was rewritten a few times to reflect "the times" . It was modified for the Second World War to reflect what we did... sub chasing & busting, troop convoys, putting troops on the beach at Normandy, as well as being the first ashore in the Pacific to make sure it was reasonably safe for the Marines ... He always worked as a tender/mechanic as a kid here in Philadelphia at all the yacht clubs on the Delaware. Most dont realize how much combat the USCG sees in times of conflict.
I'm glad they changed the lyrics to ".. as the Army goes rolling along .." Even though I finally found out what caissons are, it just makes more sense to use Army.
Proud to have backed ALL of them up as civilian Contracting Officer and Analyst with the Defense Logistics Agency. DLA kept everyone supplied, clothed, and fed.

Having proudly served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard, I still get a tightness in my throat and a tear in my eye hearing these songs and for having had the opportunity to serve this great nation and it’s citizens.
This is really and truly great tribute to all American forces on waters, skies and land and all the citizens for their contributions and help in one way or another to help make America what it is today. Great job you all
I had to smile when the officer ask those who were in or had been in the military to please stand when their theme song is played. I smiled because I'm thinking there's not going to be one person left sitting down. I look forward to the day when our brothers and sisters from the United States Space Force choose their theme song and and take their place amongst us. The air, the land, the sea, and now space. We; your United States military has it all covered.
