Thank you so much! When I saw Stardew Valley come out on Xbox Game Pass, I figured we might get an influx of new players. Hopefully it helps some people out!
This is INCREDIBLY thorough. It's disconcerting hearing all the 1.4 and 1.5 stuff as "just how the game is", even though it's true. I kept going "what do you mean you can do that on your first playthrough, that's for later!" But no, it just wasn't available on MY first playthrough.
This is the video I wish existed when I first bought this game earlier this year. It really does cover everything including some basics that are often overlooked in guide videos that are out there. A lot of commonly known things that players know about aren't things a new player will know unless told or finding out the hard way. Even though I've been playing for a few months there was stuff in this video I didn't know about so I appreciate how in depth this is. The first time I played the game I got super upset and quite after 30 mins because fish was frustrating and I didn't pick up the game again for a while until I watched a video that mentioned the training rod. It made a big difference and now i love fishing and make most of my early game money from fish. I also get a lot of gems, artifacts, ores, etc from the treasure chest. I recently got two dinosaur eggs from fishing a couple days apart. Don't give your first dinosaur egg to the museum keep it and hatch it with the deluxe barn and you'll get more eggs. They're rare! A tip for new players if im at the mines and know I'm not gonna make it hom in time I keep a chest in the mines and I empty my entire bag including weapon into it and make a mad dash outside the mines. When I faint I don't lose anything if im pick pocketed except a small fee for health care. Then I just go pick it up in the morning. Don't be afraid to eat food you find because they're not rate and collecting salmon berries gives me energy well into summer. 🌻💛😄
I've been suprised how many little things get overlooked, but then it makes sense because I know I overlooked so many things for a long time until someone would tell me something better. For the longest time I would click for every action, because I never thought to hold down the action button. It's embarrassing how long I did that. Oh and an FYI, you won't lose items from passing out even though the message may say someone was rummaging in your pockets. You only lose items from getting knocked out from your health meter, not passing out from energy or it being too late. 🥰
@@Wickedy oh thank you! I didn't know that 😄🎊 I was so worried about losing cool things I find in the mines and in fishing. Edited a typo in my original comment

Thanks for this lovely comment! Which farm did you choose as a newbie?
@HandeCoban I personally love the four corners farm because it's organized and I get ores in one area and can use different areas for animals, crops, etc. It's also easy to cross through the farm to the other side of the map. 😄
I bought the game today and instantly fell in love with it. It reminds me of the my sims games, animal crossing new leaf, a lil bit of Pokémon (for whatever reason) and generally makes me feel warm. Usually story driven is my go to do a game like this where I can chill and not have to wait for my heart to be broken is sick. Plus your video totally helped me out dude. Hella nice work
It reminded me of sims and animal crossing too!! Main reason why I bought it. Still confused on how to play buuut hopefully by the time I finish this video I’ll knownwhats going on
Thanks for the summary. Hundreds of hours of playtime, and still nice to refresh our basics every once in a while... One of these days maybe I'll be starting a new farm, since the old ones are too far ahead to remember what else need to be done... Great video as always :)
This is all I wish it existed when I started the game. I took me too long to realise that you can use the elevator and not start all over again every time you go to the mines 😅 Thank you, Wickedy!
Just picked up the game because I wanted a new cozy game and it was on sale on the Nintendo shop. I thought I accidentally skipped the tutorial because I didn't know how to do anything. The game really just throws you in lol. This was so helpful!!!
I tried getting into Stardew last year and found it wayyy too confusing and overwhelming - I was constantly running out of storage space, energy, money and time and had no idea what to prioritise! After watching one of my friends stream it a few days ago, I really wanted to try the game again and this video has given me some confidence/direction to get through the first part, and a lot of excitement ^_^ (Also I love that you called your horse Epona)
Like me. I had forgotten that the map showed opening hours and did not know that the content was not destroyed if a npc destroys a chest as it never happened to me.
I first played this game a few days ago and I chose the beach farm. And oh golly I was sooo confused as hell. I got the seeds but didn’t know where to plant them. Thanks for this video!
As someone who has been wanting to get this game and has been completely confused and I’m already on day 5 this video was sooooo needed!!! Thnk you so much!!!

My boyfriend got me the game for Christmas and I'm really excited to play it with him. And now I'm far less intimidated (but still a little...or a lot ;p) Thank you so much for making this. OMG I didn’t know about the pickaxe getting rid of hoed soil my farm is looking SO janky I’ve been watching beginner guides for a few days and this is by far the most helpful so thank you!!!
I played stardew when I got animal crossing burnout in 2020 but I couldn’t get into it- today I decided to try again came to TH-cam for a guide and found this video- it’s super helpful and I’m already really enjoying stardew!! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the very helpful guide! I've been wanting to learn more about the game. I tried it once years ago and felt stressed about how I was using my time in the game with the seasons going by so fast, and knowing which crops to plant when and missing stuff that you would have to wait another year for.
I am hoping to get Stardew on my birthday in two weeks so I'm trying to learn all I can, this video is amazing and easily understandable. Also, your voice is so calming!
Just started playing Stardew a couple days ago at my wife’s behest. After a couple hours watching beginner guides, this one’s the best I’ve seen, worth the sub.
Hello, awesome video!! Very informative, and helpful. I was feeling defeated and clueless until I watched this, now I can't stop playing! Thank you very much!
Wow! I'm a brand new TH-cam content creator and have been considering a second game to use for game play uploads. I wanted something relatively easy to play (low stress) and was thinking of SDV. I have nearly 900 hours in so far and thought it would be a good one. Finding your beginner guide has pretty much sealed the deal for me but also gave me some great tips for things I might have forgotten about (and in some cases didn't know). GREAT job Wickedy! I can see why you have a huge following!
this is such a great intro guide! not so overwhelming, very straight forward and helpful! I'm about to start soon and this helped me not to be so scared haha
i haven’t played stardew valley in over a year so i completely forgot how to play most of it and starting a new farm was super overwhelming, this video was super helpful!
A few tips not mentioned in the video: (I only play PC so I do not know if these work for other devices) 1: You don't need to have your cursor next to your character to interact with things. If you keep the cursor a sufficient distance from your character, not only will your mouse buttons still work, but your character will only interact with items/things in the direction they are facing. I find this is particularly useful in combat as it is easy to lose track of your cursor when trying to fight multiple mobs (I'm looking at you Royal Serpents). If your cursor is too close, your character will turn toward the direction of the cursor when you press the mouse button, which may leave you open to vulnerable to attack. I pretty much only use the cursor when menus are open as I can plant/fertilize/water/harvest/mine/fish and fight just by using WASD to manipulate which direction I want to face. 2: How far from any land your bobber lands will impact the quality of the fish you'll catch. Of course, the distance you can cast is dependent on your current fishing skill level but choosing the right fishing spot can help. Ideally, you will want to be casting no less than 5 water tiles from any "land", but sometimes, the terrain does not afford that much space. When looking for a spot to fish, try to find areas of water you can cast into that provides the most distance from any land, this includes the other side of the river or shoreline jutting farther into the water from where you are. 3: When casting your line for fishing, you can hold down A or S when facing north or south and W or D when facing east or west to slightly alter the trajectory of your line. This will allow you to direct your cast into nearby bubbles or reach a more open area of water which might increase the quality of fish you catch. 4: When it comes to upgrading your tools, as long as you get your tool to Clint before 4pm, the current day will still count as one of the two days he needs to upgrade said tool. Use this to your advantage by using the tool as much as possible before taking it to Clint's. This applies to picking up an upgraded tool as well. (Example= Clint has just finished upgrading your axe to copper, but you still need to upgrade it to steel before you can clear the logs on your farm and the one blocking the secret woods. When you pick up your copper axe, don't immediately give it back and begin the steel upgrade. Instead, take it back to your farm and chop up all the hardwood stumps there, as well as any trees you want to cut down and THEN bring it back to Clint for the steel upgrade.) 5: Make sure you buy/sell to Clint or Robin before you hire them for a job as they will not be available until the job is complete. Most jobs take 2 days to finish but can be extended one day if there is a festival during that time. It is important to note that Clint begins his jobs as soon as you hire him, making the current day count as Day 1, but Robin does not start work until the following morning so make sure to take that into account. 6: You cannot enter an area where a festival will take place until the official time posted for the festival (the game will notify you when the festival starts) and it will end at the officially posted time if you do not want to go or do not get there in time. Additionally, everyone's doors will be locked, and all businesses will be closed. Furthermore, make sure you really want to enter a festival area before you actually enter it, as leaving a festival area, even if you just arrived to take a peek, will end the festival. Leaving a festival will automatically set the time to 12:00am so make sure you got any work on the farm you want done before you attend. Lastly, make sure you know when and where upcoming festivals are going to be, plan any tool/building upgrading around it and make sure you have as much money as you can as most festivals have a shop of some kind that sells unique items that won't be available again until the next year's festival. 7: Wild Seeds are seasonal seeds (individually called Spring Seeds, Summer Seeds, Fall Seeds and Winter Seeds) which grow the various seasonal foragables you'll find scattered across the map. Combining one of each seasonable foragable item will create a packet of 10 seeds. It is important to note that wild seeds are treated differently than actual crop seeds. Firstly, fertilizers that affect quality have no effect on wild seeds since their quality is determined solely by your foraging skill. Secondly, crows do not eat wild seed crops, so you won't need any scarecrows. Lastly, these are a great way to gain foraging xp, especially if you've cut down all the trees in the world and are waiting for them to regrow. 8: At the start of every Sunday, the world will be populated by new foragables, up to six per load zone and will attempt to spawn more every night if there are less than six. However, once you go to bed on Saturday and every change in season, all foragables in the world, the only exception being the bat cave, will be deleted and a new cycle will begin.
Yay thanks! I'm embarrassed to admit that that I had forgotten a bunch of obvious things before I started making this, and was going through with "beginners eyes" and was all like, oh yeah! I wish I knew this when I started out. Happy it was at least entertaining.
My mom just recently got a switch because she’s really into the idea of cozy games. She had a hard time getting a good grasp of Stardew valley and I was not very good at explaining but your video helped so much!
This is a cool guide I wish I had seen it before I started playing. It took a lot of googling and restarting out of frustration before I really got into stardew. I usually do the Joja mart route just because I tend to get impatient and frustrated with the community center bundles and for me it’s easier to just pay to access new areas 😂 I did completely the community center once though as a challenge to do it in the first year so I don’t feel like a complete Joja sell out 🤣
Awesome guide, actually got me into the game. I picked it up a few months ago, got incredibly overwhelemed, and put it down. Finally decided to give it another shot, this time searching up a guide. This video was incredibly helpful, made me have to fight my urge to play while needing to complete finals lol
i just started playing today. i was trying to greet everyone and theres 3 ppl left i cant find 😭 also any tips on what we should prioritise first? i think i should start putting some crops to sell but what else do we need for quick money. i love the game even tho it looks confusing i cant wait to build my world and have a whole farming career in there haha
@jooi1567 For prioritization I'd say overall focus on the community center (CC) and through spring get your crops going. I really enjoy fishing mini games so I did a lot of that for quick money as well. (If you struggle with fishing use a training rod until you get a few levels up. The higher your level the easier it becomes) I also learned about the mines from this video, so I went really hard on that too bc it's another thing I enjoy. Mainly just focus on what you want to do before anything else. The only thing that takes precedence is the CC sinse it unlocks a lot of handy things. Here's a list of stuff I did during my first year though: • Work on CC • Upgrade backpack • Fish for extra cash • Decend the mines • Upgrade tools (most to gold by year 2) • First coop or barn • Raise character hearts (best done in winter when things are slow) Also, I started looking into mods and there's some really helpful ones. I.e. the "to-dew list" and there's one that implements its own wiki in-game (because you end up doing a lot of googling for this game).
Fabulous Last Chance to Plant infographic! Shared your link with various Stardew friends and chats! Wonderful video, well edited, always love listening to you. Your skillful scriptwriting and editing are a joy, and your livestreams are fab, too. Cozy, fun, welcoming. Thanks!

I just dowloaded this game on switch this time. I'm having a hard time starting it. I restarted the game 2 times now and I feel so lost! glad I stumbled on this video!
Hey Wickedy! glad ur back posting videos! I play exclusively on switch and currently have 10 farms and can still make more, no need to worry about the limit on switch either :)
I just came across this video after having the game for a very long time but never getting around to playing it. I love this! I really like how you put the relevant controls for consoles too, since I just started playing it on Switch.
thank you so much for this video. i got stardew valley for either my birthday in november or for christmas (i don’t remember which one) but haven’t been able to get into it actually get started with it. this is so incredibly helpful. thank you
Thank you so much! My daugher and myself started playing this and had NO idea what to do. We came across your video and it helped SO much. Thank you again! ❤️
I’m in early recovery and I have been meaning to get into gaming more to help my mind calm when I get triggered. This is so helpful-I can’t 2ait to purchase on my switch lite❤️
In the menu options, there's a button to lock the toolbar, so that instead of jumping to the top of the screen when you walk near it, it turns transparent. The jumping toolbar annoyed me a lot.
I just started playing SDV on my iPad and I was blown away at how awesome it is. I was a fan of Animal Crossing but it was too slow for me. SDV definitely has more lore and is more fun to play IMHO.
Special 300th comment here. I’ll be honest, prior to this guide, I’ve had no idea what in Dessie’s name I was supposed to be doing in the game. This one is really going to help me out in my PC playthrough of the game, as I’m planning to purchase that and the mobile version of Stardew Valley literally tomorrow, which is Sunday by the way. Now, for the record, I’ll still be doing my personal hardcore playthrough utilizing the item ID glitch/exploit, since it’s still pretty darn tedious and frustrating to actually get what I want, never mind need, for the farm itself. The one mentioned prior was solely for the views on TH-cam, since that’s what the algorithm recommends. If it weren’t for my obligation to make the world a good place again, I’d do the Joja run in a heartbeat. That’s also the problem with indie games: they present the same frustrating “challenges” that we once had to face with video games when we could be learning it on our own, and thus we’d have to consult outside assistance. We shouldn’t have to do this, we should just be able to boot it up and learn the ropes.
I've only just found out about this awesome sounding game and just bought it on my Android tablet. Thanks for this very helpful and informative guide. I know I'm really going to enjoy Stardew Valley.
tysm for the tips! I really like stardew valley but I'm kinda way too poor to buy it so I'm already watching these kinds of videos to be prepared when I can buy it!
My boyfriend is a big-time gamer and I didn’t even know how to put the game in his switch, I get easily frustrated because I’ve literally never played a video game. I’m trying to surprise him by taking an interest, he walked in on me making a character and I haven’t seen him so happy in a while. If spending 20 minutes on a little farm every day makes him smile like that, it’s absolutely worth it. Hopefully this will make it fairly painless!
I loooove Stardew Valley. I'm 60 soon. my daughter taught me to play 3 years ago, and I was so afraid for the mine and hated fishing. Now I'm much better. She also taught me to play Zelda. I'm not born a gamer like she is, but I'm f..... doing it. She do help me stil. Now I can downloads mods as well. So funny.

Instead, take it back to your farm and chop up all the hardwood stumps there, as well as any trees you want to cut down and THEN bring it back to Clint for the steel upgrade.)
5: Make sure you buy/sell to Clint or Robin before you hire them for a job as they will not be available until the job is complete.
Thank you so much for this video, im planning on buying the game tomorrow and wanted to learn a bit more about the game before buying it.
I started stardew valley a few weeks ago and this really helped me out :)
I just started playing this game a week ago and I’m hooked. Watching while at work. ❤ I never thought I’d be into a game like this tbh.
This was the friendliest tips and tricks guide I ever heard or watched lol I felt like I was being taken care of the whole video
Easily the best and most informative beginners guide I've seen on TH-cam! Thanks for this
This is the best beginner guide on TH-cam! I just started the game two days ago and this video is super helpful ❤
i’m getting this game today and this was a really good video to get some information! thank you
It's fab that you have done this lovely loved every bit of this
Yay thanks! I'm embarrassed to admit that that I had forgotten a bunch of obvious things before I started making this, and was going through with "beginners eyes" and was all like, oh yeah! I wish I knew this when I started out. Happy it was at least entertaining.
@@Wickedy lol it was good thanks for sharing lovely
This is a great video to just explain everything...good work
My mom just recently got a switch because she’s really into the idea of cozy games.
The higher your level the easier it becomes)
I also learned about the mines from this video, so I went really hard on that too bc it's another thing I enjoy.
Mainly just focus on what you want to do before anything else. The only thing that takes precedence is the CC sinse it unlocks a lot of handy things. Here's a list of stuff I did during my first year though:
• Work on CC
• Upgrade backpack
• Fish for extra cash
• Decend the mines
• Upgrade tools (most to gold by year 2)
• First coop or barn
• Raise character hearts (best done in winter when things are slow)
Also, I started looking into mods and there's some really helpful ones. I.e. the "to-dew list" and there's one that implements its own wiki in-game (because you end up doing a lot of googling for this game).
The most helpful beginners guide I have watched so far. Thank you
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much! I just got into Stardew Valley today, and oh man was I struggling. This is helping out so, so much. Thanks again!
Fabulous Last Chance to Plant infographic! Shared your link with various Stardew friends and chats! Wonderful video, well edited, always love listening to you. Your skillful scriptwriting and editing are a joy, and your livestreams are fab, too. Cozy, fun, welcoming. Thanks!
I just purchased the game while watching this. Love you're channel and name thank you for this kindly .
Brooo I’ve been trying to make my mom play this game and then I showed her this video and she was so excited. Thanks you’ve helped a lot of people here.
That's so great! She's gonna love it
thank you so much! I haven’t even touched the game yet but this is gonna help me so much! I saw many tutorials but this was the only one that really helped me
I just dowloaded this game on switch this time.
Absolutely love your guides! Thanks so much!!
thank you so much for this video. i got stardew valley for either my birthday in november or for christmas (i don’t remember which one) but haven’t been able to get into it actually get started with it. this is so incredibly helpful. thank you
Thank you so much! My daugher and myself started playing this and had NO idea what to do. We came across your video and it helped SO much. Thank you again! ❤️
Amazing video!! I always saw this game on sale and digital copies at my local Walmart. I was curious what this game was. Your video helped a lot
So overwhelmed by this game so ty for this ☺️❤️
I’m in early recovery and I have been meaning to get into gaming more to help my mind calm when I get triggered. This is so helpful-I can’t 2ait to purchase on my switch lite❤️
I’ve been playing this game for a few weeks and this is still super helpful!
Could u do a guide on how to design a farm, like effectively?
This explained a lot for me. I planted late and lost a few thousand when the season change. Thanks for the walkthrough!
I'm going to LOVE this game, thanks for this guide!!
In the menu options, there's a button to lock the toolbar, so that instead of jumping to the top of the screen when you walk near it, it turns transparent. The jumping toolbar annoyed me a lot.
You are a life changer! Thank you!
Say WHAAAAT?!
@@Wickedy 💖
@@Black-Swan-007 Oh yes. Very helpful.
@@ChristyTina22 I'm shook I didn't know this before. I have almost 2k hours in this game XD
I just started the game and watching this video is motivating me to have fun on the farm
I just started playing Stardew Valley so I am very thankful for this video. It has helped me a lot. Thanks.
Thank you for this, i just bought the game recently and don't know what to do xd
Also, your voice is so soothing
Thank you! And be sure to take breaks, it's easy to get lost for days in Stardew when you are first starting out. Very addictive.
i just recently bought stardew valley, asnd i was kinda overwhelmed on what to do, your video really helped out
I just started playing SDV on my iPad and I was blown away at how awesome it is.
Very well crafted and comprehensive guide, thanks!
29:07 funniest part of the video, literally telling 2 people your feelings and they are 1 room apart lol
This was literally a god send thank you for making this
I've only just found out about this awesome sounding game and just bought it on my Android tablet. Thanks for this very helpful and informative guide. I know I'm really going to enjoy Stardew Valley.
tysm for the tips! I really like stardew valley but I'm kinda way too poor to buy it so I'm already watching these kinds of videos to be prepared when I can buy it!
I wish you make all the tutorials for all the games I play 😂, best tutorial and voice ever
I just found your Stardew Valley videos and I'm in looove ❤❤❤❤❤
My boyfriend is a big-time gamer and I didn’t even know how to put the game in his switch, I get easily frustrated because I’ve literally never played a video game. I’m trying to surprise him by taking an interest, he walked in on me making a character and I haven’t seen him so happy in a while. If spending 20 minutes on a little farm every day makes him smile like that, it’s absolutely worth it. Hopefully this will make it fairly painless!
Love the video, this is gonna be really helpful for those who need it.
So funny.
How can you move the chest around? Or even the scarecrow from Set Place ?
@@da_figaro8723 use the pickaxe to hit the chest and scarecrow. They’ll go in your inventory (empty the chest first).
This was a very relaxing tutorial. Thanks!
I've just started the game so I'm excited to see what I should do first :) it's all overwhelming right now lol
Me watching this like I dont have a 100 year save in stardew valley: *hmm yes*
(Btw your voice is so calming for me)
a huge thank you, this will be very helpfull! :)
I’ve yet to play Stardew Valley but think it would be right up my alley. Bit nervous to start but also excited.
Let us know how it goes! It's okay to take your time and not rush the goals. As long as you are having fun, that's the important part
I REALLY appreciate this video! Thank you SO much! :D
I’m new to the game. I am enjoying the tutorial. Ty
Thanks for all the help, it really helped me!
It helped me a lot.
