  • A visit to Urmston Miniature Railway - Episode 16 of Miniature Railway Britain.
The first miniature railway visit of 2020. We start at the brand new Warrington West Railway Station, travel on a class 150 to Urmston as trains don't stop at Chassen Road on Sundays! We then walk to the Urmston Miniature Railway run by the Urmston & District Model Engineering Society. We see a variety of steam locos including 9F 92245 and a Quarry Hunslet. The railway is 3 1/2" and 5 " gauge.

it was lovely to see the happy faces of the adults taking their kids on the railway. Going to be interesting as you go through 2020 with covid arriving. Start of 2020 was not good for me high blood pressure high chlorestorol very very high pulse rate and atrial fibrillation followed soon by a diagnosis of needing a triple bypass. I had been wondering why I was finding the chiltern hills harder but at 74 thought it was just old age! You look super fit in early 2020.

Thank you for joining me! It's always nice to see adults enjoying miniature railways. At this time in early 2020 we had no idea of what was just around the corner. I'm glad we're past all that now and can continue to enjoy visiting places like this.

Chassen Road station was built in the 1930's when they built the new houses nearby. The line is the Cheshire Lines Committee route from Liverpool to Manchester and would have been operated by LNER locos when it opened.

Hi, thank you for your clip.
Just a few points, I'm sorry to write that you have not pronounced 'Chassen' correctly.
Did you not recognise the O1?
About the small circular track outside the club house: prior to our track round the full park we had two circular tracks one inside the other. The one left is not a 'running in' track, anyone can use it just to have a run, some people enjoy driving on this track. Also at certain times we do use it to take passengers.
It can of course be used to test a loco if a driver wishes.
Once again thank you for showing us on you tube.

Not sure what your mystery blue tank engine is.... it's similar to a 0-6-2 U Type used on Austrian Narrow Gauge. These were pretty much the go too/do anything locomotive power of the OBB. I linked to an example below.

Constructive criticism is fine, saying I walked somewhere without permission (someone from the railway confirmed I've not been anywhere I shouldn't) However hate speech about dyslexic people is completely unacceptable p. I have nothing more to say to you.
