- Visited the Sussex Miniature Locomotive Society’s raised level track at Beech Hurst Park, Haywards Heath, West Sussex on Saturday 13th April 2019. This is triple gauge consisting of 5, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch gauge, although all locomotives running today were on the 5 inch rails. Unfortunately I wasn’t in a position to take details of all the locos in operation but there was a Class 419 Motor Luggage Van in BR blue and grey, a Class 08 in BR black, a Metropolitan electric loco, a Class 73 called The Royal Alex in Pullman livery (almost certainly by Maxitrak) and one beautiful steam loco. The journey is a generous ride, probably about a mile in length and includes two tunnels, one very long, and quite rare for this gauge I would think. The Society has a website and Facebook page. Beech Hurst Park is easily accessible by road, just 10 minutes drive from the A23 and is a 15 minute walk from Haywards Heath railway station on the London to Brighton Line.
Nice video Graham. Beech Hurst is a good Railway. I’m meaning to go back there. It also has some great locomotives!
Thanks Sam, yes lovely railway, didn’t realise it was as extensive as that, certainly a nice club by the seem of things. Maybe see you at Riley’s next week.
Nice one Graham. Larry has been there, and I think some of their members have been to Isfield.
Thanks Mick, yes I believe you’re right. Seem to think Larry had a drive of the Class 419 Motor Luggage Van, shown in my video, on the day of his visit.
