I know I'm a day late, and a dollar short, but I would have investigating having the graphic printed on PPF (Protective Paint Film) and covered at least the quarters if not the whole car. You would have had options for adding colors to the graphic or changing it if you grow tired of it, or God forbid the next owner wants something different - Haha.
A young man on You tube (Ok speed and custom) done a quickie rebuild on his late fathers 68 firebird. He's done suspension and paint, he still has interior left. You should check out his channell I'm sure you could give him some ideas and tricks on the firebirds. His firebird is satin gold metalic. You all could be firebird buddies.
