    Okay but I actually LOVE the line where Odin says Loki inherited his lawless nature and the storm brewing within him from Odin himself and that made him truly his son. That’s such a great way to relate them as father and son after all those years and it’s something Loki probably really needed to hear. Also I think it’s way more fitting that Odin sacrifices himself instead of sort of just awkwardly fading away like in the actual movie.

    Kinda weird how awkwardly this scene is written in comparison to the rest of the film. The version they used is a lot more melancholy and emotional, and really sets the stage for the movie. As much as people talk about Ragnarok being a comedy, I think one of its greatest strengths is its emotional core.

    • @summertyme5748
      @summertyme5748 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      No. The 1st two Thor films were spectacular bores by comparison.
      It’s interesting that the Shakespearean trained Kenneth Branagh directed the 1st Thor - then passed on the second. Because it’s Taika Waititi who demonstrated mastery of tragic comedy as opposed to the accidental comedy caused by self seriousness.
      It’s equally interesting that Natalie Portman quit the MCU after the second film which was awful. But came back after Taika showed what could be done with the material.
      The actors and directors know when they’ve done good work, and when they haven’t.

    • @ilyarepin9490
      @ilyarepin9490 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We can probably thank Taika Waititi for that. The happy-sad tone of Ragnarok is very reminiscent of his writing style.

    • @codybaggett5329
      @codybaggett5329 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      "Spectacular bores"....why? Is it because you can't stand a film if it isn't stuffed to the hilt with cheesy jokes and one liners? At least the first two films were more accurate to the comics and didn't turn Thor into lebowski.

      I still think it was handled poorly though. He was in the movie for all of two minutes before he died. It took away a lot of the impact it should have had. And his death was pretty much forgotten for the rest of the movie. Couple that with the warriors three being killed off like they meant nothing and the constant comedy throughout the movie... I just think the whole movie could've been a lot better if they'd given more gravitas to certain scenes instead of brushing over them quickly and making jokes every 5 minutes.

      This is insanely better than what was in the film. Obviously the effects are unfinished, but it gives so much more explanation to Odin's situation, lets him have a few lines and a dramatic death instead of just randomly fading into dust, lets him interact with Hela which makes her threat more legitimate. Also having Thor and Loki interact with Odin more before he dies makes his death actually mean something instead of feeling like a throwaway moment to get to the next scene.
      Also having Thor throw his hammer and have it destroyed in direct response to Odin's death and then directly getting portal-ed away makes the whole scene way more intense than him just throwing it at Hela after having a calm discussion after she shows up conveniently after Odin's death.

    "Seek out the fire" would've been a much cooler clue used repeatedly as to what might happen later. Honestly, nothing in this movie made me think they'd attach surtur to actually letting the destruction happen. Especially when half the movie was definitely on the more humor side of things. I do prefer they chose to do the Norway thing, and Hela's added line about the hammer being destroyed far better though.
    In any case, I think an alleway meeting that Odin could explain where to take him with a map he found would've actually been a way to use this concept and the one they went with so it all really tied well together. Cause really, how did broke Odin get to Norway.

    This makes a bit more sense. Odin all homeless since the nursing home was gone. I like a bit more how he explains Hela (and indeed this is why some trailers had Hela in a street instead of the middle of nowhere). And he's a bit more helpful by saying "seek out the fire".
    BUT
    Everything he says to Loki seems less genuine,he sounds *drunk* and even sarcastic. And despite the good points they're a bit ruined with a kinda rushed scene. It feels like that. Rushed.

    • @proximashining776
      @proximashining776 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The scene feels rushed because it is. Odin knows he has no time, that Hela is coming any second now. So he has to rush to do and say everything he needs before she arrives. He's doing his best to cram a lot of important things into a single short moment.
      And he makes sure to take some of this precious time to basically say to Loki: "Yes, I do consider you my son, you aren't just a stolen relict to me. And the flaws you have aren't really your fault, you have inherited them from me, despite the fact that we share no blood, so that must have been due to bad parenting on my side." He didn't use so many words but that was what he meant.
      He didn't say any such things to Thor because he knew Thor didn't need any reassurance but Loki did. He and Loki had a problematic relationship and it would have been best if they could talk it out, so that Loki would have some closure, but there was no time, so Odin gave him at least this instead. He knew that Loki felt excluded from the family after he found out he was adopted, so he practically told him: "Look, you have inherited all my flaws, as only a real son would. You're an integral part of our family, just like Thor."

      Range Rover Sport SVR Her role is not over from the MCU I guess. She can be seen again in future marvel movies. Don’t forget Thor is still in MCU.

      The Google Really? You sure about that? Let’s go through them systematically shall we?Vulture - X(not dead but not likely to see him again)
      Obadiah stain? X
      Mickey Rourkes character in iron man 2? X
      Mandarin - X
      Ultron - X
      Warmonger - X
      Ego - X
      Ronin(who btw the in comics joins the guardians of the galaxy) -X
      Red Skull - X reduced to minor side character
      Elf dude from Thor 2 - X
      Abomination - X
      Major Ross - not dead but reduced to minor roles
      Defense secretary In winter soldier - X
      Crossbones - 1 movie, second movie minor character, died quickly X
      Thanos - mentioned, hinted at, very little screen time until the two most recent movies, where are kind of one movie in 2 parts. - X
      Mysterio - 2 movies so far seems likely, we don’t know.
      Yellowjacket - X
      So basically most if not all villains are completely throwaway, the only ones who aren’t are not really villains to begin with just have purposes at odds with the heroes and become allies.
      You were saying?

      Lol, if only you knew how Odin - much like Zeus, come to think of it - loved to play dress up and mess with mortals.

    So i guess the alley scene from the trailer is not fake at all?

      They replaced the alley scene (where Thor loses his hammer) because test audience reactions weren’t good. So they refilmed this entire alleyway scene with them at the hills

    Ffs guys just accept that Odin actually loves Loki! He just never knew how to show him his affection, because they have only little in common. Btw I think Odin is a real badass and the Movies didn't gave him real credit

    So, this is how marvel confuse the actors which scene is real and which scene is fake. Really nice move to prevent actors from giving a spoiler.

    I think they could have used some parts of this version. Could have used Odin as a homeless man scavenging in the alleyway as more of a flashback to tell the audience what he endured during his time on Earth when he was under Loki's mind wipe spell. I definitely would have liked to see Odin hand off the Odinforce to Thor in a similar, but better non rushed fashion. The exchange between Hela and Odin could have been utilized. Add in slightly more dialogue with that scene then have Odin collapse down, and as Hela is about to attack, Odin perishes as in the final version. Having Hela witness the death of her father and seeing her with a wicked evil smile knowing that the one person that could stop her is finally dead would have been a chilling scene to watch.
