- The latest episode in our Iraq series really gives a great look into a classic day of adventure bike travel in Kurdistan Iraq!
We make plans on the go as we meet an American in Rawanduz who suggests we visit a nearby canyon for some hiking. Little do we realise, the canyon is actually filled with via ferrata climbing sections, which are not so suitable for flip flops and sliders! But we decide to keep going anyway and make it a lot further than we thought we would! Probably a dumb thing to do, but we survived and it makes a good story now haha.
We met a Kurdish family half way up the canyon who invite us for lunch and tea, then show us how to dance Kurdish style! Such an amazing interaction - we love Kurdistan!
Then its back on the bike for some touring around Korek to visit some very touristic waterfalls, ride through a huge canyon that rivals anything else in the world, and meet plenty of friendly locals.
Finally, we end the day with a nice ride to the gorgeous Dukan Lake where we pitch up an epic wild camp and take a sunset swim in the lake.

Dudes,
I think climbing in flip-flops might be the most dangerous thing that you have done. Proper dangerous!
Ok, a cable across the road is probably more dangerous!
Please take care.
Thanks for another great video!
Did you take a break to go back to England for the ABR or is there a time lag in the videos and you are already home?
Dave "Tiger" Coward 🇨🇦
😂😂 you're right! Glad we survived!
The trip actually finished earlier this year and we are back in the UK full time. YT time is far behind!
How do you know which countries don’t allow drone flying? Is it like in the US that it’s just certain restricted areas and it actually restricts the drone flight via the GPS?
Hey!
We do some googling before reaching the country. If drones are not allowed, we hide it well inside the pannier as we cross the border, then are very careful where we use it. Some places block use via GPS.
