She's a precious one. I love that she wants to do what you're asking.

I am just now thinking of getting a TWH, but being a lifetime Dressage rider, this seems very discouraging that these horses have THIS much trouble cantering.

Don't be discouraged this horse just started to learn to canter last year and she is 15. So it is not her fault, it takes them longer to learn when they pace or just gait. So starting them younger or getting one that trots when loose is much easier to teach to canter then the ones that just gait or pace when loose, or you get one that someone already taught to canter then its easy.

Just find one that already canters

go ahead and search one out, just make sure it hasnt ever been used in the big sick lick class with huge heavy stacked shoes on the front, and its legs sored, thats dreadfully cruel, avoid any that has the severe front high stepping gait, thats evidence of that cruelty. Most properly trained flatshot TWH will know how to canter just fine, you will love it.

My Tennessee Walker canters with a lovely three beat rhyme as she should. She trots beautifully but she can gaite also. The ability to trot has made her very sure footed and versatile.
She is able to do lower level dressage.

My little Friesian yearling likes to rear up and do full on caprioles. I don’t know whether to be nervous about how athletic she seems or excited. I can see her doing something like this in training. I am not a trainer soooo yeah… 😬 My TWH has only ever reared or bucked a little and only while playing with other horses. I always wondered if it was because he wasn’t built to rear or buck very comfortably.

Yes some TWH can't due to how they are built, but others can. I would be excited about your yearling, she has a ways to go and talent is always good!
