thought this trade deadline would be boring but then it turned out to be one of the best trade deadlines ever
same man i expected kyrie to be traded at the deadline no matter what because the writing was on the wall, but man it was so much more crazy than just kyrie. the lakers finally traded russ and rob pelinka finally made some amazing trades to surround lebron and AD with talent. the nets blew up their roster and traded KD to the suns. then there were like 25 other small trades from every single team besides 2 of them. crazy
we are living in a timeline thats for sure

@@beastdude27 wild card teams have won the world series before while low seed basketball teams never win a ring or even go that far unless a star player has been injured for most of the regular season.
For example when the difference in win % between the dodgers and Rockies is far less than the difference between the Celtics and Hornets. Baseball has more parity is just the nature of the game

as a rockets fan, im glad we got rid of eric gordon finally but im sad we weren’t able to get anything back really considering he’s been balling out lately, i was hoping for maybe a first or a young player who’s fighting for a rotation spot but at the end of the day im happy we were able to free up that cap space

My team is the Cavs honestly not mad with no deal. People wanted Caris gone bad, I only did for someone like Trent Jr, OG, or Mikal. I was hoping we could get something for Windler and multiple 2nd, but we didn’t. Great thing is that the chemistry and morale is high.

For the Nuggets, those 8 minutes in the playoffs Jokic doesnt play are super important. Having the option of TB or Zeke at the backup 5 is a huge upgrade considering we gave up two non rotational players and one second. He can also play alongside Jokic in a pinch against teams who like to roll out double big lineups like the Lakers should they see them in the first round

Love the josh hart trade as a Knicks fan. Josh hart is a great piece. Not a “scorer” by any means but, we can rely on him to be a 3rd or even 2nd scoring option when there’s injuries. He defends well, rebounds, he’s unselfish, he’s everything you would want out of a wing guy in Thibs’ system. I also love that we gave Cam a new home. I’ve been high on him since duke and I love how he plays. Hasn’t been given a fair shot in the show yet and I’d love to him get one and shine in Portland. This is a good move for the Knicks. Add a little bit and fill a huge hole so we can go from play in lock to playoff lock. Still a 2nd round exit at best but that’s the best the Knicks have been in 11 years so I’m happy. Only complaint I have about the deadline is that we didn’t move Rose. Would’ve loved to see him go somewhere where he would play. Rose is my all time favorite player. He’s getting old and I want to see him play and hold the Larry O’Brian while he’s still young/good enough to contribute and compete

The bulls not making a trade sucked but in reality we didn’t have the picks or salary to do something. I’m more mad about this last offseason in which we threw away our MLE & trade exception because Reinsdorf wouldn’t go into the luxury. The situation we are in is more frustrating then what we are doing in said situation if that makes any sense.

As a warriors fan I’m glad we got back GPII BUT, what we were lacking was a big, a solid interior presence that can roll and block and doesn’t even have to be great on defense. It’s what we hoped wiseman would be but it didn’t end that way. If we got a big id be happy

I saw something that said Pat Riley was LITERALLY asleep, like they had something with the Clippers and Lowry basically finalized and he was asleep and missed the calls from the league to confirm/finalize it or something like that. NO idea if that's true but man it's rough. I'm more reasonable than most Heat fans I see on Twitter who I think are just a fan of headlines more than anything, but we at least just needed a serviceable 4, and/or someone who can actually shoot.

As a Nuggets fan, Denver has the 2nd best starting 5 in the NBA, their bench can defend but can't really score and that's where Bryant comes in. It also helps that the C was our weakness on the bench

As a Warriors fan, we really needed a big man but I’m very happy that GP2 is back since our defense has been lackluster. I really hope they go get Ibaka now that he’s on the buyout market
I'm not sure how to feel about what the Warriors did. I understand moving James Wiseman but I thought they were in the market for Jakob Poeltl and or Alex Caruso. What they decided to do was rebuild last year's team again. The only thing missing is Otto Porter and that was not that important a part of their run last year though it was a little bit important I'm guessing that their luxury-tax bill kind of kept them out of the market and they were probably feeling that if they could put last year's team back together then that team won a championship so they're still in the running. I'm not sure that they are.
I think it's going to be super tough to get past Phoenix and Denver's playing at such a super-high level two. As a Warriors fan I am pretty glad that Memphis ended up not doing very much to improve their team because they were the team that could have gone from pretty good to insanely good if they had added the right piece. I'm guessing that the Warriors goal right now is to get into the top four somehow before the end of the season. It's definitely easier if you can host a first-round series and anybody you get is a western conference is going to be a tough team and that applies to number one all the way to number eight.
As a Raptors fan, I wasn’t thrilled seeing that we bought instead of retooled a bit, when the market was in our favour (especially with our horrible offence), but seeing Jakob and the difference that a Center is making in the flow of offence and the difference that extra presence in the paint is making, i can see the reasoning. I just hope that it isn’t for just a 5 game playoff series, or a playin tourney. But it’s fun having bench mob back!

Warriors love GP2 but felt like we needed a Big too, fully expected to see draft capital and one of the developing pieces + Wiseman to get moved so little surprised that Moody is still here because we are so guard heavy and pretty light on bigs but can't really complain too much, essentially we are running it back with the same team from last year. Let's get healthy and see what we got, then spend on the buyout market if we need the big body.

The offers that were revealed for the Raptor players were awful. Toronto had good relationships with their players, they didn’t have to trade them, especially with some of the crazy low ball offers.

I also like the Durant trade for the Nets. They get rid of superstar drama, get some very high grade two way pieces with trade value and upside and those picks will allow them to round out their team very nicely given how much talent is entering the NBA.

Not particularly exciting to have sold saddiq bey just to get wiseman. As you had said, he is another big man that is coming in to be behind a plethora of other guys at the same position. I know saddiq wasn’t happy in Detroit and would’ve left in FA but still I feel like we could’ve done something else in terms of a trade.

As a lakers fan im very excited about having D LO back I was a fan when we drafted him and followed his career. Really hope he fills that scoring void that we’ve been needing at the guard position. Sad about TB but happy to have Bamba and I was saying we needed another defensive big so that’s good. Vanderbilt and Malik I think will help very much as well so all around happy, wanted Kyrie but honestly we won more with this than having Kyrie and less depth

It’s unfortunate PHX didn’t have an owner who was really ready to really spend for so long. I truly believe they would’ve won at least one ring during the Nash era with an owner who was willing to spend, and possibly would’ve won another somewhere along the line including the CP3 era. The new owner came in and did something new owners do a lot which is push for a monster deal. Hopefully KD can recover quickly and be awesome, and I get why they made the KD trade. I just think they needed to make a cpl more small moves along the margins. I have a hard time believing getting back like Royce O’Neale would’ve been a deal breaker, even if they had to send some 2nds along with Shamet or another swap to do it.
It is what it is tho and I think KD will age well. Just gonna be tough to get depth. Maybe they can get like Reggie Jackson and Will Barton off the buyout market or something, that’d help a bit at least. Should be fun tho. But ya Sarver rly messed up a lot. Glad he’s officially gone.
The summer they got Nash, they could’ve locked up Joe Johnson for 5yrs/$50M. I don’t remember the exact details but 5/50 was a bargain. He prolly should’ve gotten like 5/60, but Sarver offered 5/45, and said no when JJ’s camp budged and were willing to take 50 as a compromise. Sarver let him walk over $1M/yr. A year later Joe got the max (5/72) and was outta there. PHX did get 2 FRP in a JJ I think S&T or w/e, but that’s another thing about him.
It’s funny bc Sarver didn’t like to pay FRP’s even tho you’d think that’d be awesome for a cheap owner. A locked up low salary. Nah he’d rather have “proven” role players. The FRP BOS used to draft Rajon in ‘06 was a PHX pick. He ended up selling them off for BS, but he’d pay bad role players like 5/21M to Marcus Banks.
He traded the draft rights to Rudy Fernandez for cash. He also gave away two FRPs to salary dump Kurt Thomas to SEA for a 2nd lol. You got the Marion for Shaq trade too.
They could’ve had a core of Nash/Q-Rich/Joe Johnson/Marion/Amaré, Nate Robinson off the bench. Raja Bell. But they kept trading FRPs. He traded one every summer, sometimes multiple. Traded Nate Rob away, traded Rondo away, pretty sure they could’ve had Iguodala or Deng too.
There’s obviously so much stuff I’m missing. Then modern era they got CP3, they made a couple good picks w CamJ and getting Mikal. Fumbled Haliburton which would’ve been amazing. Love Ayton but Gl fumbled getting Luka, Handled the Ayton stuff badly. But they never made any trades to truly improve. Some more back court help would’ve been nice since they didn’t draft Haliburton. That trade for Shamet was terrible. There’s a reason they never had any 2nds or FRPs going out. They never really made in season trades.
