We don’t buy gifts for anyone except children in our family. And if you want to even save doing that you can make up a basket. I send my brother a gift basket of food with a family activity like a puzzle or a cookie making kit for his kids. And if we do something for an adult as a thank you it’s either homemade cookies or a donation in their name.

My grown children were my motivation, for saving money. I don’t have grandchildren, so I still buying for my children the same as I did when they were little. They said cut back the gifts because it was more important that we spend time together (tears). Last Christmas Eve I suffered a brain aneurysm, so we didn’t celebrate until March, so the meaning of spending time together was even more important then gifts.🤗

As I get older, I really appreciate the phrase "less is more". Less stress, less clutter, and more space and enjoyment of what's really important in life. I only spent about $50 on each of my kids since they have a lot already and will get more from relatives. I also give handcrafted items to others since that brings me joy and it's sharing a talent of mine. Love your messages of getting out of debt and living within your means.

I am on a very small income and I have to budget very carefully
    I do like you
Write down everyone I have to buy gifts for, set a selected amount per gift and work within that
Also this year I decided to make some gifts
I bought scarves from a thrift store for .50 cents each, wreath forms from a dollar store for $2.50 each and found a huge wreath made of red berries that someone had put out with a ton of Christmas stuff they were getting rid of
So total cost per wreath was only $3.00 ❤

I have a Christmas savings check I use for everything that's outside my normal budget. It's nice not having my bank account drop during the holidays.

Best thing we did this year was get rid of our only credit card. Using our own money has been so much better!! I make shortbread and gift that to family and friends. I hope everyone has a lovely debt free Christmas!

This is why I tell family members to not buy me gifts, that way I don't owe anyone anything and I feel free.

I have never gone into debt for Christmas. I’ve had a Christmas club for years. Still spend too much sometimes though. Wish me luck this year lol

Forget about the perfect gift. Try something more practical like gift cards to a restaurant or store they like to frequent or some gourmet chocolate.

Before you get a gift card does the recipient actually use them and is it enough to buy the recipient something?

I still do a Christmas club account at my Credit Union. It keeps me debit free at Christmas!

I was surprisingly shocked by the 36% i thought it’d be higher

That was last year's. This year it's going to be a lot higher because of inflation.

You know, at my age and with all I've been blessed with, I'd be absolutely fine if I never got another Christmas gift in my life. That's how sick I am of every holiday being turned into another excuse to mindlessly engage in crass consumerism.

Each child is want need wear. I got them all UA jackets at Kohls UA hoodies. Black friday. Legos. Each a book. I love this idea. The rest are gift cards. I purchased two fisher ice cream shops for 15.00 instead of 30 at kohls with little people. Mil and mom a basket we make and mail. Mailman. I give each of my employees a gc.

Browser extensions track your purchases and are targeted marketing ads stop promoting these you talk about saving money and these are the worst things to use
Remember when you download something you do not know what is in that code you don't know what information it's taking from your devices The worst way to lose information is to hand it out freely which means get off Facebook too
