I grew up within a quarter mile of where Mike Myers did and there was a Wishing Well Plaza very close by. It was your typical strip mall with variety stores, pharmacy, hardware, etc. In the Wayne’s world movie, the shopping mall they visited was the Wishing Well Mall. And, when I attended Sir John A MacDonald high school, the one Mike attended around ten years after I did, we used to use the “Way” and “No Way” phrases quite a lot. Also, the basement scene where SNL sketches of Wayne’s world took place was almost identical to the basement layout of the townhouse that Mike lived in while he attended high school in Scarborough.
My father and his brother owned The Wishing Well (Smoke and Gift Shop) variety store in the south-west corner plaza in the 60s and 70s. I helped work in there all the time as a kid and after I heard later that Mike grew up in the area, I always wondered if I met him coming into the store back then.
