As long as you draw what makes you happy that’s that should really matter. Might not be the best way to grow an audience but I feel like that’s the best way for me to stay happy with my art

That last point is a great way to stay grounded. The most popular image one sums it up perfectly, it was in the right place at the right time, the pics theatre gonna get super popular and noticed aren’t usually gonna be the ones you took 16days on and all the colors are just right, it’s gonna be that absentminded doodle that you posted because you needed something to post that day, or a meme hahah

honestly often times it depends on the platform itself, like tumblr go nuts if you mastered the art of "tagging" in your post, but on instgram you have to have the most "trending tags", but be careful because there is a " premotion accounts " where they come to you and ask you to check your dm so you pay them money to give you a shoutout

Tbh, I agree you made a great example using MewTripled. Relatability is what drive people to her content but also here’s another reason people are driven to her content because of how transparent, and I feel like people really appreciate how honest and blunt she is myself included. She doesn’t hesitate talking about issues or being real with her audience which is something I admire about her and strive to do with my own audience. Hmmm yeah! I would absolutely agree and phrase for myself like this list: (as i found out myself)
    - Consistency (in posting and quality)
    - a degree of polish
    - relatable / emotional Art (sadly also NSFW for SOME people)
but the biggest ingredient for success is
    - engagement with your community. (Dont see them as moneycows see them as family. genuinely.)
    - mindset (if you think no one gives a toss about my art. the truth might be: I dont give a toss about anyone elses art or ANYONE else. (fits in with the one above) fix that. or get what you send out in your heart)
    - HAVING A THING youre known for. Your colorstyle. artstyle etc. stand out. Be different. Be fun. Be exciting.
    and yeah fanarts sure help.
the engangement for OCs and random motives is like maybe 5-10% compared to fanartstuff. Still figuring out what to do there. Been active and very successful in a fandom buuut im not interested in drawing that anymore so yeah. We will see :D
All in All i found the best way though to indeed succeed is "do what you love and love what you do"
cuz viewers will feel it. They will feel the energy from your art. the emotions in it. The messages.

i’m 10 min in and this is a VERY mature and insightful video especially coming from someone that is a small creator themself. It’s not bitter about the truth but delivers it straightforwardly while being concise and understandable for all viewers. I’d imagine it’s helpful for some people that are new to the art scene. This video knows what it wants and wants to communicate and still delivers empathy to the viewer acknowledging that it’s not the viewer’s fault from the get-go. It takes you on a journey too, about how you came to this conclusion. Great recording, and of course i love the art!

I think that aiming towards sharing the art with people that'll get it is by far the best approach, instead with just "The world".
Throwing art into the internet void is pretty much dice rolling, the odds of someone seeing depends on the mood of the algorithm in that moment.
You can always do it, the lucky thing is, at the moment, we can always share.
The results are usually not impressive.
Question is, can you share your art with anyone directly without it being rude?
Or even ask someone you know will most likely like the type of content you make, if they'll be willing to see it?
I personally feel like it's rude to send messages without being introduced first or be approached first by the other side.
I would love to know if it's just my illogical and lackluster manners , or, if it isn't wrong to just ask someone something without some formality.
With my life experience, the usual result of my approach is that I end up never speaking to anyone, only on global public chat places where everyone is free to comment.

Its a shame that very few people actually enjoy art in a deeper way, but thats the way it is. if you want to be happy making art and feel fulfilled, you cannot be making art just for other people. its a toxic and terrible way to make a living. what you should do is create what you truly want to create, a few people will resonate with your work and they will be your biggest supporters. superficial art made for social media is really sad, I recommend that you just create what you truly want. Your personality and ideas should come through in your work, people who recognize this will support you. What you should be doing is not trying to make the number go up, but make what you truly want, which a few people will notice and support you for. Your goal should not be for more people to notice your work, but for it to resonate with the people that do notice it.

Ik this videos like 7 months old but I really really relate to this video. My channel blew up about a year ago when I uploaded a slow version of the blood pop meme, and then my own blood pop meme. Now ive gathered an audience that only watches animation memes- which don’t get me wrong I like making, but it does get frustrating because whenever I make something else (like fandom content or just art) it doesn’t get views. It gets exhausting too because these animations take so much time and it’s hard to not get burnout. I have to balance what I want to make with what my audience wants me to make and it’s tiring.

Ohhh, I feel that about people liking a doodle more than your masterpieces.
My most faved pic is a quick, crappy sketch of two canon characters from two different shows (who just happened to share a voice actor) playing rock-paper-scissors because someone said I should “draw them fighting”. There’s some wonky anatomy, I did not finish it at all or even clean it up really… and it’s my most popular piece.

I feel my downfall is I'm not a social butterfly, I don't like attention, and I don't know who my audience would even be. I'm just happier getting an idea out of my head as a one-of-a-kind picture. Ive created s many stories over the years with pictures to go with it. I enjoyed my own stories, but, I was to nervous to share it. 🥲Videos like this help me to try and share some of my work.
