    So many videos indicate you must pull the fan and shroud.. ridiculous waste of time.
    Getrdun is pulling the airbox.
    This video is spot on. fully subbed in one video.
    Thank you for SHARING.
    ~Many hands make light work (though Toyota should have put an access hole/grommet for the alternator tension bolt). :D

    I think if there's one thing true Toyota makes improvements on their vehicles not ridiculous engineering that requires you to goto the dealership for every little thing something I learned the had way from driving domestics

    I have a 2000 4runner, but its a 2.7L, looks similar, wondering if these are the same steps I can follow. My belts are squealing

    I don’t have the manual anymore. What do you final torque the bolts to? Just to get an idea.

    • @b2zmodz220
      @b2zmodz220  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We tightened according to just the right belt tension, my buddy didn't have his manual either. Not loose, but not super tight. I wish it had spring loaded belt tensioners. If they are a little too loose they will squeal. So that may not be much of help for you.

    Was the compressor pulley hard to move? I loosened the pulley nut and the tensioner bolt but Im having a hard time getting movement so I can take the belt off.

      Sorry for the delay
      The following must be done; with the engine off, the vehicle battery negative terminal disconnected and stowed, and with Serpentine belts removed.
      If the compressor is brand new, it may be somewhat difficult, not easy, to turn the pulley on the compressor. If the compressor has been on the vehicle for some years, it should spin with a little effort, with slight difficulty. If the compressor pulley spins very freely, it may be a sign of a bad compressor. As for the adjustable idler pulley, it should spin Somewhat freely. if the integrity of any idler pulley is in question, this is what I do to check them, and not necessarily in this same order:
      1 - While the idler pulley is on the vehicle, with the Serpentine belts removed, retighten the idler pulley bolt or nut to check for excessive bearing movement. After tightening, try to wiggle the pulley, there should be a very slight axial movement that should HARDLY, if not at all, be seen. if I can see and hear the axial movement of any pulley, the pulley maybe excessively worn and needs to be replaced with a pulley of the identical dimensions. (Don't let the auto parts store representative convince you that a pulley of a different size will work).
      2- While the idler pulley is still on the vehicle, with the center bolt retightened and the serpentine belt removed, spin the idler pulley with my hand. If the pulley grinding or screeching, it needs to be replaced immediately. If they pulley it is stuck, it needs to be replaced immediately. If the pulley spins freely and smoothly with a slight hum, it may be good. If the pulley spins freely and I hear grinding and or screeching, it needs to be replaced immediately. Once I get my new pulley, it might will not spin very freely because ball bearings are very new and packed with new bearing grease. Because of this, the pulley may not spin freely but should spin with little to no effort. Before purchasing my new idler pulley, I check it. Be sure is the bearing assembly already pressed in the idler pulley and be sure the pulley bearings spin smoothly and quietly with little to no effort.
      3 - Completely remove the idler pulley. Once removed, Tap the pulley, on its sides, on a wooden surface. If the idler pully bearing assembly or silver balls fall out, the idler pulley needs to be replaced.
      If you have any more concerns, please contact your local or most trusted mechanic or technician.
