For your first time welding, I think she did a fantastic job. Emily did great. She runs a pretty good beat and she just keeps at it. She’ll do better and better. Emily’s doing fine.
Emily, don't get discouraged. Everything is difficult for the first time. I learned to weld in my dad's shop when I was a kid at home. He was a good and patient teacher. You're doing good. Don't give up. 👍
Sparks that get into the helmet ricochet around and can get behind the goggles, too. I hate wearing the gloves because sparks have gotten into them and left me some interesting little dot scars. Bare handed, they bounced off.
For your first time welding, I think she did a fantastic job. Emily did great. She runs a pretty good beat and she just keeps at it. She’ll do better and better. Emily’s doing fine. And Avery is doing a pretty good job with patients and and teaching you and going with you doing it and Greg Gregory did the same thing I mean you’re doing a good job Emily keep it.
I think you did good for your first time girl ! Like anything, practice makes perfect. And you didn't scream and jump back the first time it arced like a lot of women would do. So you go girl !!!
@bradchandler6967 Ahh, well. I know that same look. And it's not hidden by anything. Feel it or imagine seeing it, same thing as actually seeing it. Thanks for pointing that out, friend! 👍
Emily strike it like a match, and have your point of weld picked out, ok m with practice, you will get better, it’s just a learning curve, thanks m nice , BigAl California thanks
40+ years ago, I was taught to use a small cursive "e" as a welding pattern. I can also see using an "o." My son-in-law went to welding trade school. They were taught both the letter "e" and "o" depending upon the material being welded.
Happy Day, Emily and Avery. Welding takes practice and patience to learn. In my opinion, the hardest welding is aluminum and stainless steel. These materials have to be very clean before you start. It is easy to blow out welding aluminum, and stainless steel is very temperamental when welding.
I found welding a satisfying skill to learn it is both an art and a skill a good welder is also an artist it does have an element of artistry. I am so glad you are learning how to weld just stick with it you're doing great.
Hard welding is very bright. Place I worked had to double up lenses on an old fashioned helmet or it was to bright. Also it was mig and you could here the weld cracking as it cooled
Keep trying, but take the grinder and grind the paint off where you will be welding. Granted you don't need too but it will make it much easier for you to learn to weld.
I thought for a beginner you did good Emily you just have to see the puddle building up. I would recommend putting that hair in a tie and under the leather jacket.
when i was teaching my daughter to weld when she was a freshman in high school I blind folded her and taught to listen for the frying sound when she had the sound down then I let her see where to weld. We had the same VO-AG teacher and I knew what setting he liked to use and a 6013 rod so I told her to turn the welder up 1 setting from what the teacher said to use and she had it down that the slag would curl off the weld and told her to play dum and complain that the slag was not sticking
Stacking dimes, would be optimal, keeping The distance between the end of the electrode and the welding welder metal that needs to be welded, withGod steady base on the table with your hand/arms comfortable is the best policy get comfortable with it BigAl California thanks
Make sure your not burning the eyes , by have light shaded lens, after years of cut and welding,my eyes are permanently burned , and not fixable, you are born with two eye balls, so be safe, DO NOT LISTEN to the goofy people, lol BigAl California thanks
not bad for start,s but you need some 6011 1/8 lincoln rods they start easy will burn thru anything good rod to practice with easy to run i dont know what you have for power source but ue dc reverse if you have it then use 6010 dcreverce works best foer buildup also
The boys threw you in the deep end Emily.. on the one hand.. there is no wrong way to hard surface.. on the other.. it is literally the hardest rod to work with.. You did remarkably well.. That stuff just doesn't penetrate like other rods.. Keeping the bead hot as you go is kinda important with that stuff in order to build it up and why the boys wanted you to slow down.. Other rods.. not nearly as fussy to lay down a bead.. However.. You will be using them to hold something together.. Kinda like a hot penetrating glue.. Getting that right is a bit of an art.. i would suggest getting used to wire feeding gate parts before trying something like that.......... Seriously tho.. Embrace the artistry of it
I think that Emily is going to be a great welder. To keep an arc going that long on her first try is good encouragement, Jer
Emily learning to weld for the first time is always difficult. Be patient it will get better.
Way to go Emily. you will be a top notch welder before you know it.

Emily you forgot the most important thing is safety glasses behind the helmet to protect your eyes from the sparks that go behind the helmet

"I could see the look through the helmet"!🤣🤣🤣👍👍 You know what the "LOOK" is...😯
I'd say he could "FEEL" the look behind the helmet 😖

You’ll be a genuine welder when you can weld the crack of dawn, and a broken heart. 👍🏼😁

Great job Emily👍🏻 The more you weld the better you will get!
I had a welder tell me once that my vertical weld looked like a standing rooster with slight diarrhea. 😮😅
Hard welding is very bright. Place I worked had to double up lenses on an old fashioned helmet or it was to bright. Also it was mig and you could here the weld cracking as it cooled
great job Emily you do better just takes time.

started welding as a teenager and my dad said it looks like chicken S----t and 50 years later is still looks that way.

great as always great content very entertaining good job
Nice one Emily. 😊. Love your videos guys.
Emily you’re doing good 👍👊🇺🇸🚜✔️
She needs an auto darkening helmet. That would allow her to see where her rod is to start.

Give Warnings of the eyes burning looking at welding without shield and sunburn from exposed skin to the light... Both are very painful !!!
Get healthy very soon
Emily looks like an Ewok from Star Wars!
for her first time not bad

Good work, compliments for the Student, but also for the teachers.
When can emily come and weld for me
He’s gonna cook that bare hand if he’s not careful. Maybe you should watch some educational TH-cam videos first.
Old boss burned his belly tig welding aluminum
Are you sure you want to marry her she doesn't pay attention very good
I don't think there's anything that will surprise him at this point, nor her.
