I have to admit, I’ve not seen any rhyme or reason to numbers. Will try to implement some of your techniques. Though I have music, fast cuts, bright colors, and captions. Will try to get creative 😅
Yes honestly, as I mentioned at the end of the video it did feel like there was no skill to creating TH-cam shorts. You just have to keep trying (which is hard..... I did fail at this multiple times.)

Im pretty new to all this, but i love it when a creator really takes into the nitty gritty information about how he made it the way he did with all his fails and success. Thank you Jack for another great video, I remember the previous one when you tried it for 60 days if I am correct. The reason shorts work best today is because people have rather short attention span. That's why TikTok is more popular among that generation. I will continue to make content for both platforms but I am going to put my focus on short, more expressive videos (and boost them on Famester of course). Also I heard it needs to be at least 15 seconds long to get monetized.

Inspiring. Thanks mate. I had been doing a long-form channel which had very slow growth. Your first principle made me think. I liked doing it but I don't know if I loved doing it. As it's connected to what I do professionally IRL, I think I cared too much about professional reputation. I was supposed to love it, but I didn't. So I went away and thought about it, and thought I might as well do something which is fun, and my professional reputation/ego doesn't have to care about it. It's not original content either, but hopefully it'll be acceptable. So I'm now day 7 into a new comedy shorts channel. All because of you lol

Excellent video.
The most cracked engagement technique I have ever discovered is 1-3 words at a time flashed up on screen as you talk. You can maybe stretch it up to 4 if they're all super short but absolutely no more. It needs to be short enough to completely fit into your reading zone. It's pretty narrow. If that happens, you automatically read it unless you actively exert effort to not read. Like me telling you are now manually controlling your breathing (or at least became aware of it). I learned this in 2015 after watching a video that did this. It was an absolutely atrocious video but it used that technique to an abusrd degree and after I watched it I questioned why I watched it. I then immediately implemented it in a short 30 second management summary meeting video and absolutely everybody loved it to the degree where I got a comment on it which had never happened before.
I've used it ever since when I need cheap and easy engagement, no matter the audience unless of course they can't read. Lol. I noticed you used it occasionally as well. Any particular reason you used it in some places but not others other than "it takes a long time" and the fatigue of "it doesn't seem unique because everybody else seems to be doing it"?
As always great video Jack! thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are now 77 videos down in 3 months, posting 6 videos a week. But the problem is that we don’t have any viral short to analyze. All our shorts stop being shown consistently in the 1.5 -2K range, irrespective of the engagement. So we are still waiting for THAT one video to change things for us. We do 100% original comedy sketches, and have amassed 45k followers on Instagram in these 3 months but are still struggling on TH-cam pretty bad with no idea how to change things. Do you have any advice?

@@jack_craig I have a seperate basketball channel and I upload compilations and funny moments etc. recently they have been pushed to the algorithm. Over night one of my videos got 6k views after being uploaded 10 days ago. Also with copyright I’ve been getting some bs claims from random people even though content is posted by thousands. When I get monitized eventually should I start adding sub titles and that so it’s my own work? Well re made? I’d like to here your answer. Great vid that just inspired me btw

sometimes its all about lucks, and at some points, its about strategy,. the idea of you shorts content, putting attracting thumbnails and catchy titles, and playing around with tags/hashtags. My 3 month old youtube channel has already 22 million plus views if im not mistaken. and watching videos like this is really helpful.

Another great video, thanks Jack! To everyone who’s trying to be a TH-camr here’s a tip. Post on as many platforms as you can and add your YT link to the bios of those platforms. It helps with the subs and the views on YT. For example, I post on YT and then I also post on FB, TikTok, Insta, Pinterest and even Twitter. And most of all, stay consistent and don’t give up! You got this!

I also post on Instagram and tiktok. After a year that got me maybe a couple of handful extra views and definitely no extra subs (even though on tiktok we got 1500 followers and video doing over 20k views). So doing this just to grow on youtube I'd say it's not worth it.

Thank you man! My most recent short upload was - "Mbappe VS Gamers - Fifa "emjoi" "emjoi"". The title is straight to the point and can be read within 1 second. I had a look at your titles and they are long. They distract the viewer from the content. I recommend also moving your tags into the description because they work the exact same. For descriptions I just reword the title and keep it short along with 3 tags. Honestly, title and description doesn't matter..... just make good shorts. Let me know how this goes, even if your try it for a couple shorts.

But I have a few questions that you didn't cover in your Series.
1. Do you think that uploading at a specific time matters? (Because duo to my analytics I found out that the viewers come first across my country)
2. I made some tests by uploading some shorts twice and came to conclusion that using Tags, description with words that fit in the commuinty can increase the views by 5-10%

1. Uploading at a specific time doesn't matter. I have tried posting many times at different times of day and there is no difference. There may sometimes be a initial difference if you post on the weekend. But almost every single video on my channel goes viral after 10-21 days of being posted. Only have ever had one short go viral within the first 24 hours.

Even as a YT shorts creator, I don't think you really don't need to put in too much effort when it comes to shorts. since most channels rely on popular viral things and concurrent events (almost like tiktok)
Honestly I think in my opinion growing in long form makes it better since you can build an audience better.
True I saw a post that say shorts help beef up the subs but if your long form content doesn’t get those views then you just got dead subs

I tried shorts for 20 some odd days with my original content. Nothing went viral yet, and I had a nearly 50/50 split between viewed and swiped away, yet a high retention from those who chose to watch. Averaged around 3700 views per day. I still don't really know what the attraction of short content is, but maybe someday some of mine will take off. It's an adventure trying to figure this all out.

@@JayeSmacks this totally depends on people who your video is being shown to, if your video is being shown to only a 100 people and none of those 100 are your target audience then there’s no way you can get that percentage! Unless the algorithm reaches your possible audience those numbers don’t makes sense, this is what the algorithm is currently doing, it won’t try to show the short to anyone beyond a fixed number of views and that’s the main problem!
