Shahbaz Hussain played excellent tabla. And of course Irshad Khan's rendering of the piece was full of zest, sweetness and skill. Shahbaz has come a long way since this concert was recorded several years ago. Best wishes to both artists.

is this rag Desh?
No! that Khamaj
It has shades of both Desh and Khamaj in this song. That's true. He even uses both gandhar swar at a certain point... Also some tivra ma, which is a characteristic of Mishra Khamaj, not Desh. Also the movement Dha Ni Sa' doesn't belong to Desh.
At 6:16 he also introduces us to raag miyan ki malhar fr a fraction , if u could notice !
