They butchered this mans character. Jaime had the greatest character arc in the entire show up until episode 4 of Season 8. There is absolutely no justification for their decision to demolish everything that they built toward and foreshadowed. I feel bad for NCW because he was amazing in his role didn't deserve to have his ending ruined.
He seems to like Jaime's ending, and what they did to his character, so I don't think we should feel that bad for him. (I also like what they did to Jaime)
Nikolai, "subverting expectations" by not doing what seems "obvious" is not always quality writing. Yes, you can subvert expectations. But it must make sense in terms of the story and character development. I would take the obvious over having my expectations subverted if that's what makes some sense.

@@maverickassasin1514 But they wouldn't have seen the compression HBO uses when delivering the product to over the air and streaming. All networks compress the final video down as standard practice. What D&D would have seen is what will be on the blu-ray which is the final edited/compression settings that the director preferred. We as an audience never get to 100% see how the director intended it in either film or television until we purchase the blu-ray.

I think the show ended the way it ended because of those theories or predictions that came in the internet. If I am the writer I'll also want to end it in a way that no one has ever thought because it will going to be obvious and indeed that would be the people will rant if ever. Saying "It's too obvious!" Except the writers apparently had outlines already and fan theories had nothing to do with it. Considering the stories of their unprofessional behaviour (from writers and directors) and the fact they were offered more episodes and seasons to spread everything out better, it’s clear that D&D are just hacks. They wanted to subvert expectations? People expected a good ending, so mission accomplished.
