I really don't see how you get that out of this. There's literally nothing to do with gender studies in here. It's exclusively about religious zealotry, and the fact that those in that community pretend to be persecuted, all the while persecuting others (i.e. gays) and suppressing natural human qualities, taught to fear God's punishment if they disobey biblical mores. Simple shit, put simply to music. Nothing even remotely controversial here unless you yourself are socially conservative. The 'embrace the fall' part is so fucking awesome!
