Cheetah brothers come out of nowhere and hunt a topi

- This sighting happened in the Masai Mara, the famous five musketeers took down a topi mother which had probably just given birth, the topi saw the cheetahs and took off but then slowed down probably to distract the cheetahs from her calf but it was just slow enough for the cheetahs to accelerate and catch her with relative ease.
Nicole Hofer Korensky who filmed the sighting explains what happens in detail below.
“We were in the Mara-these are the five brothers. They are not all related-I think 3 are from different families-2 may be related-they've been together for a few years. A power house. They had just finished killing and eating a baby warthog-it was their "appetizer" as we saw it. Then they started stalking a female Kopi. She had just given birth!! The baby was nursing and sitting down. The 5 cheetahs slowly walked up to the Kopi-stalking from afar. We could not believe the Kopi did not see the cheetahs...until the very last minute. She took off, but slowly, waiting for her poor baby. We thought the cheetahs were going to go for the baby, but instead took off past the baby and took down the mother. The end of the video shows the baby running by! IT was crazy insane to see. 2 cheetahs took the Kopi by the neck and suffocated it. The baby ran far away and was calling out-it was heartbreaking to see. The baby probably didn't last the night.”

Amazing footage of these cheetahs clearly choosing to pursue the bigger pay-off. They can always get the calf with ease later. Great natural history footage!

The decision to invest into the pack hunting perk clearly paid off. Takes them out of F tier into D tier at least. Maybe even into C tier.

Please don’t use the slow mo alone! I usually enjoy amateur filming because it isn’t edited, giving us a real-world glimpse at what actually happens. If you want to use slow mo, please show us it at full speed first!

Animals only hunt for food , the 5 cheetahs didn't hunt the kid for pleasure. Only humans do that crap.

This is not underestimating the cheetah speed: the mother Topi was looking after her calf while running for her own life. At the end she couldn’t survive the attack oh five male cheetahs. Strange that one of them didn’t catch the calf as well: he could have been a very easy meal..

they have come to an understanding that meals this size, normally only caught by lions, will need all hands on deck. a film of two lions came out just a few weeks back with a topi, these five cheetahs had an easier time here..
R C - but if you think about it, the cheetahs showed some intelligence in going for the bigger meal for the coalition rather than a small calf which would’ve probably not be sufficient for a team of about 4 cheetahs. The sad part is the young, in all likelihood did not see many sunsets.
They did trust it would be possible catch the adult in that situation

Wow, this is interesting. Because of their numbers they've decided to skip small game and go for larger game. I've seen this with large lion prides that specialize in strictly eating buffalo. I'd never imagine they wouldn't focus on the calf. Also, I wonder if it's just better sometimes to take the cheetah head on since...well we've all seen how weak they are at facing the enemy as opposed to grabbing it's hind legs. Seems it would work on a lone cheetah. Here I guess it's all about surviving long enough for the cheetah to tire out. Man is their speed incredible. Makes other animals appear as if they're standing still.
I'm glad you told us in the description & title. I love wildlife videos, but kills are hard for me. I know it's a reality; everything needs to eat. I'm just too sensitive and don't like to see anything or anyone suffer. Thank you for your beautiful videos, nonetheless. 🤗
Kathy i've been into seeing these wildlife stuff on YT now for 3 yrs. and it's funny how i always see u in every one of them in the comments section. lol.. u really love this stuff huh? lol.. but i am shocked you don't like seeing them get eaten, cuz in every video, that's all we ever see. you'd think you'd be used to it by now. you've probably seen over 12,000 times this happening. U don't like to see it, yet u love these type of vids. That's like saying u hate meat and are always at mcd's eating big macs. what do u do, do u always skip the eating part?
In nature, we have to accept the fact that the need for survival, means that some animals have to die for others to live. You can imagine a situation where those cheater brothers would not kill that Topi, it would mean a world with no cheaters. Sad but it's the way it is in nature.

If you look at the video closely, a mother do not run off but, waits for her baby; then, after she see that cheetah is on her, she starts to run fast. A mother could of let the baby die and lived. Because, cheetah will on a baby instead. So, she did sacrifices herself. A problem with the world is, people like who loves to open their mouth without thinking

Im pretty sure the baby was deeply hurt by how the cheetahs overtook her and never took her seriously. That was savage
And 10 minutes later a pride of lions or a pack of hyenas show up to steal the kill. The Vultures usually tip them off. 😄
Cheetahs don't really get their kill taken all that much.

These cheetahs are too clever to fix the target on the mom since they knew there is strength in numbers. If it is single then it would hv gone for the calf

Cheetahs are famous for not hurting calves . There are footages showing cheetahs nursing small animals. Still, its quite horrendous to leave a calf behind to fend for himself without a mum to look after him.
I pity that tiny thing escaping to no where.

These aren't professional film crews, they don't stay and follow animals around with cameras their entire lives (much of the footage seems to be shared by tourists), their thoughts on what happens later are just educated guesses. Whether they slow-mo it or not, if it's in slow-mo then you don't have to do it yourself. They can do whatever they want with the footage and not even share it with you. Just be grateful they do.

They saw and filmed the entire scene of these cheetah brothers. Nobody boasts about seeing the famous five cheetah brothers, five living beings that thousands of folks have traveled across the globe to see them specifically, and stop filming and then drive away in the middle of a kill. Let alone a kill of a topi. Something that happens for these brothers maybe once every six months. A kill alone happens for them once every three days, tops. So... in summary, you don't go see the pyramids, film the drive over, and then stop filming once the pyramids are in view. 🤣 And... yes, this is a shared film. That is the platform that massai sightings runs. THey receive videos from people, and they post the videos if they think those videos are entertaining enough.
So... that reminds me. Not only do I want to complain about the original creator of this film, but I want to complain to this channel itself for allowing it to be published on their channel. A video that isn't entertaining enough to me. And is why YT needs to install a voting system, so that if videos are not entertaining enough, subscribers to channels can vote them down, and then the channel cant post to the broader public using some B.S films that aren't entertaining. ANd my opinion is always right. Well, 10 out of 10 times it is. So, in this example, this film would have been voted down and would not have been published. 🤣😂

There is nothing wrong with rescuing the calf and maybe dropping it off at a conservatory. The Safari companies should use some of their profits for conservation efforts. After all, no wild life. No Safari.... No videos.
